Here is My TV Show Review of Iron Heart
Now when this show was announced I was not looking forward to it. I'm like this looks like a really bad MCU show. This is going to be like Hawkeye all over again and turn them giving a supporting character there and show that's not going to do really well at all. So I watched the show and I was really surprised because I ended up really liking this show. Now it's not a perfect show. It has some problems. but I think overall I found it entertaining. I will say it's better than Echo because that show is just really dull.
So basically what happens is that it takes place after black panther Wakanda forever left off you have Riri Williams/ iron Heart who wants to go Mit. But unfortunately she gets kicked out of the program for Destroying part of the lab with her Iron Heart suit. So then she meets this guy named Peter Rubbins/ the Hood Who tells her that he and his crew need her help to steal technology so they can become super rich and build more weapons and at first you go the long with it but She soon realized that Peter Robbins/The Hood is up to something so she has to do everything are power to take him down and prevent the destruction of all Humanity well on top of that she is coping with the lost of her stepdad and her best friend natalie. That is basically what the story is for this show. I have to say the storyline is actually really interesting. I actually think that this is one of the better MCU storylines from these Marvel shows because the storyline in Echo was really boring and not that interesting. Well this one is actually fun and really interesting to follow. I will say though I think Loki had a way better interesting storyline then this show because that one well there a lot more fun to follow.
Now the acting in the show is really interesting because all the performances are really fun and even the actor that I was not looking forward to seeing in the MCU was actually really entertaining to watch. I'll talk about that actor later in this review.
However the absolute big standout of the entire show is Dominique Thorne who comes back as Riri Williams / Iron Heart and I have to say her performance is still tremendous because I always liked in the MCU whether it was in Black Panther wakanda forever or in Marvel's what if season 3 she is always tremendous as this character. Now the character of Riri Williams/ Iron Heart Is still captivating and really fun to watch because she is actually going through a lot in this showing you know her stepfather Gary is dead her best friend Natalie is dead she has to take down Peter Robbins/The Hood and protect all of humanity and become the next Iron Man. I think her character is actually really incredible and really interesting to follow. The scene where Riri Williams/ Iron Heart meets Peter Robbins /The Hood Is a really show a moment because she has to team up with this criminal Mastermind in order to protect her family and there are several moments where she is trying to say that she doesn't want to be a part of his team and it does lead to some really heavy stuff that happens later on in the show. It is probably one of the most entertaining but one of the creepier moments of the MCU phase 5. The chemistry between her and Lyric Ross, Anji White, Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, and Sasha Baron Colon Is terrific.
Lyric Ross Play Riri Williams/ Iron Heart’s best friend And AI assistant Natalie Washington In the show and I have to say her performance was really entertaining especially the more emotional moments in the show because those were the best moments in the show. Now the character of Natalie Washington Is really incredible because she is kind of similar to Tony Stark's AI helper Jarvis from the early stages of the MCU and how both of them help the main character overcome intense or harsh situations because Natalie has to help Riri Williams/Iron Heart take down The Hood and become the next Iron Man. Also scenes involving Iron Heart and Natalie interacting do lead to some really powerful and really incredible moments especially the part when they had to say goodbye to each other when she couldn't combined with the magic in The suit that was one of the more heartbreaking moments of the entire show and It's actually one of the sad moments if any of these Mcu show because iron heart had to say goodbye to her childhood friend. The chemistry between her and Dominic Thorne is remarkable because you can tell that both actresses are having a lot of fun in the show.
Anji White plays Riri Williams/ Iron Heart's mother Ronnie Williams in the show. I have to say her performance was really entertaining because she gives so much heart and emotion to the character. Now the character of Ronnie Williams Is interesting because you do feel bad for her because you're going through a lot because her husband died and she wants to protect her daughter at all times so nothing bad happens to her. Now the bonding between her and Rir William/Ironheart is interesting and really fun to watch. But the relationship between Scott Lang and his daughter Cassie from the Ant-Man movies with a lot more stronger and a lot more entertaining to watch because they built their relationship from the first film all the way up to Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantum Mania and I think that's because Paul Rudd and Abby Ryder Fortson and Kathryn Newton had much more believable chemistry. Then Dominic Thorne and Anji White because well it's not terrible and actually really fun to Watch. I think if they had a lot more scenes together. I think I would buy it a little more. Now that being said I will say that the relationship between Riri Williams/ ironheart Is a lot better than the relationship between Hawkeye and his daughter Kate Bishop because I didn't really see chemistry between Jeremy Renner and Haley Steinfeld because That show tried to show that they have good chemistry but in the end I thought that chemistry would just average in that show. The scene where Ronnie Williams and Riri Williams / Iron Heart are talking about their family was actually one of the strongest moments in the show. It's probably the saddest in Phase 5 of the MCU. The chemistry between her and Dominic Thorne is excellent.
Alden Ehrenreich Plays Obadiah Stane's son Ezekiel Stane In the show. I have to say his performance was actually really entertaining in the show. He gave one of the most captivating and one of the most fun performances of the entire show. Now the character of Ezekiel Stanes Is really interesting because unlike his dad Obadiah Stane Who is Pure Evil and he wanted to kill everyone including telling Stark. But Ezekiel doesn't want to be like his dad; he does not like being controlled by Peter Robbins/The Hood because he doesn't want to be evil but i have to say his though and turn in the show but actually really interesting because again he's being manipulated by the hood so he doesn't want to kill IronHeart but the hood tell him to. The scene where Ezekiel Stane is telling The Hood not to control him what they really dark and really suspenseful moment because Because he putting Ezekiel under his control to kill anyone against in his way and it was probably one of the creepiest and was the best moments of the MCU phase 5. The chemistry between him and Dominique Thorne is magnificent.
Anthony Ramos plays Peter Robbins /The Hood In the show. I have to say his performance was actually not only incredible but one of the more horrifying performances of the entire show because you can tell that Anthony Ramos is having a lot of fun playing with a really disturbing and Devil worshiping villain. Now the character of Peter Robbins /The Hood Is really unstable in the show because at first he enjoys having Riri Williams/ironheart on his team but then he starts not like her because she is trying against him and you can also see that the hood he is wearing starts to make him more crazy and unstable as the show progresses. The scene where Peter Robbins /The Hood Get possessed by the Hood is probably one of the scariest moments of this entire show because his face becomes all demonic and his voice becomes distorted and he tries to kill Iron Heart. It is probably one of the horrifying moments of the entire show. The Rivalry between him and ironheart is tremendous because right from the beginning they immediately hate each other and the show builds up the rivalry really well. Now I will say though that the Thunderbolts and the void had a better rivalry because The movie developed their rivalry a little bit better than the show. But I will say that the Rivalry between Iron Heart and the Hood was a lot better than the Rivalry between Black Widow and Taskmaster because that didn't really go anywhere. The chemistry between him and Dominique Thorne is actually incredible because their chemistry is actually really fun to watch in the show.
Now let's talk about the thing I was really dreading to see in this show and I'm not making it. I thought this was going to be the worst thing in this entire show and that was Sasha Baron Colon as Mephisto. Now the reason why I thought he was going shit in the show is because when you look at this actor you don't think of like an evil demon who wants to kill all of humanity and wants to torture his victims. You think of an overly comedic villain Like Ultron in Phase 2 of the MCU because that character was overly silly and you expect the MCU to cast a different actor like Gary Oldman or Jude Law who would make more sense as this villain. But to my surprise he was actually really great because they were moments where Sasha Baron was really Entertaining, especially when he whispered some of his dialogue. It did come off really creepy. But that being said though I think he is still miscast because he does a great job don't get me wrong and I will say though he gave a way better performance than Guy Pierce did as Aldridge Killian in Iron Man 3 because that performance was really terrible. But to be honest I think they still should have gone with someone like Ethan Hawke or Jake Gyllenhaal. I think those two would make a lot more sense to cast as Mephisto. Now the character of Mephisto it actually really fun and really entertaining because he's still manipulates his victims why can the comics and his motivation is that he wants to manipulate Iron Heart into making a deal with him so she can bring her Friend Natalie back from the dead and he can take over the city and manipulate people By giving them their greatest desires. The scene where Mephisto takes Iron Heart thaw is really disturbing because she made a deal with him to bring back her childhood friend and he kept that promise and Natalie comes back but you see a scar on Iron Heart's arm which implies that her soul has been sold to the devil. It is probably one of the most nail biting moments of the entire show. The Rivalry between him and Iron Heart was actually really interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing what they're going to do With Mephisto later on in the MCU. The chemistry between him and Dominique Thorne is terrific.
Now the directing by Chinaka Hodge Is really interesting because I do think she does a glorious job of developing Iron Heart and the character because in this show she is going through a lot her best friend is dead her dad is dead she want to continue Tony Stark's Legacy of being the next Iron Man she has to take down the hood and make a deal with Mephisto to bring her childhood friend back from the dead. I also like how she incorporated Obadiah Stane’s son in the show Ezekiel Stane And how what she made him really interesting because he doesn't want to be like his dad but he start to go off the rails when the hood controls them like a puppet and he does it like being controlled by someone else so I think she did a terrific job with that as well. Now I won't say though I wish she cast someone else because I think Sasha Baron Cohan is really fun and entertaining to watch. I still think he's miscast again. I think they should have gone with Gary Oldman or Christopher Walken as Mephisto. That would have made a lot more sense. But other than that I think she did a Spectacular job directing the show.
So in conclusion I was really surprised by the show because I thought this was going to be really terrible because the last few MCU shows did not impress me. I wasn't a big fan of Echo and I didn't really care for She-Hulk. I really did not like Secret Invasion. So I was like yeah I just like it could be not as bad as Secret Invasion but it still be a bad show. But to my surprise I actually end up liking this show because I did the thing I like about this show is that it dives into the character of Riri Williams/ iron Heart how she lost her childhood best friend Natalie how she has to team up with this evil guy named The Hood and then take him down and make a deal Mephisto to bring her childhood friend back. I thought the show was really interesting when it focused on the tragedy of Iron Heart. Also the performances were really entertaining especially from Dominique Thorne Because she is still terrific as the character of Iron Heart. The action figures were really amazing especially the battle against iron Heart and The Hood that was probably one of the best action scenes in the entire show. Also Sasha Baron Colon managed to give a really entertaining and fun performance as Mephisto because you can tell that he is having a lot of fun and this character. Now I still believe that he is miscast as this character I still think They should have gone with someone like Ethan Hawke or Idris Elba to voice Mephisto. I think those two would have been better choices to voice the character. But I will say he gives a better performance than Bill Skarsgard did as Kro From the eternals because he gave one of the worst MCU villain performances. Now I will say I think Loki is a better show than this because I have a much better storyline and much better performances. By Wednesday the show with a lawn mower interesting then Hawkeye because this one had a better story than that one had because the storyline Hawkeye just wasn't that interesting to follow. Well this storyline is interesting to follow. I highly recommend you watch this show especially if you like Marvel's What If…? with Jeffrey Wright. Then I'm sure you're going to like this one. I give this show a 8/10.
