Here is My Movie Review of Left Behind
So basically what happens is that you have this flight attendant named Rayfor Steele and here is this pilot who is flying this airplane but suddenly people start to disappear for no reason and his daughter Chloe Steele is trying to find her younger brother and her mother who have also disappeared and the soon realize that this was god's plan to send all the humans somewhere else so essentially the Rapture had happened and it's up to Rayfor Steele Find his daughter Chloe Steele and land the plane and that's been the way what the story is for this film. To be honest the storyline in this movie is probably the dumbest storyline I have ever seen for a film because get the idea alone of people randomly disappearing off of a plane and random things start to happen and i guess it's about to be like the end of the world because weird stuff is happening so It is about to be like the Rapture but they don't even refers that much they talk about it a little bit but not all that much.
Now the acting in this movie is horrible because nobody is trying and this is without doubt well the worst acted films of 2014. Also this movie is with Rim of The World from 2019 and one of the worst acted films of the 2010s.
Now let's talk about Nicolas Cage because he is a really fantastic actor and he is up there with Paul Rudd as one of my favorite actors of all time and even in a horrible movie he is still entertaining in it like in the movie Deadfall which is one of the worst films he has done. but I enjoyed it In a bad then good kind of way because of his performance. I also enjoyed him in other films I've seen like Pig, Redfield, and Predators of the Gastonland. Along with a bunch of other films I've seen him in. But unfortunately this is probably the worst movie I have ever seen from him because of his performance as Rayfor Steele because his performance is too subtle. Now the interesting thing is Nicholas Cage can be subtle in his movies like Rumble Fish, Astro Boy, Birdy. But here it doesn't work because it really feels like he is not happy doing this movie because he is like wherever I'm Nicholas Cage I'm a pilot. Time for me to fly this plane to get a paycheck. I'm not even kidding, that's how he asked throughout this whole movie and doesn't feel like he is having fun . Even in a bad film like Deadfall you can tell that he is having fun in the movie as Eddie because he is just overreacting and not taking it seriously. But the character of Rayfor Steele Is terrible because he's like completely happy in this movie. He isn't even worried that the world is ending and it feels like he did a bunch of drugs because it legitly feels that he is definitely high because He's just acting all nonchalant about the Rapture happening. You also don't care about him because even when he's reunioning with his daughter you don't really feel it at all because one he's just acting really weird throughout this movie and two they didn't don't have really good chemistry in the film at all. The chemistry between him and Chad Michael Murray, Cassi Thompson, Lea Thompson is average.
Chad Michael Murray Plays Chloe Steele´s friend. Buck Williams in the film. I have to say he is really awful in the film because his performance it's just so bland and uninteresting to the point that it just feels like he is sleepwalking throughout his performance. But the character of Buck Williams is nothing, he is just there to be Chloe Steele´s love interest and that's all he is there to do just find her attractive and that is that. The chemistry between him and Nicolas Cage is average.
Cassi Thompson plays Rayfor Steele's daughter Chloe Steele in this film. I have to say she is really terrible in this film because all she does it's just go over the top or just sleep walks throughout her performance. But the character of Chloe Steele Is awful because she just freaks out that the world is ending and goes towards Church to I guess talk to somebody of why God is making people disappear. It's just very dumb it just does not make any sense whatsoever. To be honest I didn't even care when she was reuniting with her dad because it is just so forced and uninteresting to watch because Well one they don't really develop their relationship really well at all and two they they are just acting where to another. The chemistry between her and Nicolas Cage is okay.
Leah Thompson plays Chloe Steel´s mother Irena Steel In the film. I understand much like the rest of the cast in this movie she is terrible because it just feels like she's just going through the motions and just doing this movie for money. But the character of Irena Steel And awful because the way she just asked to her daughter and saying that her father is going to come back home and she don't even worry that her husband is stuck on a plane well the world in the ending it just does not make any sense and the bonding between her and her daughter Chloe Steele is not believable at all you don't believe for a minute that they are mother and daughter in the film. The chemistry between her and Nicolas Cage is average.
But the worst thing about this movie is the directed by Vic Armstrong because I don't know what he wanted this movie to be because it is a drama film but I feel more like a religious film in the religious aspects in this movie and the messages that he tries to put into the film are just so boring And an interesting not to mention the film bashes you over the head with it and expecting you to take this religion stuff seriously but you really can't because it's not that interesting in the film no there have been movies that have been really good really just films like first reformed with Ethan Hawke that is a very awesome religious movie it shows the dark side of religion of how much it can corrupt you but with this movie they just do it for no reason. Also the drama with the characters did not work either just feels like an afterthought and it doesn't feel like there's no effort in the character development or the dialogue. So overall I think he did a terrible job directing the film.
So in conclusion I really hate this film because the storyline was not interesting, it was very weird and didn't make much sense at all. But the thing I hate about this movie is the religious themes in the film because it's just not interesting in this movie because it just keeps bashing you over the head with the religious elements and it just does not work whatsoever. This is probably up there with the Amazing Spider-Man 2 as one of the worst films of 2014. Not to mention this movie is up there with War Machine with Brad Pitt as one of the worst films of the 2010s. It is one of the most boring films of the 2010s. Also if I made like a top 50 worst films that I have seen this will probably land in the top 10 maybe even top five even. But the biggest problem with this movie is Nicolas Cage´s performance because he is just way too subtle in the film and like I said before I don't mind if Nicolas Cage gives a subtle performance. But here it doesn't work because it's just not Entertaining at all to be honest. If Nicolas Cage went over top couple times in this film his performance would have been so bad that it's good like his performance as Eddie in Deadfall. I say just skip the film, it is not worth your time.To be honest you'll have better time watching Renfield at least with that one Nicolas Cage does go over the top in the film. Also that film is a lot more fun and way more entertain the watch than this one. I give this movie a 0/10.
