Here is My Movie Review of The Old Guard 2

Now when this film was announced I was Looking forward to  it because I really enjoyed The First Old Guard film. I mean the first film wasn't a perfect film but it was entertaining enough. I enjoyed the action sequences and the storyline was fun.  So I watched the film and I got to say not only in this movie really fucking boring but it is the worst film of 2025 because this movie is a giant disappointment because I was somewhat looking forward to this film but it didn't lead to anything exciting it was just uninteresting. 

So basically what happens it that takes place after the first film lift off you have Andy and her crew going on missions and then she finds out that she's losing her ability to heal she wants to figure out her past and then you this villain called Discord  Who want to kill Andy and her crew and kill all the Immortals and it's up to Andy and her crew to take down Discord and prevent her from killing them. To be honest what the fuck kind of story in this because It's really dumb and it's just really weird like the okay the idea of Andy trying to figure out her past is not a bad idea but it just comes off as a rip-off to X2 X-Men United because in that film Wolverine were trying to figure out his past and that film executed that perfectly. But this film does not execute its storyline at all. 

Now I will  mention the positives. The acting is not the problem because they are clearly trying their best Even in parts where this movie is not working they are trying their hardest to give any ounce of effort into their performances. But half of them have almost nothing to do. They just sit around and do nothing. I think this film wastes more actors than Love Hurts because At least with that film utilized all the actors and all the characters were memorable. But here all the characters are just so fucking boring and not as good as they were in the first film. 

Now let's talk about Charlize Therone who comes back as Andy and she does a tremendous job and this character even parts where this movie is so fucking boring Throne still gives it her all as this character. No well I said that Charlie's Therone's performance was entertaining. Now the Character of Andy is just kind of boring coming off that first film which she a really awesome and a really badass character in this movie she's kind of boring all Andy does throughout this movie is she is  Trying to figure out more of our past and she had to take down Discord and that's it that is her entire character and she doesn't really go through a character like she did in the first film so in this case they turned Andy into a boring character in this film which is really dumb because I really liked her in the first film. Now I will admit that the open action thing with her and her crew was amazing because Andy is still really a badass in this open action scene. I would say this whole opening is the only thing I enjoy in this film, the only action scene I actually enjoyed. The chemistry between her and Kiki Layne, Marwin Kanzari, Uma Thurman, Chiwetel Ejiofor Is terrific. 

 Marwin Kanzari Comes back as Joe in the film. Now in the first film he did a terrific job as the character. But here his performance was good. But Marwin Kanzari has almost nothing to do in this movie. He doesn't do a damn thing other than the opening action sequence that is the only thing he does in this entire film. Now the character of Joe was really fun in the first film but in this he is really boring he done it really do anything all he does is just sit around throughout the entire film and he  fights when the film wants him to so yeah he was a really dull and really flat character and that's really disappointing because I actually enjoyed them in that first film he'll do a really fun character. The scene where Joe and Andy are talking to Andy. They are in a palace. it just comes off really Bland. It is probably one of the most boring scenes of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Charlize Therone is okay. 

Kiki Layne Comes back as Nile Freeman in the film. I have to say well her performance is really awesome and even parts where this film is not working she is still really fun as this character. But the problem is Nile Freeman and the character she had almost nothing to do. All she does is follow Andy around for the entire film and that's it that's all she does. And that is really disappointing because I really liked her in the first film but here she had come off as a boring and really uninteresting character. She doesn't really go through a character in this film. The thing where she and Andy confront Discord could have been a really fun scene but the problem is it was so boring and uninspiring to watch  that's how uninterested I was in that entire scene. The chemistry between her and Charlize Throne Is average.

But the most wasted actor I'm sorry to say but Chiwetel Ejiofor Is pretty bad in this movie because his performance as James Copley Is okay. It just feels like he's just sleepwalking throughout his entire performance. It just seems like  Ejiofor is really bored while making this film. It felt like he just wanted to get off the set and do something else. To be honest I don't think this is Chiwetel Ejiofor´s Worst  performance but it's definitely his most forgettable and one of the most throwaway performances he has ever given and that's really sad because he is a tremendous actor because he has really terrific in The Lion King he is really great in the MCU but here I don't know what happened because I really like him in the first movie. But here he was again really boring and really Bland in the film. Now the character of James Copley Is really boring because he doesn't really do anything in this film which is really disappointing because I liked him in the first movie. He was really fun, he was really entertaining and a character. But here he does virtually nothing. They try to give him more depth in this film and it does not work at all. To be honest they kill him off in the film and I didn't really care when he died because he was just so Bland and uninteresting in this film. The scene where he died was just so bland and didn't really make me feel anything. I was like whatever, he was really boring in this movie so I didn't feel anything when he died. The chemistry between him and Charlize Theron is okay. 

Now let's talk about Uma Thurman who plays the villain movie Discord to be honest she probably gave the worst performance in this film now I will say I don't think this is Uma Thurman's worst performance because her performance says Poison Ivy in Batman and Robin is more Unwatchable and really dumb because I will say she was trying her best In the film. But she was still bad as the character and that is really disappointing because Uma Thurman is a tremendous actress if you watched her and Gautica or the Kill Bill movies, So she is a really awesome actress. But here she's just really bad in that Russian accent she puts on this movie I'm watching and I'm like she is playing Viper from the Wolverine. That horrible Accent in that movie with that really horrible Russian accent is that the character Uma Thurman is playing. But the character of discord is a nothing going because all she wants to do is to kill all the Immortals because of the fact that she's not moral so if she wants to kill all of them so she can become immortal with motivation that doesn't make sense it's just really dumb and really bland. Also she is boring in the movie so her scenes just come and go So you can't forget that she's even in the movie. The Rivalry between her and Andy is virtually nothing, they don't really interact that much and she is just not that threatening as a villain she is essentially nothing. The chemistry between her and Charlize Therone is okay at best; they have decent chemistry in the film. 

But the doubt the worst thing of this entire movie is the directing where the fuck do I begin with the directing by Victoria Mahoney Because I don't know what she wanted to do with this movie because the only poison this movie where it tried to dive into Andy's past Because it wants to learn more about it and it just comes off as a rip-off to X2 X-Men United where you had Wolverine trying to figure out his origin and it worked in that film because all the characters were utilized really well. But also It was really interesting to follow Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men characters. But in this film it does not work because most of the characters are just nothing they don't really do anything all the characters you know and care about From the first film are essentially brand and uninterested character than this film she also try to make this movie a lot more Funnier and it does not work at all Because most of the jokes were not funny they were just really dumb jokes. Also she tried to develop Discord as a villain and it does not work because again she's just bland and very forgettable and she comes off as a rip off Viper from the Wolverine, another boring and really uninteresting character. Overall I really think she did a horrible job directing this film.

So in conclusion I really hate this movie because the storyline was just not that interesting because they expect you to understand Andy's past but they barely dive into it. They only dive into it and the last like I say like 30 minutes and even there it was just really boring. So I have to say this movie probably has one of the most boring storylines of the entire year. The only thing I actually enjoyed was Charlize Therone´s performance because she was Still great in the movie. She was still fantastic as Andy even though the writing for her character was really bad. She was still entertaining in this film. The open action sequence I will admit was actually really fun to watch like the first 4 minutes were actually really awesome. But after that the film got boring and more dumber as it went on. Also the other actors besides Charlize Theron Have nothing to do.  Marwin Kanzari is just really boring and just not that interesting even though he is trying to give a great performance. Same with  Chiwetel Ejiofor who also doesn't really do anything throughout the entire movie because then the first movie he was really fun and really entertaining. It just feel that Chiwetel Just wanted to get this movie over with and go do something else. But the reason why this movie is really bad it's because I was really looking forward to this movie. I was kind of excited at the last second because I was hoping that this film would develop the rest of the characters but  it did not.  Not only is this one of the worst films of 2025 that I have seen. It is probably the most disappointing film I have seen of the entire year. To be honest if you think The Electric State is terrible with Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown and Ke Huy Quan. I think this film is much worse because The Electric State I actually still find it one the most underrated films of 2025 and one of the most underrated Netflix original films and hey at least it develops all of its characters. To be honest, I will say that Ethan Skates, played by Stanley Tucci, is a way better villain because he is actually memorable and really entertaining. But the villain of this movie is just really bland and really uninteresting. I say just skip this movie and stick with the first Old Guard film and go watch The Electric State or Love Hurts with Ke Huy Quan because at least he does stuff in those movies and he is entertaining to watch. I give this movie a 1/10.
