Here is My Movie Review of Balto
So basically what happens is that it tells the real life story of Balto who Is a famous sled dog that delivered the medicine in Alaska in order to get to all the sick kids who needed it. Then you have this dog named Steele who wants to deliver medicine with his group of dogs so he can be deemed as a hero. So it's up to Balto to beat Steele and deliver the methane To the kids and that's basically what the story is for this film. Now the storyline in this film is relatively accurate to the real life events that happened In 1925. Also The storyline is very similar to the movie Togo from 2019 because in that film the same thing happened where the dog had to deliver the medicine to all the thick kids so they can get better but the difference was that the dog in that movie was named Togo.
The voice acting in this movie is still terrific because you can tell that they are having fun as their characters. Also I think this film is probably up there with The Lion King from 1984 the best acted films of the 90s. I also like how the film has a lot of big named after like Jim comings and Kevin Bacon and Bob Hoskins.
However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Kevin Bacon as Balto. Now the character of Balto is really accurate to his real-life counterpart because he really wants to do everything from medicine back to the town to Cure all the sick kids and in real life that's exactly what he did back in 1925. Probably the best moment with Balto is when he returns to the town with the medicine. Not only was it a really powerful perfect scene but it makes sense because in real life Bonto delivered the medicine back to the town and the people were able to cure all the sick kids with it. It is probably the strongest moment of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Bob Hoskins, Bridget Fonda, and Jim Cummings is still perfect. Fun fact actors like Kelsey Grammar, Dennis Leary, David Hype Pierce, and Steve Buscemi were All considered two voice Balto.
Bob Hoskins voices Boris in the film. I have to say he still does a spectacular job as the character. Now Boris as a character is really incredible because he has shown that he really cares about Balto and wants him to deliver the medicine to the kids so they can get better. Probably the best moment with Boris is when he is trying to save Balto From drowning in the cold water and not only is it a really nail biting scene but it makes sense because Boris needed to save Balto because he fell into the water. It is probably the darkest moment of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Kevin Bacon is excellent. Fun fact actors like Edward Asner, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, Danny DeVito, Mark Hamill, Eugene Levy, Nathan Lane, Jim Carrey, Tommy Lee Jones, Bill Murray, Anthony Hopkins, Sylvester Stallone, and Ian McKallen We're all considered to voice Boris.
Bridget Fonda voices Jenna In the film. I have to say she still does a remarkable job as the character. Now Jenna as a character is really incredible because she really cares about Balto and wants him to deliver the medicine to care for all the sick kids. Probably the best moment with Jenna Is where she tells Steele that he is lying because he says that Balto died in the Blizzard. Not only was it a really dark moment but it makes sense because she didn't believe what Steele said was true. It is probably the most suspenseful moment of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Kevin Bacon is perfect. Fun fact actresses like Michelle Pfeiffer, Julia Kavner, Carrie Fisher, and Nicole Kidman were all considered to voice Jenna.
Jim Cummings voices Steele in the film. I have to say he still does a magnificent job as the character. Now the character of Steel is really interesting because he is shown to be very selfish and his motivation is to deliver the medicine himself so he can get all the credit and be praised as a hero. Probably the best moment with Steel is when he confronts Balto on the mountain and tells him that he should be the one that should deliver the mention to the kids. Not only was it really suspenseful. But it makes sense because Steel didn't want Balto to help him. It is probably one of the most intense and shocking moments of the entire film. The Rivalry between him and Balto is perfect because he wants to prevent him from getting the medicine back to the town and he wants to do it so he could take all the credit and damn himself as the hero. The chemistry between him and Kevin Bacon is outstanding. Fun fact actors like J.K Simmons, John Goodman, Brandon Fraser, Brian Doyle Murray were all considered to voice Steele.
Now the directing by Simon Wells is really interesting because he also directed the Prince of Egypt which is one of the best DreamWorks films because I liked the way he directed that, from making it really dark and really serious. I have to say he did a brilliant job directing this film because he basically got everything from the real life story accurate because Bonto was a famous slide dog. He traveled through nome Alaska to get the medicine back to town to cure all the kids from the sickness. I think it is really tremendous of how you did that.
So in conclusion I still really enjoyed this movie. The storyline was really incredible because it was accurate to the real life events surrounding Balto, how he journeyed through Alaska and Brought the Medicine back to town to cure all the sick kids. Also Kevin Bacon's performance as Balto is really terrific and entertaining. Also the character Arc that Balto goes through is excellent because at first he doesn't think he can travel throughout Alaska but as the film goes on he starts to develop more courage to the point that can actually travel in Alaska and get the medicine to cure the sick kids. Also still is a really interesting villain because he is very selfish because he believes that he does the task better than Balto Deem himself as a hero. I highly recommend you watch the film especially if you like Togo from 2019 with Willem Dafoe. Then I'm sure you're going to like this one. I give this Movie a 10/10.
