Here is My Movie Review of T.A.U
So basically what happens is that you have this woman named Julia who is a thief and one day she gets taken to this facility by this guy named Alex who is doing experiments on her and sends her to meet the other people that have been experimented on by Alex. Then they tell her that they need to leave the facility. Then Julia rescues them and they have to try to escape the facility. Then they meet this artificial intelligence named T.A.U Who tries to keep Julia from escaping so he decides to kill off everybody else with its robots. It is up to Joanne to escape the facility and take down T.A.U that is basically what the story is for this film. The storyline in this film is prayed dumb and the way I can summon it is that except the lazier rehash of the movie I. Robot because both movies have robots trying to kill humans. The only difference is that I, Robot movie had their story then this generic horrible sci-fi.
The acting in this movie is really terrible except surprisingly for one performance that's actually really good.
Maika Monroe Is really terrible at the character of Julie. She is so flat and it feels like she is asleep walking throughout her performance. Now the character of Julie is awful because all She does is freak out that she thinks she is going to die and she just questions what's going on and that's all her character. Probably the worst scene with Julia and where she is first in the facility sheets freaking out and it just doesn't Show that she is a strong or interesting character. The chemistry between her and Ed Shrine and Gary Oldman is decent.
Ed Shrine Plays Alex in the film. I have to say he is horrible. Now Alex as a villain is just a generic boring and uninteresting villain All he does is experiment on people that's all he does he's just a pathetic one-dimensional villain with no personality and no redeeming qualities You know what I'll just say it as much as I found Ajax from Deadpool a weak villain at least he was memorable than this character Probably the worst scene with Alex is when he's talking to the people who made T.A.U and it's just so still heavy and serves nothing to the story. The chemistry between him and Maika Monroe Is okay.
Gary Oldman voices T.A.U In the film. I have to say out of all the performances he is the best performance in fact he does a spectacular job as T.A.U. Also out of all the characters T.A.U Is the best character of the film. Much like what I said about Willem Dafoe being the best part of Death Note 2017 I think Gary Oldman Is the best part of the film. Probably the best scene T.A.U is where he tells Julia to do her task or she would kill her and not only was it really intense. But it makes sense because she has to do what he says. It is probably the best moment of the entire film in fact all the moments with T.A.U are the highlights of the film. Also T.A.U design is really interesting but really simple because it is a triangle. The chemistry between him and Maika Monroe Is surprisingly excellent. I do think they do have awesome chemistry together.
The directing by Federico D'Alessandro Is awful because hit directing I just don't get it because This movie is supposed to be a sci-fi thriller but for something that goes from that to a sci-fi romance film I don't know what he wanted the film to be did he want this to be a sci-fi thrower or a sci-fi romance film. This should have gotten to someone like Robert Edgars then It would have been a sci-fi thriller film.
So in conclusion this is one of the worst movies of 2018 because it doesn't know what it wants to be, does it want to be a sci-fi thriller film or a sci-fi romance film. Also this movie is up there with Death Note 2017 as the worst Netflix Original films. All the characters except for T.A.U are bland and flat in one dimensional characters. All the performances are really terrible. The only actor who actually does a great job is Gary Oldman as T.A.U because it feels like he's the only actor that's having fun in the film. This movie tried to be like the movie I Robot but It completely failed because that movie did the whole robot trying to kill humans plot better than this movie did. I say just skip it and go watch Chappie with Hugh Jackman because that movie is a lot better written and has a much better storyline than this one had. I give this movie a 3/10.
