Here is My Movie Review Of Skinamarink
Now this is going to be a really interesting review because I'm going to talk about why I think that this film is very interesting in terms of film making and cinematography
Now it comes to this film, this one has been getting very polarizing reviews. In fact it's one of the most polarizing movies of 2023. Some people love this movie. Will some people outright hate it? I enjoyed it and it is one of the best horror movies of 2023. But I don't think it is as good as other horror movies of 2023 like Evil Dead Rise, Renfield, Knock At The Cabin. I think those movies are better than this one but as a horror movie on its own it's really good.
Now this film doesn't really have a storyline . But it does in a way the story focuses on these two kids who found out that their parents disappeared along with the doors and the windows and there's Paranormal hauntings that are happening in their house and that's essentially what the story is. But I like how this film is shot because it's like on this stacky VHS like quality and it looks really good and it does linger on a lot of shots like a doorway or a TV or a couch and it's really good makes the place a lot more creepier and the Paranormal spirits they sound really scary and keep in mind that this film was made on 15 million budget and the Cinema photography looks really amazing and this film was filmed in the director's childhood home Which is actually really interesting because most filmmakers will film in a different location with a different house but the director Kyle Edward Ball filmed it in his own house Which is really incredible. There are some creepy moments in the film that are really good, especially that scene where it just lingers on this toy phone and has this creepy smile. Which is my favorite moment in the film just because the shot lingers on the phone makes the scene even creepier because this is essentially a found footage film. Now the directing by Kyle Edward Ball Is really interesting because he essentially made this with a 15 million budget and filmed it in his own house imagine to show the fears of what children are afraid of in this case the dark because when you are a kid you don't know what Larks in the dark and you get really scared I think the way he approaches It by make it kind of this found footage Is a brilliant idea and I think he executes it perfectly. And you can tell that this was his passion project. You really wanted to make this film a reality and he did and he pulled it off perfectly. So in conclusion I still really enjoy this film even though there's not much of a story I think the cinematography makes the film really amazing especially the shots were lingers on this telephone or the couch and you just hear stag noises throughout the film and there's not much dialogue it does make the film a lot more creepier and a lot more interesting Because of like it sounds like a static TV with the way the noises are integrated into the film. I think this film is up there with Inside with Willem Dafoe as one of the most underrated films of 2023. Now I will say again I think other horror movies like Evil Dead Rise and Renfield are a lot better because they have story lines and the acting in them by the film is really entertaining to watch. I highly recommend you watch this film especially if you like really dark and disturbing horror films like Nefarious with Sean Patrick Flanery. Then I'm sure you're going to like this one as well. I give this film a 8/10.
