Here is My Movie Review of Monkey Man

Here is My Movie Review of Monkey Man

So basically what happens is that you have this guy named kid who goes into these underground fight clubs and he gets a job at a kitchen as a chef but then he Start having flashbacks of his mother being brutally Beaten and burned alive by this guy named Rana Singh Then you have this guy named Baba Shakti Who wants to kill people and burn villages to get more money to increase his empire and it is up too Kid/Monkey Man to take down both Rana Singh  and Baba Shakti to avenge his mother's death and save all of the villages and that's basically what the story is for this film. Now the storyline in this film is very reminiscent of the North Man because in that film Amleth Has to seek revenge on His evil brother Fjolnir The Brotherless.

The acting in this movie is one of the best acted films of 2024 and it is right up there with The Bikeriders and one of the best acted films of the entire year.

Now let's talk about Dev Patel because this was his passion project. This movie was announced way back in 2018. He really wanted to make this film happen for real and He wanted to make his directorial debut. He traveled to India to have this movie filmed. He even trained it to do a lot of the fight scenes in this film and it's reported that he broke a couple of his fingers and a couple of his toes in order to accomplish his finest style throughout the film. Now that's done with going to be a Netflix original. But after Nope director Jordan Peele saw the film he told Dev Patel To make the film theatrical and that is exactly what happened and Dev Patel finally accomplished his mission of making That's the one in my successful films of the entire year. Now Dev Patel plays  Kid / Monkey Man in this film and he gives one of his best performances he has ever done in his career as an actor and probably one of the best performances of the entire year. Now the character of kid so much monkey man is a very tragic and interesting character because out of candy and to watch his mother be brewing beaten and burned alive by Rana Singh and at first he wants to get over his PTSD but then after a while he starts wanting to seek vengeance on him and track him down and just brutally beat the crap out of him and kill him and all the want to save all the Indians that live in the village from Baba Shakti. Probably the best moment with kid fly from monkey man is where he finally tracks down Rana Singh at this bar and be the living crap out of him and not only it's one of the best final battles of the entire year but it makes sense because he wants to think vengeance on him for killing his mother right in front of him when he was a little kid.  It is probably the bleakest moment of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Pitobach, Skiandar Kher, Sharlto Copley, and Vipin Sharma Is still perfect.

Sharlto Copley plays Tiger In the film. I had to say he does a terrific job as this character. Now the character of Tiger Is really interesting because he is so unlikable because he enjoys making fun of kid/Monkey Man he likes to watch people get hurt in his underground fight clubs He loves watching people suffer in the ring and he hit the definition of a crazy character and he works extremely well with the story. Probably the best moment with Tiger is where he See the one of his greatest champions get beaten by kid so much monkey man and not only that really powerful but it makes sense because you didn't tell how angry he is when he finds his great champion has lost to a guy that is  much weaker than his champion that he Bet that he could beat Kid/Monkey Man in the ring. It is probably the most powerful moment of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Dev Patel is excellent.

Pitobach Played Kid / Monkey Man's friend Alphonso In the film. I have to say he still does a tremendous job as the character. Now Alphonso  Is probably my favorite character in the film because he supplied the film with a lot of really funny jokes but he also really cares about Kid/monkey man because he wants Help him take vengeance on Rana Singh to avenge his mother's death. Probably the best moment with Alphonso Is where tells Kid / Monkey Man It's about competing in the ring against a Tiger´s champion and tells  Kid/Monkey Man going to lose and not only was it really funny but it makes sense because he is predicting that he is going to lose during the fight. It is probably Entertaining moment throughout the entire film. The chemistry between him and Dev Patel Is outstanding.

Vipin Sharma plays Alpha in the film. Now even though he doesn't play a huge role in this film he still does a spectacular job as the character. Now the character of Alpha is really interesting because he is Kid/Monkey Man's mentor and tells him that he has to do the right thing and not let vengeance consume his mind. Probably the best moment with Alpha is where he tells Kid / Monkey Man can close his eyes and just find his inner peace within himself and not only that is really emotional and really beautiful but it makes sense because he doesn't want Kid/ Monkey Man to go down this dark path. The chemistry between him and Dev Patel is astonishing.

Skiandar Kher plays Rana Singh  In the film and he does such a fantastic job as this character. Now Rana Singh Is probably up there with William Hale from Killers of The Flower Moon as one of the most Cold-hearted and one of the most disgusting villains of the 2020s because the film does a wonderful job of making you hate him because he enjoys torturing Indians by burning their villages and beating them to death and killing them and you just want something horrifically bad to happen to this racist bastard and luckily something does happen to him Kid/Monkey man beats The crap out of him and kill him. Probably the best moment with Rana Singh  Is where he kills Kid/Monkey Man's mother by beating her to death and then sitting her on fire and not only  is it really disturbing but it makes sense because it shows how cruel and disgusting Rana Singh Is as a villain. I still think Rana Singh Is up there with Proximous Caesar from Kingdom of Planet of the Apes as one of the best villains of 2024. The rivalry between him and Kid/Monkey Man is astonishing. The chemistry between him and Dev Patel is perfect.

However the best thing of the entire film is In the exquisite and masterful directing by Dev Patel and this is his directorial debut for this being his very first movie he is directed you can tell how much passion and love he had for this film because he really wanted this movie to happen it's been developments since 2018. I also like how he doesn't make this exactly like John Wick he put his own spin on it and I like how he changes it a lot because one man and an actor film the next minute it is a political thriller film because of all the corruption in India and then it's more of a character study going through Kid / Monkey Man's whole tragic backstory involving his mother being Burned alive by Rana Singh. Also like how he makes it sort of a calming because there are some dark weight comedic jokes sprinkled in the film here and there and those jokes can make the audience laugh so I am happy that he merged all these ideas into one glorious film and I think it is perfect of how he did that I am so looking forward to of what movie or TV show Dev Patel directs next I am so looking forward to what he's going to do with his career in the future.

So in conclusion I was blown away by this entire film. I really loved the storyline about Kid/Monkey Man seeking revenge on Rana Singh for the death of his mother. I love all the action sequences especially that final battle against kid/Monkey man and Rana Singh is one of the best climaxes of the entire year. Now the political side of this film how deals with racism in India and really works because it gives the film a really powerful and important Message about discrimination and write to them that happening in real life. This movie is probably up there with Love & Monsters with Dylan O'Brien as one of my favorite films of the 2020s. Also Rana Singh Is up there with William Hale from Killers The Flower Moon as one of the best villains and one of the best villains that you just love to hate. I highly recommend you watch the film especially if you like the film Mangrove with Leticia Wright. I give this movie a 10/10.
