Here is my movie review of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. So basically what the plot is you have SpongeBob and Patrick. They have to go to Shell City to get King Neptune's Crown back and save Mr Krabs and put an end to Plankton's Plan Z. That's barely what the story is for this movie.
The voice cast is still Terrific for the most part I think the performances are really tremendous however there is one performance that I still don't like.
Tom Kenny voices SpongeBob SquarePants To be honest what is left to say he is so iconic as its character and he does such a tremendous job and you can tell he loves voice in this character ever since the very first episode of the show all the way up to season 14. Now SpongeBob are the character actually go through a really big hair dog because the question if you can save bikini bottom from Plankton he doesn't think he can get the crumb back they can Neptune and he actually doubts himself and the thing that involved his emotional state are some of the most powerful moments of the entire film. Probably the best moment with SpongeBob is where he Tells Patrick that he wants to go home and not only they really that moment but it makes sense because SpongeBob actually has stuff down he doesn't think he can complete the mission. It is probably one of the most heartbreaking moments of the entire film.
Bill Fagerbakke voices Patrick Star And much like what Tom Kenny he also does a excellent job at the character again you can tell that these actors are having a lot of fun as these two characters. Now Patrick Star is exactly how he is in the TV show he's very dumb but he really cares about his best friend SpongeBob and wants to help him get kingdom to his crown back and save bikini bottom from Plankton. Probably the best moment with Patrick Star is he says Sponge Bob Wait. Then SpongeBob said yes. Then Patrick Star says make my chocolate. Not only is it really funny but it makes sense because Patrick really loves ice cream. It is probably the funniest moment of the entire film.
Rodger Bumpass voices Squidward In the film and much like the rest of the cast he is still so entertaining and really fun to watch in this film and you can tell he is still having a lot of fun voicing this character. Squidward at a character have not changed he is still grumpy and still finds SpongeBob annoying and well he doesn't play a huge role in the film he is still really entertained to watch. Probably the best moment with Squidward is where he finds out that SpongeBob is in the shower with him and Sponge Bob says I have to tell you something Squidward. Then Squidward says Whatever it is we can't wait till we get to work. Then Sponge Bob Then no shower at work. Then after a while the sweller he says gets out and not only the really funny but it makes sense because Squidward does not like when SpongeBob bugs him. It is probably the funniest moment of the entire film.
Jeffrey Tambor voices King Neptune In the film. I have to say he still does a terrific job as the character. Now King Neptune at a character is really interesting because he's not evil or bad he just wants his crown back So he can be happy. Fun fact actors like Adam Sandler, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Coogan, Terry Crews, David Koechner, Peter Serafinowicz, Rob Riggle, Ed Helms, Kevin James, Brian Cox, Tim Curry, Dan Castellaneta, Denis Larry. Brandon Fraser, Brad Pitt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Eddie Murphy, Jason Sudeikis, James Woods, John Goodman, Peter Dinklage, J.K. Simmons, Mark Wahlberg, Patrick Stewart, Michael Keaton, Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Liev Shreiber, and Seth MacFarlane were all considered to voice king Neptune.
Mr. Lawrence voices Plankton And much like I said with the other actors he still does a tremendous job as the character you can tell Mr Lawrence is having a lot of fun as this character. No plankton's motivation is the same he wants to steal the Krabby pain formula but he always fails but in this film he surprised succeeds he steel King Neptune's Crown here free this Mr Krabs he opened them restaurant he gets all these customers and he almost succeed in taking over bikini bottom. Probably the best moment with Plankton is where SpongeBob is walking and he accidentally steps on him and SpongeBob says ew I think I stepped in something Any scrapes the bottom of his shoe and plankton starts screaming and not only the really funny but it makes sense because SpongeBob did not see plankton when he was walking because he was so small. It is probably the funniest moment of the entire film.
Now the only performance that did not work for me in this film is Alec Baldwin as Dennis the Bounty Hunter.But the problem is that he takes the role a little too seriously. I mean I get it that here they serious accurate that was serious roles but I feel like he was miscast I think Also he doesn't try to make Dennis the Bounty Hunter funny in the film. I think they should have cast someone like Paul Rudd because he could have made this character funny. Like how he is as Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I think another actor they could have picked should have been Nicolas Cage because he hams up in a lot of his movies he goes over the top and to be honest I think Nicolas Cage would have been the the perfect choice for this character Another actor they could have picked was Bill Nighy because If you wanted to make him more intimidating. Like how he is as Davy Jones from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Another actor they could have picked was Hugh Jackman because he is really funny as the Easter Bunny from Rise of the Guardians. Also Dennis the Bounty Hunter are the character well cool and concept he doesn't really do anything to be honest I would compare him to Mr Paradox from Deadpool and Wolverine because both characters were kind of unnecessary in these films I feel like if you cut both of them out of the films that they were in the movie would have been a lot better because you really only need one villain for a film. Fun fact actors like Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, Paul Giamatti, Nicolas Cage, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Liam Neeson, Ben Stiller, Daniel Craig, William Shatner, Nick Nolte, Paul Rudd, Hank Azaria, Kevin Spacey, Patrick Warburton, Robert Patrick, Dwayne Johnson, Waylon Knight, Christopher Walken, Karl Urban, Josh Brolin, Michael Ironside, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Hugh Jackman, Bill Nighy, Ron Perlman, Christian Bale, and Aaron Eckhart were all considered to voice Dennis the Bounty Hunter.
the directing by Stephen Hillenburg and Mark Osbprne is perfect because what I like about their directing and that they do a really fantastic job of Giving SpongeBob a character Arc because in this film he doesn't know if he is ready to save Bonham from Plankton a doesn't believe that he can do it and there's some really powerful emotional moment that The film does glorious job of showing. I also like how they Show the Friendship between SpongeBob and Patrick because they've been friends for a very long time they like to make each other happy and the bonding between the two characters is the strongest aspect of the entire film, I think it is really excellent of how they did that.
So in conclusion i still love this film because the storyline is really fun and entertaining and the idea of SpongeBob and Patrick going out of bikini Bottom does work and they would eventually do that in the second movie The SpongeBob Movie sponge out of water and I also there's a lot of really funny moment but there were a lot of emotional moments as well and it worked surprisingly well. The scene of Sponge Bob spitting at my crabs and he says there i think I made my point and that is one of the funniest moments of the entire film. I think this is when the best movies of 2004 right up there with the Incredibles. To be odd that there's really one thing I didn't care for in this film was Dennis the Bounty hunter be good to be honest he just feels really disposable because if you cut him out of this film the movie would not be any different. To be honest I think they should have casted someone else like Nicholas Cage or Paul Rudd I think both of those actors who have been really funny I can death with the Nicolas Cage just hamming it up at the character not taking any of it seriously. I think that one made Dennis the Bounty Hunter a much more memorable and funny villain. But other than that the movie is still perfect. I give this movie a 10/10.
