Here is my Movie Review of the Lighthouse 

Now it comes to this film I always loved the film mainly because it is an A24 film because A24 films are really incredible they have been really consistent in terms of quality sure there have been some not so good ones but the majority of them are really incredible. The other reason why I liked this film is because of the two lead actors Robert Pattinson and Willem Defoe Which I get to the performances but those two are incredible. I also really liked the black and white cinematography. Now this is in my top five favorite films of 2019.

Now let's talk about the story languages really simple because it revolved around these two Lighthouse Keepers named Ephraim Winslow and Thomas Wake And their task to watch over this lighthouse in this rough storm that is happening at first everything starts to go well but at the days go by They start to develop Hallucinations and lustful feelings towards this mermaid And they have to try to keep their sanity in checked So they don't go over the deep end And go crazy. That is basically what the story is for this film Now you may think with a premise like this you'll be like okay this sounds really boring it's not that interesting. But the film actually takes this concept and executes In a really smart and well written and executed way. Also you could say that this storyline is kind of like a Extension of the interrogation scene in the Dark Knight because you just have Batman and The Joker just talking to each other In a room for the entire film Because even though Willem Dafoe doesn't play the Joker The arm moments in this film where he does come off like he is playing The Joker in this film.

The acting In this movie Is incredible because it only focuses around two actors and both of these actors do a Stellar job of this film because of the brilliant writing that they're given and I think This movie had the best acting since Avenger then game I will go that far to say this is one of the best acted films of 2019 that's out tremendous the acting is in film.

Now let's talk about Robert Pattinson because this guy is one of the best working actors working today he has given some really amazing performances in films like Good Time, The Rover, The Batman, Tenant, Mickey 17. Now with this film that is no different because Robert Pattinson gives a really powerful and downright showing performance as Ephraim Winslow because when Ephraim Winslow needs to be calm or angry robert Pattinson pulls off besides of the character. Now the character of Ephraim Winslow is really interesting because unlike Thomas Wake who is really loud and eccentric. Well Ephraim Winslow is shown to be really quiet he is shown to be introverted he likes to in his own mind he kind of reminds me of Anton Chigurh From no country for old men because both characters don't really talk that much. But much like Thomas Wake they both want to try and keep their sanity so they don't go crazy and try to kill each other. The scenes with Ephraim Winslow Are tremendous whether it is him and Thomas arguing about how he does not like Thomas's cooking. Or the scene at the end where Ephraim Winslow Is climbing up to the top of the lighthouse to like try to fix it and then he lets out this loud scream and it does give the viewers some interpretation like is he guilty of not listening to God or has the demons are possessing the lighthouse it's really awesome and really entertained to watch because not only that really scary but give the viewer some interpretations of what the ending can mean. Now it does lead to some really chilling and some really nail binding moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Willem Dafoe is still exquisite

However the absolute big stand out of the entire film is Willem Dafoe who plays Thomas Wake In the film and look Willem Dafoe has given some really powerful and incredible performances he is one of the best actors working today and one of my favorite actors of all time right up there with Paul Rudd and he has given some really amazing and fun performances like him as the Green Goblin in the Spider-Man movies or him as Bobby in Wild At Heart With Nicholas Cage. Even something as bad as Death Note 2017 he's still gives a really fun and captivating performance as Ryuk. Or him as Jesus Christ in the last Temptation of Christ. Now as for this film this is no different because Willem Defoe probably give one of his best performances outside of the MCU sure he does go over the top but that's what makes his performance so incredible and so entertained to watch because you are watching Thomas Wake go slowly to Madness until he eventually goes crazy. Now the character of Thomas Wake is very different from Ephraim Winslow because Winslow is really calm and mellow he then introvert he likes to be by himself. Well Thomas wake is more eccentric he yells a lot he goes completely over the top he believes that he making the job a lot less stressful by just having a lot of fun. But much like Winslow he is also diving deeper into madness and he's trying to keep his own sanity. The scenes with Thomas wake are probably some of my favorite moments in this film whether it is him getting mad at Ephraim Winslow For not liking his cooking and that was really quite a fact that that's probably the funniest moment in the film along with him like singing and dancing with Ephraim Winslow and what makes all of his moments funny because it is the way that both Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe play these characters that's what makes the dynamic really intense but also darkly comedic the same time. Also again you can make the analogy that Batman and the Joker are interacting even though Joker's not in the movie but Willem Dafoe is so tremendous in the film That he does actually sound like Joker in this film and turn the fifth Manor of them and the way he goes crazy in this film so again you could say that this movie is similar to the interrogation scene in the Dark Knight. The chemistry between him and Robert Pattinson is still tremendous.

Now let's talk about Robert Eggers Because he is probably one of the best horror directors working today because he has directed a lot of tremendous films like the witch with Anya Taylor Joy. The Northman with Alexander Skarsgard, Nosferatu With Bill Skarguard. He's also going to direct the upcoming werewolf film so I'm looking forward to that. Now as for his directing in this film it is tremendous because why I love about his directing that he takes this really basic concept of two people stuck in a lighthouse together and you'll dig a concept like that would be really boring but somehow Robert Eggers takes that concept it makes it not only scary but also really interesting because Because he makes the viewer think about the metaphors behind the storyline as well as what the characters are thinking about and i still think that is really incredible. I also like how he develops the two main characters because Ephraim Winslow Is shown to be really quiet he's very introverted and he likes to be in his own train of thought let's go and doesn't talk that much. Well what Thomas wake is a lot more energized and eccentric he's really loud he likes to talk a lot and he gets more angrier than Winslow because anything can cause the sky to fly off the handles and go on a massive crash out at any time because he does lose his temper in some parts of the film. So I think it is really incredible how he did that. Overall I think he did a stellar job directing this film.

    So in conclusion this is still one of my favorite movies of 2019 because what I love is actually the storyline this concept of just two lighthouse Keepers in a lighthouse trying to keep their Sandy if they brilliant concept and you'll think it'll be really boring it's like okay this is a movie about two lighthouse Keepers this doesn't seem interesting. But somehow to film makes it really interesting and really engaging and it is probably up there with the storyline in everything everywhere all at once with Ke Huy Quan in terms of having the best storyline of a24 but then that makes the movie terrific and as incredible as it is is of course our two main actors both robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe they play off each other perfectly and they give really powerful and really nail biting performances But yet they give two different performances because Robert Pattinson is a lot more mellow and subdued with his performance Willem Defoe it's a lot more eccentric and over the top with his performance but both actors are really tremendous as Ephraim Winslow Winslow and Thomas Wake. Also also there are a lot of really fun and memorable moments whether it is Thomas yelling at Ephraim Winslow about him hitting his cooking or or when slow trading Thomas Wake like a dog and drag him outside to get him to do more chores. Or that really dark and haunting ending of Ephraim Winslow Going up to the top of the lighthouse and screaming and it does lead to some really darkly comedic and some really heart pounding moments in the film. Also the ending of the film does a great job of making the viewer theorize about what is going on like is Winslow screaming because he disappointed God Or did the mermaid possess him the one that him and Thomas had lustful feelings towards it kind of gives you this Inception type ending Where the viewer can theorize and try to figure out how they would interpret the ending. I still think this film has one of the best endings of any A24 film. I highly recommend you watch the film especially if you really enjoy amazing and terrific A24 films like Everything Everywhere All At Once With Ke Huy Quan. Then I'm sure you're going to like this film as well. I give this movie a 10/10.
