Here is My Movie Review of Juror #2

Now this is a movie I knew about but I never saw a single trailer. Now the budget for this movie was around 37 million But it only made back 27 million so it did under perform at the box office. But still a lot of people really liked the film. So I watched the film. I have to say this is one of the best movies of 2024. In fact, this is one of my favorite movies of that year because of the performances which I'll get to because I have a lot to say about the acting and the directing. 

Now the storyline in this movie is tremendous because it focuses on this guy named Justin Kemp Who is this journalist and he has called in for jury duty because he has to testify against this guy named James Michael who possibly killed this woman outside of a bar and he has to join in a jury to determine the fate of this guy to see if he's guilty or not guilty and also He has with his wife Allison Crewson who is pregnant with their baby and she is worried that justin won't figure out if james michael is guilty or innocent adds up to Justin Kemp To determine if James Michael is guilty of murdering the woman but also trying to figure out if he accidentally ran over someone when he was driving home and that's basically The storyline to the film. I have to say this is probably the best storyline of 2024. I think it's up there with the storyline in The bike riders at one of the best story lines of 2024. 

Now as much as I enjoy the storyline the acting is the thing that makes the movie perfect because this is probably one of the best acted films of 2024 because of all the performances on Incredibles especially the main lead in this film Nicholas Halt. Which I will talk about. 

Easily the actor that still the entire movie is Nicholas Hoult who plays our main character Justin Kemp and his performance is incredible because you give such a raw and such an emotionally perfect performance and keep in mind Nicholas Hoult Is a tremendous actor you know if you seen him in stuff like The Menu, Renfield Jack the Giant Slayer. But I will say though I think he wasn't that great in Superman I thought his Lex Luther was really stupid especially by the third act where he just goes full Cartman with him screaming and crying I thought he went way too over the top. But I thought he was okay in the first two acts. Also you can tell that he is having a ton of fun in this movie again Nicholas Hoult he owns the role of Justin Kemp and you can tell that a lot of people have praised his performance. That's how great of an actor he is. But the character of Justin Kemp is a character that the film does a glorious job of developing because this is a guy that you really feel bad for man we because he's going through a lot of stress he had to attend jury duty to prove that James Michael is probably innocent or guilty not to mention his wife Allison Crewson   is having a baby and he questions if he accidentally ran over that woman and you can tell That he really wants to prove that James Michael might be innocent or guilty. So you can tell that this guy is going through a lot of stress and the film does a glorious job of making you feel bad for him. The scenes with Justin Kemp are incredible in fact all of it scenes are probably my favorite moments throughout the film especially when he is questioning the jury if Jason Michael should be guilty or be innocent and that scene of him talking to his wife about if the accident we ran over That woman who was in the middle of the road it does lead to some really heart pounding and some really brutal and tragic moments in the film and  Nicholas Hoult just pulled off doing all of these tragic moments perfectly. The chemistry between him and Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, Zooey Deutch, and Gabriel Basso are terrific. 

Someone else I really want to talk about who gave a really magnificent performance is Toni Collette  who plays Faith Killebrew In the film and she does a stellar job as the character because you can tell that she is giving a really captivating and a really exhausting performance. Now the character of Faith Killebrew It's really interesting because this is a character who is a district attorney who wants to help Justin Kemp trying to figure out if Jason Michael is innocent or guilty and she orders him to partake in a jury and along with the other members of the jury to determine If Jason Michael is guilty or not. The scenes with Faith Killebrew are probably some of the best moments in this film. like her introduction scene where she introduces Justin Kamp to the courtroom and tells them that he has to figure out if Jason Michael is innocent or not. But my favorite moment in the film is in the third act where Justin Kamp is sitting near the courthouse and Faith Killebrew Sits with him and She tell them that when people try to do the right thing they sometimes end up doing the wrong thing and  even though they have good intentions to try to solve the problem and she even tell them that Jason michael is not a psychopath he's just a regular guy that needs help. It is my favorite moment in the entire film. It does lead to some really powerful and some really mesmerizing themes in the film. The chemistry between her and Nicholas Hoult is remarkable. 

Now let's talk about J.K. Simmons because look, this guy has given some really tremendous performances like in the Spider-Man movies. Palm Springs, Whiplash, Kung Fu Panda 3, The Cider House Rules. Now as for this film that is no different because he does a Splendid job as the character of Harold because he gives such a really mellow and really Stern performance and I think it's one of my second  favorite performances that he's given outside of the MCU because my favorite performance that J.K. Simmons has given outside of the MCU. Which is of course his performance in  Whiplash as Terrence Fletcher. But this performance is still magnificent. Also you can tell that he is having a lot of fun as this character. Now the character of Harold is really remarkable because this is a guy who wants to help Justin Kemp try to figure out if Jason Michael is guilty or innocent of what he did to the woman when he assaulted her. The scenes with Harold are really incredible like when he's talking to the jury trying to get them to decide if Jason Michael is guilty or innocent or the scene where he meets Justin Kemp for the first time does lead to some really intense and some really Fantastic moments in the film. Also both him and Nicholas Hoult play off each other perfectly. 

Zooey Deutch Gives probably the most emotional performance as the character of Allison Crewson  Because she gets one of the most beautiful and one of the most captivating performances as this character and you can tell that she is having a lot of fun in this movie also when The character of Allison Crewson  has to be nervous or scared or happy she  does a terrific job of balancing of the emotional sides of the character. Now the character of Allison Crewson Is probably the most emotional character in the film because this is a character who is dealing with a lot she is about to have a baby with her husband Justin Kamp and she wants to know if he was drinking at the time he ran over the girl but she also wants him to complete the jury to try to figure out if James Michael is innocent or guilty of hurting the woman. The scenes with Allison Crewson Are probably Are probably some of the most captivating and some of the most beautiful moments in the film especially when she is having her baby in the two bond with it or her asking Justin if he was drunk when he accidentally ran over the woman and she's waiting for him to answer and it's one of the most heart pounding moments in the film it does lead to some really powerful and some really heavy moments in the film. Also she and Nicholas Hoult play off each other perfectly. That's how magnificent their chemistry is. 

Gabriel Basso Probably give one the most intense performances as the character Of Jason Michael and you can tell that he is having a lot of fun as this character and he does  such a glorious  job of playing this character who is going through a lot of pain because he doesn't want to be sentenced to death he want to be proven innocent by the jury. Now the character of Jason Michael is really interesting because this is a guy who has mistreated this girl and he feels really guilty of what he do and he wants to be proven innocent and he doesn't want to go to jail. The scenes with Jason Michael are really interesting because his introduction scene is really amazing with him begging the jury not to send him to jail wacky bags Faith Killebrew not to send them to death when he is in the interrogation room it does lead to some really powerful and some really nail biting moments in the film. Also both him and Nicholas Hoult play off each other perfectly. They have such brilliant chemistry and you can tell that both of them were having a lot of fun making this film. 

However, as great as the acting is, the best thing about this movie is the directing by Clint Eastwood. Now this guy has directed some really amazing films like Unforgivable, Sully, Mystic River. Among other films. If I have to say this is probably Clint Eastwood's best directed film He's ever done because what I love about his directing is that he know they still a job of taking this concept of a guy being called to Jury Dewey And trying to prove that this other guy that being Jason Michael is possibly innocent or guilty so he is forced to Decide with the jury what is the fate of this guy on top of that he is about to have a baby with his wife and with a concept like that you may think it is really boring but somehow Clint Eastwood takes this concept and makes it really tragic and really emotional at the same time and the way he does that is developing all the characters. Especially with The character of Justin Kemp Who is going through a lot you know what he is about to have a baby with his wife he doesn't know if this guy should be guilty and sent to jail for attacking a woman or should be let go and resume not guilty and you can tell that it's driving Justin a little crazy and he doesn't want to admit they accidentally ran over the woman with his car so there's complications with that and his wife and I think it did really brilliant of of how Clint Eastwood developed in this character. I also like how he develops the other characters like Justin's wife Allison Crewson  Who is also going through a lot of stuff because she's about to have a baby and she wants her husband Justin to finish this trial and prove that the guy is either guilty or innocent by partaking  In this jury by questioning to all the jury If they vote guilty or not guilty. So they can finish this trial. I also like how he Discusses the subject of jury Dean because they really serious thing because it's all about questioning if someone's innocent or guilty there's a lot of arguments that can be made And they have to vote on oh what's your Motivation for killing this person Or where were you the night someone died And this film takes it really seriously and I think Clint Eastwood did an excellent job of Taking the subject seriously. So I think overall he did a magnificent job directing this film.

So in conclusion I still really love this film mainly because of the storyline because it was a really interesting concept which was of course about this guy named Justin Kemp who is tasked to go to jury duty Do you try to figure out if this guy named Jason Michael who brutally attacked a girl Outside of a bar should be presumed guilty or innocent and he has to decide what the rest of the jury And then he has his wifeAllison Crewson I was about to have a baby with him if she questions if she was drunk and he accidentally ran over the girl. Now that is a brilliant concept and you think with the concept like that the movie will make it really boring but no it actually makes it really engaging and really emotional at the same time. But the thing I liked the most in this movie is the acting, in particular Nicholas Hoult who probably gives one of his best performances of all time as Justin Kemp because he gives so much heart and emotion to this one character and you can tell he is having funAdd this character.  To be honest his performance is so incredible and emotional that I am surprised that the Oscars did nominate him for best leading actor. That's how tremendous his performance was in the film. Also the character of Justin Kemp is so brilliant because the phone does the Florence job and make you Feel bad for him because he is going through a lot of stuff he has to partake and jury duty while taking care of his pregnant wife and taking care of his newborn baby as well as trying to figure out if this guy Jason Michael is guilty or innocent. Also the moments with Justin Kemp are so emotional and incredible whether it is him talking to his wife about  what happened the night when he accidentally ran over that woman and she has questioned if he was drunk at the time. Meeting the jury for the first time we entered the courtroom for jury duty Those two scenes are probably some of the best moments in the film. J.k. Simmons gives another tremendous performance and the character of Harold and you get to tell that he is having a lot of fun. Interactions between him and Justin Kamp are brilliant and you could make the joke that J. Joma Jameson and Lex Luthor have met each other because they are in the same movie. The sins of him and Justin talking to the other members of the jury in the courthouse was really fun to see them try to figure out if they agree if Jason Michael is guilty or if he is innocent. I still think those moments are the best parts of the movie. Also Toni Collette  who plays Faith Killebrew gave a really fun and really captivating performance in the film. Also the character of  Faith Killebrew is really incredible because she is essentially like the one that is in charge of the jury. She wants the trial to go well and for Justin Kemp to determine if the guy who committed the crime is guilty or innocent. Now her interactions with Justin Kemp are incredible whether it's her medium for the first time or her telling the jury to get on with the case and try to determine if Jason Michael is innocent or guilty. It did lead to some really intense and some really amazing moments in the film. Also despite The budget being only 37 million The film still looks tremendous because it really feels like you were with the characters during this whole jury trial thing that is going on in the film. That's how brilliant the cinematography is in this film. Also this film is in my top five favorite films of 2024. Also this is my second favorite film of 2024. My favorite film of that year is Dune Part II. I still think this film is up there with Caddo Lake with Dylan O'Brien as one of the most underrated films of 2024. I highly recommend you watch this film especially if you like really powerful drama films like the Bikeriders with Tom Hardy then I'm sure you are going to like this film as well. I give this film a 10/10.
