Here is My Movie Review of The Captive

So basically what happens is that you have this guy named Matthew Lane and he is buying a pie for the little daughter Cass. But then he finds out that she has been kidnapped and he wants to find out who did it and it's up to him to find out who kidnapped his daughter and be reunited with her. That is basically what the story is for this movie. I have to say the storyline for this movie is really interesting because kind of a mix of taken with Liam Neeson and a bit of Prisoners Hugh Jackman because both movies have to do with a father trying to rescue the daughter who's been kidnapped and it's basically those films but if taken was taking place in the snow.

Now The acting in this movie is really interested because the worst acted A24 film but to be perfectly honest I never have a problem with any of the performances I always thought everybody does such a tremendous job at the characters. 

However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Ryan Reynolds as Matthew. Lane.Now this is a very different Ryan Reynolds performance because usually when you see Ryan Reynolds do you think of Deadpool or free guy or l movies where he is really funny but in this film he take the Royal extremely seriously and he does subject horrific job it gives one of the more powerful performances that he had ever given. Now the character of Matthew Lang is very interesting because this is the guy that is very much stressed out because he sees his daughter being kidnapped and he wants to do everything in his power to get her back and be reunited with her and the things that he has to go through in this movie are very intense and very suspenseful. Probably the best moment with Matthew Lang is where he is yelling at what the detectives because he is saying that they are not doing their jobs and helping them finding his daughter and it is probably the most disturbing moment of the entire film because again Matthew Lang is desperate to have his daughter back with him. The chemistry between him and Mireille Enos, Alexia Fast, Scott Speedman, and Rosario Dawson is still perfect.  

Mireille Enos plays Matthew Lang's wife Tina Lang In the film. I have to say she still does a spectacular job as his character. Now the character of Tina Is much like her husband is also under a lot stress because she is worried that she'll never see their daughter again and she definitely wants to find their daughter and get her back. Probably the best moment with Tina Is where she find out that her daughter's been kidnapped and she had this big panic attack and not only is it really disturbing but it makes sense because she is worried that they will never see their daughter again and it is probably the most suspenseful moment of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Ryan Reynolds is still excellent 

Scott Speedman plays Detective Jeffrey Cornwall In the film. I have to say he still does a terrific job as this character. Now the character of Detective Jeffrey Cornwall Is really interesting because he wants to help Matthew Lang and Tina Lane find their daughter and figure out who took her. Probably the best moment with Detective Jeffrey Cornwell questing Matthew Lang about the disappearance of his daughter. Not only event really dark but it actually makes sense because he is questing how his daughter got kidnapped and how did it happen and the conversation he has with Matthew Lang is probably one of the most intense conversations of Of any characters in any A24 film because he believes that it is Matthew Lang´s responsible for his daughters kidnapping. It is probably one of the most nail binding moments of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Ryan Reynolds is magnificent.

Rosario Dawson plays Detective Nicole Dunlop In the film. I have to say she still does a remarkable job at the character. Now Detective Nicole Dunlop As a character is really interested because she wants to help Matthew Lang and his wife Tina Lang find their daughter And figure out who and the one responsible for her disappearance. Probably the best moment with Detective Nicole Dunlop Is where she Questions Detective Jeffrey Cornwall What does he want to do with people who can have children and not only is it really disturbing button makes sense because she Worried that this case that they're doing for Matthew Lang leading on a dark path. It is probably a nail biting moment of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Ryan Reynolds is perfect.

Alexia Fast plays Cassandra Lane In the film, I still think she does a Glorious job as this character. Now the character and Cassandra Lane is really interesting because you can just see how scare she is when she gets kidnapped and she really wants to see her father again and being reunited with her mother as well. Probably the best thing with Cassandra Lang is where she is finally reunited with her family and you get to see how happy she is because she missed spending time with them and it's probably one of the most tear-jerking moments of the entire film because she was kidnapped and she was away from her parents for a very long time. The chemistry between her and Ryan Reynolds is still really awesome

Now the best thing about this movie is The directing. by Atom Egoyan Because what I love about his director that he does it fantastic job of making you sympathized with Matthew Lying because any person who has gone through the same thing he went through in this movie that being having a kid be kidnapped and they have to get them back and it's kind of a really difficult subject to talk about but somehow this film he is able to take it extremely seriously and i have to say he does a terrific job of directing this film.

So in conclusion i don't think this movie is as bad at a lot of people say. To be honest I think it's one of the most underrated A24 films ever because it's really entertain to watch Matthew Lane going through all this trouble just to get his daughter back it's really interesting to see Ryan Reynolds give a more dark end serious performance. I still think this is one of the most underrated films of 2014. Now to be honest I do think they're better A24 films than this one like Ex Machina with Oscar Isaac and Everything Everyone All At Once With Ke Huy Quan. But that being said I still think this is a really underrated film. I think more people should give this movie a chance especially if you like the movie Prisoners with Hugh Jackman. I give this movie a 10/10.
