Here is my Movie Review of 12 Angry Men

Now when it comes to this movie I always really enjoyed it in fact it really reminds me of the film Juror #2 from 2024 because both movies take place in Courthouse and both of them have the characters determine if someone is innocent or guilty of the crime that they have committed. 

Now the storyline is really incredible and very simple basically you have these 12 jury members and they have to determine if this one guy who killed someone is guilty or innocent and some of the jury believes that he is innocent well some others believe that he should be sentenced to death and should be guilty for the bad thing he has committed that being murder and they have to vote on whether  the boy is innocent or guilty of killing his father and that's basically what happens it's very simple and very easy to follow. 

Now the acting in this movie is incredible because even though this came out in 1957 the acting still holds up today and you can tell all these actors had a lot of fun playing these characters In fact a lot of people say this is one of the best acted films of all time and I agree with them this film is up there with the acting in Appaloosa as one of the best acted films of all time. 

However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Martin Balsam as Juror #1 Because you give such an emotional and really powerful and captivating performance as this character. Now the character of Juror #1 It's shown to be really calm and he wants to prove to the rest of the jury that the guy might be innocent even when he had argued with the other members of the Jury. He is still able to keep his composure and temper down even when things get really intense. The scenes with Juror #1 is incredible whether  he is meeting the rest of the jury and discussing if the guy is guilty or innocent of the murder for him trying to get the rest of the jury to calm down and it does lead to some really heart pounding and some really iconic moments in the film. The chemistry between him and John Fiedler, Lee J. Cobb, E.G. Marshall, Jack Klugman, Edward Binns, Jack Warden, Henry Fonda, Joseph Sweeney, Ed Begley, George Voskivec and Robert Webber are magnificent. 

John Fiedler Either way gives one of the most somber and one more mellow performances in the film as Juror #2 because he does such a glorious job of playing this character who doesn't talk all that much because he gets really nervous but he also wants to try to figure out if the boy who killed his own father is guilty or innocent. The character of Juror #2 is shown to be very closed off and really shy but he also, much like the rest of the jury, wants to figure out if this guy is innocent or guilty of killing his own father. The scenes with Juror #2 are Probably the most nerve-wracking moments in the film. Either it is him not wanting to talk at first or him trying to say that the boy who killed his own father is possibly guilty. It does lead to some really somber and some really dramatic moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is exhilarating. 

Lee J. Cobb  gives the most intense and suspenseful performances in the film because you can tell that he really dived into this character who has a live anger. He just wants to figure out if the guy is guilty of killing his father so the jury can be over. Now the character Juror #3 is shown to be very hot tempered and gets mad really easily and he believes that the boy is guilty for killing his father and he just wants to get the jury over so he can leave. The Scenes with Juror #3 Are probably some of the most violent and some of the most hard pounding moments in the film especially when he questions the other jury members of why they believe that the boy might be innocent or him causing a riot in the office of all the juries attacking each other and jury number one that has to try to break it up it does lead to some really intense and some really heavy moments throughout the film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is perfect. 

E.G. Marshall Plays Juror #4 In the film and out of all the performances in the film he is probably my favorite because he plays the intelligent one of the jury really well and I can tell that he is having a lot of fun as this character. Now the character of Juror #4 Is probably my favorite character because this is a character that focuses on the facts of what possibly could have happened during the murder and tries to figure out much like the rest of the jury if the guy is guilty or innocent.  The scenes with juror #4 Are probably some of my favorite moments in the film whether it is him doubting Juror #8 ideologies of what could have happened during the murder. Or him voting not guilty against the other 11 Jurors. It does lead to some really iconic and really suspenseful moments between the characters Throughout the film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is magnificent.

Jack Klugman Plays Juror #5 In the film, his performance is brilliant because you can tell that he is having a lot of fun as this character. He gives such a riveting and terrific performance in this film. Now the character of Juror #5 Is really interesting because he is someone who grew up in the violent slums of town where all the violence in Mayhem happened and he wants much like the rest of the jury to figure out if this guy is innocent or guilty of committing murder. The scenes with Juror #5 are terrific Especially the scene of him talking about what it's like to grow up in the slums of the town witnessing all the violence or him trying to tell the other jury members that the guy might be innocent. It does lead to some of the most brilliant and some of the most entertaining moments of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is spectacular. 

 Edward Binns Plays Juror #6 In the film And his performance is really exhilarating because he does such a glorious job with his performance because he plays the voice of reason for the Jury. You can tell that he was having so much heart and emotion to this character and you can tell that he is having a lot of fun in this film. Now the character of Juror #6 Is really incredible because he is kind of like the voice of reason in the film, how he wants to prove that the guy might be innocent or guilty but he also wants to try to keep the other jurors from getting into a massive argument and start turning against each other. The scenes with Juror #6 are probably some of the most  Captivating moments in the film especially the scene where Juror #6 Tells Juror #3 To respect # 9 Because he is elderly and it is one of the most powerful moments of the entire film and Or him in the rest of the Jerry retrain the walk to figure out what was the person's motive who lived across in the apartment it does lead to some really incredible and probably some of the best moments in the film. The  chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is marvelous because you can tell both of these actors are having a lot of fun. 

Jack Warden plays Juror #7 In the film he also gives the second most intense performance of the entire film because he does such a tremendous job of playing this narcissistic selfish member of the jury. Now the character of #7 As shown to be really selfish even though he wants to determine if the guy who killed his father is guilty or innocent but he's more concerned with a baseball game rather than getting the jury done. Now the scenes with Juror #7 Are tremendous whether it is him arguing with the jury about wanting to get this trial over with or him talking about the baseball game; it does lead to some really heart pounding and some really brutal moments throughout the film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is brilliant. 

Henry Fonda plays Juror #8 In the film and he probably gives one the most exhilarating and perfect performances in the film because you could tell he's having a lot of fun playing this very smart and very determine character who wants to Prove to the other jury that The guy really did kill his father by stabbing him with the knife and trying to figure out if he is guilty or innocent of what he did. The scenes with Juror #8 Are probably some of my favorite moments in the film especially the scene where he's showing the other juries the knife and drawing out a picture of how could the murder could have went down with the guy and his father and that whole scene of him and the rest of the jury's fighting each other If the guy should be Send it to death or be innocent it does lead to a lot of memorable and terrific and Intelligent moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is spectacular. 

Joseph Sweeney plays Juror #9 In the film And his performance is probably one of the most heartwarming and probably one of the most beautiful performances of the entire film because he does such an outstanding job of playing this character who is very thoughtful and really down to earth. Now Juror #9 as a character is shown to be very thoughtful and really nice and he believes that the guy who committed the murderer could be possibly innocent rather than guilty and he wants the rest of the journey to come forward with their answers of what they think. The scene where Ledgery number 9 inmates that he changed his vote because he believed that the guy is innocent is probably one of the most powerful and one of the most captivating moments in the film. Or him arguing with the rest of the jury to figure out who is right And it does lead to some really powerful and some really remarkable moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam  is incredible. 

Ed Begley plays Juror #10 In the film and his performance is really tremendous In this film and you could tell that he was having a lot of fun playing this xemaphobic wow mouth who essentially believes that the guy is not innocent he clearly committed the murder of his dad. Now the character of Juror #10 Is shown to be very xenophobic is quick to anger he wants to get this jury over with because he just believes that the guy who killed his father is automatically guilty and should be sentenced to death. The scenes with Juror #10 Are probably some of the hardest moments to watch. Either it is him delivering that Prejudice speech or him trying to cause the other juries to attack each other and try to prove that the guy is guilty. It does lead to some really heart pounding and brutal moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is perfect. 

George Voskivec plays Juror #11 In the film, he gives a really fun and fantastic performance as this character because you could tell that he is having a lot of fun as this character. Now the character of Juror #11 Is really interesting because he believes that everyone should count and he wants everyone to have a say and what they think might have happened during the murder to determine if the guy is guilty or innocent. The scenes with Juror #11 Are incredible Especially when he tries to testify against the old man to determine if he was really during the murder. Or during the final debate when he still votes not guilty it still leads to some really incredible and iconic moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is extraordinary. 

Now the very last performance is of course Robert Webber Who plays the 12th and final jury member which is Juror #12 And he does a stellar job with his performance and you can tell that he is having a lot of fun as this character. Now the character of Juror #12 Is shown to be either way distracted but he, much like the rest of the jury, wants to figure out if the guy is innocent or guilty of killing his father and wants to have a final conclusion to determine what the outcome will be. The scenes with Juror #12 Are really interesting because there are so many incredible moments with this character whether it is him watching Juror #3 finally says  guilty in him and the rest of the juries leaving the room or him arguing with the wetness and questioning him if he really saw everything play out with the murder it does lead to some really iconic and perfect moments throughout the film. The chemistry between him and Martin Balsam is perfect. 

However the best thing about this movie is the directing by Sidney Lumet  because what I love about his directing is that he does a Stellar job of disgusting the subject of what a jury does how how they determine if a person is innocent or guilty of the crime they have committed and they're literally a lot of arguments because some people will believe that the guy is guilty while others believe that the person might be innocent. I also like how he develop all these characters and give them different personalities for example Juror #3 is known to be really angry and believe that the person is guilty Juror # 9 It's shown to be very humble and soft-spoken and believed that the person is innocent. Or someone like Juror #10 is shown to be very xenophobic and doesn't believe that the person is innocent and constantly argues with the other members of the jury. So I think he did a stellar job of developing these characters. I also like how he shows how dark a jury can get in terms of people getting riled up and they might call they fight to break out.  So now the interesting thing is how he discussed it. So overall I think he did a stellar job directing this film.

So in conclusion I still really love this film simply because of the simple storyline which is of course people trying to figure out if a guy who committed murder is either guilty or innocent and while the concept is pretty simple the film executes it perfectly. But the thing I really like is all the performances the standout performances for me are from Martin Balsam as Juror #1 because he gives one of the most captivating and one of the best performances in the film. Also E.G. Marshall as Juror #4 Is probably my favorite performance of the film. It does a glorious job of giving this character so much heart but also a lot of brilliant moments throughout the film. Also John Fiedler the film as Juror #2 give a really terrific and really beautiful performance because he did such a great job of playing this quiet and timid jury who doesn't like talking that much and likes to keep it to himself. At all you can tell that he is having a lot of fun as this character. Also the rest of the actors are incredible. Also every single moment is incredible whether you're talking about Jury #8 talking about the knife and comparing it or Juror #3 starting arguments with the other members of the jury it does lead to some really iconic and some really amazing moments in the film. I highly recommend you watch this film especially if you like courtroom drama films like Juror #2 with Nicholas Hoult from 2024. I'm  sure you're going to like this one as well. I give this film a 10/10.
