Here is My Movie Review of Birds of Prey

 Here is my movie review of Birds of prey. 

so basically  what the plot is it takes place after suicide squad left off Harley Quinn has broken up with the Joker and so she is  on her own. then she has  to protect this girl from Black Mask.  That is basically what the story is for this movie. 

The acting  in this movie is Is really great for the most part except for one performance.

Margot Robbie plays Harley Quinn In the film. I have to say she still does an amazing job as this character. What makes Harley Quinn such a awesome character that unlike Suicide Squad where she is a antihero in this film she had actually a villain and she also wants to forget about her boyfriend the Joker. Probably the Best moment with Harley Quinn is where she is telling the audience of her whole origin story and not only was it really funny but it made sense because she was telling the audience what is her phone origin story and it is probably one of the funniest scenes in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Mary Elizabeth Winstaed, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and Ewan McGregor is still excellent.

However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Mary Elizabeth Winstaed as Helena Bertinelli/the Huntress. What makes Helena Bertinelli/the Huntress such an excellent character is that she really wants to help Harley Quinn to protect Cassandra Cain from Black Mask. Also you really feel bad Helena Bertinelli/the Huntress Because when she was a kid she had to watch her family get gunned down in front of her so ever since then She trained her stuff to be one of the most skilled assassins in Gotham City. Probably the Best moment with Helena Bertinelli/the Huntress is when people kept on calling her the crossbow killer and she just got really annoyed by them calling her that and see got really mad at them and not only was it really funny but it made sense because she was sick of the Birds of Pray getting her name wrong. It is probably some of the funniest moments in the film.The chemistry between her and Margot Robbie is astounding. Fun fact actresses like Sofia Boutella, Margaret Qualley, Mary Elizabeth Winston, and Christin Millioti were all considered to play the Huntress.

Jurnee Smollett-Bell plays Dinah Lance/Black Canary. I have to say she still does an amazing job as the character. What makes Dinah Lance/Black Canary Such an amazing character is that much like the rest of the birds of prey she also wants to protect Cassandra Cain from Roman Sionis/Black Mask. Probably the best Moment with Dinah Lance/Black Canary Is when she tells the brother pray to cover her ears because she's about to scream really loud which causes Roman Sionis/Black Mask ´ s henchmen to be knocked out by the sound wave and not only was it a really awesome thing but it made sense because the sound waves were really allowed and they did´t wanted to be Injured by the noise. It is probably the most powerful moment in the film. The chemistry between her and Margot Robbie is still terrific. Fun fact actresses like Alexandra Daddario, Jodie Comer, Blake Lively, Vanessa Kirby, Janelle Monae, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Jurnee Smollett-Bell were all considered to play Black Canary.

Probably the worst performance in the entire film is Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis/Black Mask. What is really a disappointing is that Ewan McGregor Is a fantastic actor if you watch him and stuff like Jack the Giant Slayer Christopher Robin from 2018 you can see that he really he can be very heroic Like how he is as Elmont from Jack the Giant Slayer or he could be really sweet and light-hearted like how he is in Christopher Robin as Christopher Robin. But this is probably his worst performance he has ever done. Now the character of Black Mask is awful because he is not tough he is way too scrawny to take seriously as a villain and his motivation all he wants is a diamond that Cassandra Cain stoll from him and that's it that is his whole motivation is just really boring and unmemorable of a villain motivation. Also his personality is all wrong because in the comics he is a vicious and sadistic character. But in this movie He has way too over the top and silly to take seriously and there is a scene where Roman Sionis/ Black Mask goes into a bar and he just screams the word fuck and people look him and if he's crazy and you're supposed to take it seriously but you really don't because It is way too cringe worthy and weird to watch. Also the way Black Mask dies in the film is so dumb Harley Quinn kicks him off the bridge and a grenade blow up in his pocket and that's how he dies and it's probably one of the dumbest villain deaths of The entire DCEU. Fun fact actors like Nicolas Cage,Sam Rockwell, and Sharlto Copley were all considered to play Black Mask

The directing by Cathy Yan Is really interesting because what I like about her directing is she did a great job of telling Harley Quinn's entire backstory and I also like how it was like Deadpool I also like how it did its own thing and not being an absolute carbon copy of that film. I also think she did a Brilliant job developing the character of Bertinelli/The Huntress By giving her a really sympathetic and tragic backstory as making her really funny and making her really entertaining at the character. Now my only problem with her directing is that I don't think she understands the character of Ronan Sionis/Black Mask because she thinks that he is really goofy and over the top gangster but in reality he is not he's supposed to be this assassin Who has a violent tapper that will kill anyone who gets in his way. I do wish that she made Ronan Sionis/Black Mask actually accurate to the comic books and the TV shows.

So in conclusion i don't think this movie is as bad as a lot of people say is I think there's far worse superhero movies like Batman and Robin or the Flash from this year those films are way more unwatchable than this film. I still think Helena Bertinelli/the Huntress is my favorite character because she has a really tragic backstory and out of all the characters she was the funniest character in this film. she kind of reminds me of Cassie from the Ant-Man films. But if Cassie Lang actually kills people and if she said a lot more swear words. I still think Roman Sionis/Black Mask was done very badly in the film one of the worst super villain casting choices of the 2020s. and one of the worst villains of 2020. As well as the one of the worst villains of the 2020s so far. I think if you enjoy the Suicide Squad from 2021 which also stars Margot Robbie then I'm sure you'll like this one. I give this movie a 8/10.
