Here is My Movie Review of Beast of No Nation
So basically you have this kid named Agu and he is spending time with his family doing the war. But then The war get even more violent The point of soldiers killing random people's family members so Agu has to be separate from a family and It runs into the forest and eventually he can ambushed by soldiers and then he gets knocked out and he wakes up and he meets the leader of the soldiers the Commander and he tell them to fight alongside him in the Civil War against ECOMOG. So it is up to Agu to navigate through the war and fight against ECOMOG and survive In the war. That is basically what the story is for this movie.
The acting in this movie is terrific. I still think everyone does a great job as their characters.
Abraham Attah plays Agu In the film. I have to say he's still done an awesome job as the character. What makes Agu Search an incredible and sympathetic character is that you really feel bad for him because he has to watch his whole family die and he has to do everything in his power to survive the war. Probably the best moment with Agu Is when He is trying to outrun the soldiers and he has to watch his brother die in front of him and not only was it really sad but It made sense because he had to watch another one of his family members die in front of him. It is probably the most heartbreaking scene of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Emmanuel Nii Quaye, Ama K. Abebrese, and Idris Elba is still remarkable.
Emmanuel Nii Quaye plays Agu’s friend Strika In the film. I have to say he still does an excellent job as the character. What makes Strika such an awesome character is that Even though he doesn't talk. He still wants to help Agu survive through the war. Probably the best scene with Strika Is where he and Agu are navigating through the war and he He's been shot and he tells Agu With sign language that he is dying and not only was it really depressing but it made sense because Agu had to say goodbye to his friend. It is probably one of the saddest moments in the entire film. The chemistry between him and Abraham Attah is still amazing.
Ama K. Abebrese plays Agu’s mother in the film. Now even though Agu’s Mother doesn't have a whole lot to do In the film but for what he actually still does a marvelous job as the character. What makes Agu’s Mother Such an emotional and sympathetic character is that she really cares about her son Agu And she doesn't want anything bad to happen to him. Probably one of the best moments with Agu’mother Is when she is freaking out that she's been separated from her son and she actually breaks down crying and not only was it really powerful and emotional but it made sense because you didn't want her son Agu to be taken away from her. Is probably the most depressing moment in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Abraham Attah is still outstanding.
However the actor that stole the show in this entire film is Idris Elba as Commandant. What makes the Commandant such a spectacular villain is that he will do anything in his power to win the Civil War against ECOMOG and kill anyone who gets in his way. Probably the best moment with the Commandant is when he tells Agu to kill The one responsible for killing his family by telling him to slice his head open with the sword and you could tell that Agu that want to do it because he does that want to kill anyone and not only was it really dark but it made sense because he had to follow the commandments orders in order to survive. It is probably the darkest scene of the entire film. This is probably up there with Shere Khan from the Jungle Book as one of Idris Elba's darkest performances. The rivalry between him and Agu Is astounding. The chemistry between him and Abraham Attah Is tremendous.
Fun fact this is the very first Netflix original film ever made and I say that Netflix Knocked it out of the park with this brilliant star to their long list of original films.
The directing by Cary Joji Fukunaga Is incredible Because what I liked about his directing is that he does in great job of giving Agu And compelling character arc because at first he is trying to survive Against the war but then he has to fight the war and he has to watch a lot of his soldiers and his friend died in front of him. I think it is really tremendous how he did that.
So in conclusion. I still really enjoyed the film. I like the character arc that Agu Has throughout the film because they have to go through a lot of pain and loss and stress while he's in the war. I still think this is my favorite Netflix original film. I still think the commandant Is one of the best villains of the 2010s. I still think this is my favorite Idris Elba movie. This is still probably in my top 50 favorite Netflix original films. I still think if you enjoyed the film The Catcher Was A Spy with Paul Rudd I still think you'll love this one. I give this movie a 10/10.
