Here is My Movie Review of The Killing of A Sacred Deer

Now when it comes to this film I always really enjoyed it because of the psychological tone of the film By having it focus on this guy named Steven Murphy who is trying to provide money for his family But then he meets this Martin Lang who is obsessed with him and wants to be a part of his family so Steven Murphy has to figure out a way to get Martin Lang away from his family. In that concept alone is perfectly executed in the film. In fact this is in my top 10 favorite films of 2017.

Now the storyline in this movie is incredible because it focuses on this guy named Steven Murphy who is trying to Provide money for his family but then he meets this guy named Martin Lang who is obsessed with him and wants to be a part of his family but Steven Murphy refuse this so Martin Lang decides to get Steven Murphy to kill his whole family so he can be a part of it. So it's up to Steven Murphy to Prevent that from happening by trying to stop Martin Lang from stalking and terrorizing him and his family and that's basically what the story is for this film. I have to say the storyline is really interesting because it reminds me a lot of salt burn from 2023 because in that film a Oliver Quick manipulated the family so he can take over the University. Now in this film it is has the same concept except rather than taking over a university you have a guy who wants to provide for his family but Martin Lang is obsessed with him and tries to break him by psychologically abusing him trying to be a part of his family.

Now the performance says in this movie are incredible in fact this is probably the best acted film of 2017 because you could tell that all the actors are giving some of the most emotional and most captivating performances in the film and I think the acting is up there with the acting in The Shape of Water add one the best acted films of 2017.

Now Colin Farrell Is a incredible actor he has given some really powerful and really awesome performance like in The Lobster, The Batman, The Penguin, After Yang, and phone booth But in this film give one month emotional and one of us captivating performance is as Steven Murphy they'll be scenes where Steven Murphy is very calm but then they'll be moments where he will be really scared and Colin Farrell pulled off both sides of the character perfectly. Now the character of Steven Murphy the character you really feel bad for because this is a guy who's going through a lot of stress because he has to provide money for his family but he also has to deal with the deranged lunatic who is obsessed with him that being Martin Lang Who wants to be a part of Steven Murphy's family. The scenes with Steven Murphy are incredible whether it's him meeting Martin Lang for the first time or him going crazy and killing his entire family because Martin Lee tells him to do it and it deadly to some really entertaining and some really messed up moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Nicole Kidman, Raffey Cassidy, and  Barry Keoghan Is perfect. 

Now Nicole Kidman Is a terrific actress she has given some really awesome performances like in The Northman and The Golden Compass among other films. Now this film that's no different she still gives a really incredible and emotional performance as Steven Murphy's wife Anna Murphy. Also you can tell Nicole Kidman is having a lot of fun as this character. Now Anna Murphy as a character An incredible because you can tell that she really cares about her husband Steven Murphy and wants to help him figure out why Martin Lang is stalking him and the rest of the family. The scenes with Anna Murphy are incredible weather with her welcoming Martin Lang into the house or her Trying to tell her husband Steven Murphy that everything could be okay it does lead to some really entertaining some really creepy moments throughout the film. The chemistry between her and Colin Farrell is excellent.

Raffey Cassidy plays Steven Murphy's daughter Kimberly Kim Murphy in the film and her performance is really incredible in fact she probably get the most emotional performance of the entire film because she gives real and really powerful depth to the character of Kimberly Kim Murphy because out of the whole family she is the one who doesn't think Martin Lang is a terrible person in fact she starts to develop feelings toward them despite him being a creepy stalker. The scenes with Kimberly Kim Murphy are incredible especially the scenes of her fall in love with Martin Lang And him giving her flowers it does lead to some really emotional some really exquisite moments of the film in fact the romance between Kimberly Kim Murphy in Martin Lang It's the strongest thing in the film. The chemistry between her and Colin Farrell is brilliant. 

However the absolute standout of the entire film is  Barry Keoghan Now he really tremendous actor because he has given some really powerful and Incredible performance in films like Saltburn, Eternals and The Banshees of iniersherin And with this film that's no different still give the really terrific and mesmerizing performance. Now he plays our main villain Martin Lang and this is got to be what the creepiest but what the most incredible performances of the entire film because you can tell that Barry Keoghan owns the role of playing this really creepy and obsessed stalker who wants to be a part of Steven Murphy's family. Now the character of martin Lang is a really incredible and downright creepy character because when you first see him he is really nice too this family he really cares about Steven Murphy But then at the film goes only starts to go absolutely crazy and he becomes obsessed with Steven Murphy's family To the point that he wants to be a part of his family but Steven doesn't want him to so he tried to give him to kill his whole family So he can take it over If guys similar to Oliver Quick in Saltburn how that character want to kill this family so he could take over the University and in this film Martin Lang failed. Well Oliver Quick succeeded In his goal but both of these characters are very similar in terms of personality and being crazy. The fins with Martin Lang are really incredible whether it's him meeting Steven Murphy for the first time or him trying to romance Kimberly Kim Murphy by liking the flower that he gives him or him going crazy getting Steven Murphy to kill his family It definitely to some downright horrifying and some really suspenseful moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Colin Farrell is fantastic.

Now let's talk about Yorgos Lanthimos because here he is a really talented director He has directed a lot of tremendous films like Kinds Of Kindness, The Lobster, The Favourite, and Begonia. Now I will say though i think his best directed film was The Lobster because he is able to tell a tragic love story about David wanting to find love and be happy. But I still think he did a terrific job directing this film because why I like about his directing the way he develops these characters because Steven Murphy is a guy who is struggling financial way he want to provide money for his family but he's also Dealing with a deranged lunatic that being Martin Lang Who is obsessed with him and wants to be a part of his family. Also martin Lang gets character development Because he comes off very nice and he generally cares about Steven's family Even though he is crazy to the point that he wants to take Steven's family from him you understand where he coming from because he really cared about this family Even though he gets Steven Kill his whole family. i also like how he tackled the subject of obsession because there are people out there who obsess about a person or a thing and they will not stop until they achieve like the goal of getting after consulting some girl or getting a lot of money and can make them go absolutely nuts to the point they become deranged stalkers and they go down a dark path and I think that was very incredible how you took the sub dumped very seriously. i still think he did a terrific job directing the film.

So in conclusion i still really love this film because the storyline is really creepy and really interesting how it revolved around this guy named Steven Murphy who wants to provide for his family and make them happy well dealing with a deranged lunatic named Martin Lang and the concept alone is incredible in the film executes it perfectly and it really reminds me of salt burn because both movies have a similar storyline you have this character who's obsessed with this other character it wants to be a part of his life. I still think that this storyline is up there with the storyline in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri as one of the best story lines of 2017. Also the performances are incredible especially Colin Farrell who probably get one of the most emotional and one the most nail biting performances other than higher career and you can tell that he is having a lot of fun and the character of Steven Murphy. Also Barry Keoghan gives one of his most creepiest and one is the most entertaining performance of the entire career and the character of Martin Lang. I highly recommend you watch this film especially if you like the lobster which also Stars Colin Farrell. Then I'm sure you're going to like this film as well. I give this film a 10/10.
