Here is My Movie Review of Renfield
So basically what happens is that you have Dracula's loyal servant Renfield And he is getting sick of following Dracula's orders so he decides to go to a group therapy session To help him try to get out of his toxic relationship with him. But Dracula wants Rendfield to stay with him and be his servant forever. Then you have this police officer named Rebecca Quincy who is still dealing with the loss of her father and she decides to take revenge on Teddy Lobo, the one responsible for his death. So it's up to Renfield and Rebecca Quincy to take down Teddy Lobo and Dracula. So when the field can live a normal life and that is basically what the story is for this movie.
The acting in this movie is remarkable. I think everyone does a fantastic job as their characters and you can tell everyone is having fun in the roles.
Nicholas Hoult plays Renfield in the film. I have to say he still does an extraordinary job as the character. What makes Renfield such a sympathetic character is that you really feel bad for him because all he wants to do is to get out of his toxic relationship with Dracula and live a normal life. Probably the funniest moment in the film is where Rendfield Is at the group therapy session for the first time and he told by the group to discuss his toxic relationship and at first he doesn't want to but eventually he does and their reactions were just really funny not only was it funny but it made sense because they didn't know that he was a servant to a vampire. The chemistry between him and Nicolas Cage, Ben Swartz, and Awkafina Is still really remarkable.
Awkwafina plays Rebecca Quincy in the film. I have to say she still does an excellent job as the character. What makes Rebecca Quincy such a sympathetic character is that much like Renfield you also feel bad for her because she has to deal with the loss of her father and she wants revenge on Teddy Lobo for killing him. Probably the best moment with Rebecca Quincy is when she first meets Renfield In the restaurant. Also her reaction to him killing all those gang members Is not only funny but made sense because she didn't know that he could do that and it is probably one of the funniest moments in the film. Probably one of the funniest running jokes in this movie is whatever Rebecca Quincy says fuck you Kyle and not only is it funny but it makes sense because she find him really annoying. It is probably when the funniest running jokes in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Nicholas Holt is still really incredible.
Ben Swartz Plays Teddy Lobo in the film. I have to say he does an amazing job as the character. What makes Teddy Lobo such a great secondary villain is he is so over the top and cheesy and it works really well. Probably the best moment with Teddy Lobo is where he first sees Renfield and he is scared his mind runs back to his car and he's panicking and not only was it funny but it made sense because he had to watch all his helpers die. The chemistry between him and Nicholas Holt is awesome.
However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Nicolas Cage as Dracula. What makes Dracula such a terrific villain is that he basically just wants to have Renfield serve him forever for the rest of his life. Also you can tell that Nicolas Cage is having fun in the role, he's Completely hamming it up. He's not taking any moment seriously and it works extremely well. Probably the funniest moment in the entire film is where Renfield reads Dracula a book about how to deal with a narcissist and Dracula keeps interrupting him. Not only was it really hilarious but it made sense because Dracula didn't want to listen to him read the book. It is probably the funniest scene in the entire movie. But not only is Dracula really funny, he could be really creepy for example when he tells Rebecca Quinn to use his blood to resurrect her sister. It is probably the darkest moment in the entire film. The rivalry between him and Renfield is tremendous. The chemistry between him and Nicholas Halt is really marvelous.
The directing by Chris McKay Is really interesting because what I like about his directing is that he basically takes the character of Dracula which is supposed to be scary and makes him really funny and over the top and it works really well. But what I also like is that he does a really excellent job of tagging the subject of toxic relationships because in real life there are people who have really bad relationships with their boyfriends or their girlfriends or even best friends so the film overall does an excellent job of Portraying that type of relationship.
So in conclusion This is still one of my favorite movies this 2023 It gives a great message of trying to find your own happiness and teaches you how to be in a good relationship. This movie does a great job being funny. But also really emotional because it does a fantastic job of making you feel bad for Renfield because he just wants to not be in a relationship with Dracula and wants to be happy for once. Also Nicolas Cage Steal the show as Dracula. The romance between Renfield and Rebecca Quincy is still one of the strongest aspects of the film. If you enjoy The Voices with Ryan Reynolds then I'm sure you're going to like this one. I give this movie a 10/10.
