Here Is My Movie Review of A Different Man

Now it comes to this film I was very much looking forward to it in fact the trailer Immediately hooked me in because this film is an A24 film and whatever they release a movie I am instantly hooked and i know I'm going to like it and here is no different this is one of the  Most emotional A24 films. 

So basically what happens is that you have this guy named Edward who is this very awkward actor and he means this girl named Ingrid Who is this playwright but he is too nervous to ask her out so he decided to go under plastic surgery to make him more attractive. She recruits Edward to be in this play all about him and he agrees to it But then his co-star Oswald start to grow jealous of him because he is getting all the attention and not him So he tried to steal the role from Edward so he can get all the glory and all the attention and it's up to Edward to Complete the play and win the love of his life and that's basically what the story is for this film. The storyline in this movie is terrific because the story focuses around accepting others of the way they look and I think the film handled this story  tremendously.

However, as excellent as the story is, that's nothing compared to the acting because the acting is so wonderful and magnificent and it is probably one of the best acted films of 2024 because everyone does an exquisite job as the characters they did give so much heart emotion to these characters. 

However the actor that I really want to talk about is Sebastian Stan. Now this actor is outstanding because he has given some really powerful and remarkable performances whether it's his performance at the Winter Soldier in the MCU or his performance as Deputy Lee in The Devil All The Time. This actor just gets better and better. But I have to say this is probably Sebastian Stand’s best performance he has ever given because he's playing this character of Edward who is a guy that caused it gets made fun of because  because of the way he looked that I think Stan just does a magnificent and spectacular job of conveying so much  heart for this character. Also not to mention Sebastian Stan looks so unrecognizable as this character because i kid you did not I did not know it was him under all that makeup because if you told me that that was the same guy who was in the MCU as The Winter Soldier i wouldn't believe you at first I'll be like no that's a completely different actor but no that is Sebastian Stan under all that makeup and the makeup and prosthetics look amazing on him. Now the character of Edward is really tragic because you really feel bad  for him because people say that he's ugly they don't accept him because of his facial deformity and he really wants to find love with Ingrid. The scene where Edward is Is in his house and he is trying ripping his face apart it is one of the saddest and one of the more depressing moments of the entire film but it works because you can see Edward is that an all-time low he is disgusted of what he is he wants to be handsome he just wants to have a normal face but because he was born with fish with deformity he is unable to make his face look better because even when he gets the surgery he is still not really happy no he is happy that he can talk to the girl that he has been feeling attraction to. But people in town still treat him like garbage. The chemistry between him and Renate Reinsve, Adam Pearson Is magnificent. 

Renate Reinsve plays Ingrid In the film. I have to say she still does a spectacular job because she carried this film perfectly. You can obviously tell that she had a lot of fun as this character. Now the character of Ingrid  Is brilliant because you can tell she really cares about Edward. She really enjoys spending time with him and she really wants them to be in this play that she is writing called Edward Where he plays the title character. The scene where Ingrid Is talking to Edward at the dinner table expressing how much she really cares for him is such a sweet and wonderful moment because shows she is the only person who really sees Edward as a human and not as a freak who she believed deserves more love and care. It is probably one of the most beautiful moments in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Sebastian Stan is outstanding. You can tell that these two actors play off each other in the film perfectly because you can tell that they are having a lot of fun in the film together and this is probably one of the best acting pairings of 2024. 

Adam Pearson plays Oswald in this film. I have to say he still does a glorious job as this character Because he does such a wonderful job of being that jealous and self-centered character that just wants attention and wants everything to go in the way. Now the character of Oswalt is incredible because you can kind of understand why he hates Edward because you know Edward is getting all this attention he gets the leading role in the play and Oswald is jealous of that because he's not getting any attention he gets ignored by Ingrid because she Think that Edward in about actor than he is. The scene where Oswald  tells Ingrid That he should have been the main character in the point Edward and it does make sense because he's jealous of Edward getting more attention than he is and you can tell why he doesn't really like him and his co star he wants to do the play without him and wants everything to go his way. The chemistry between him and Sebastian Stan is tremendous. You can tell that both of these actors are having a ton of fun  In this film.  

However as terrific at the acting is I think the best thing in this movie is the directing by Aron Schimberg because what I love about his director and that he he does such a spectacular job of tackling the subject of people with facial deformities how people view them as horrible and disgusting and how they get mistreated which is really sad because this does happen a lot in real life because people are just dicks who treat other people like complete Complete garbage and not laying them open up of who they are so I am happy that he treated this subject really seriously. I also love the message he puts in this film how it's okay to be different and I think it conveyed the method well because we're not all the same everyone has flaws and nobody is perfect and it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside be happy of who you are on the inside I think he did a tremendous job With that as well as get it does an overall astonishing job directing the film.

So in conclusion I still love this film Because the storyline revolving around Edward is really powerful and really sad because Edward is a person who constantly Aways game in front of because of the way he works and you legit feel bad for him and you want him to live a happy life. Not to mention Sebastian Stan gives what is best performances of the entire year add the character of Edward you can tell he had a lot of fun playing this character. Also I love the message how It's okay to be different and don't worry about what other people think of you, just think about you and what makes you happy and it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, it really matters what you look like on the inside. Also this movie is probably up there with Menari from 2020 as one of the most powerful and one more emotional A24 films. Also this film is probably up there with Everything Everywhere All At Once At One of my favorite A24 films. Also this film is easily in my top 5 favorite films of 2024. I highly recommend you watch this film especially if you like After Yang with Colin Farrell. Then I'm sure you're going to like this one as well. I give this movie a 10/10.
