Here is My Movie Review of Locked
Now when this film was announced I was really excited for it because it starred two amazing actors that being Bill Skarsgard and Anthony Hopkins. I also enjoyed the idea of the film. It's like what if the movie Locke were a Stalker Thriller film and that was a really interesting concept so I wanted this film and this is probably one of my favorite films of 2025. Now I will say I think Fantastic 4 First Steps is the best movie of 2025. But I think this film is probably the most entertaining film of 2025.
Now the storyline in the film is really simple and really interesting because you have this guy named Eddie Barrish who goes to the mechanic only to find out that his van if still broken so he decides borrow this car And everything seems to be going well until we get the mysterious call from this guy named William who tells Eddie Barrish That he has to follow his orders or else he will kill him and it's up to Eddie Barrish to survive and it turned into a deadly game of cat and mouse and that's basically what the story is for this film. Now the way I can sum up the storyline is that it's mixed between the film Lock and Phone Booth because both of them take place in a car and both of them have mysterious killers psychologically torturing the main character. I have to say the storyline is probably up there with Mickey 17 with Robert Pattinson as one of the best storylines of 2025.
Now the performances in this movie are really interesting because The film only focuses around two characters and both actors do a glorious job with their performances. I think the acting in this film is up there with the acting in The Monkey in terms of what the best acted films of 2025.
Now let's talk about Bill Skarguard. He is a tremendous actor who has given some really awesome performances in films like It, It Chapter 2, Boy Kills The World and The Devil All The Time. Now as for this film that's no different because he still gives a really tremendous and captivating performance performance as the character Eddie Barrish because you can tell that you did the glorious job of acting all stressed out in a really bad situation that being being stalked by a deranged psycho who threatens to kill you if you don't follow his orders. But also again you can tell that he is having a lot of fun in the role and making the film. Now the character of Eddie Barrish you really feel bad for it because he's putting this stressful situation that being getting stocked by a deranged psychopath and being stuck in a car unable to get out so you understand why he is freaking out and why he panics throughout the film he just want to get out of the car and not follow William's orders. The scenes with Eddie Barrish are incredible whether it is him trying to get out of the car or him interacting with William it does lead to some really chilling and some really suspenseful moments in the film because he is desperate to get out of the car even he goes as far hitting the car with a crowbar trying to break the door open. The chemistry between him and Anthony Hopkins is brilliant.
However, the absolute biggest standout of the entire film in Anthony Hopkins as Williams and his performance is incredible because it reminds me of Kiefer Sutherland's performance as the Caller in the Phone Booth. Now you could say that Anthony Hopkins is sort of reprising his role as Hannibal Lecter because he's not in the film that much. You mostly hear his voice but he still had a presence in the film and he still gives a really disturbing and haunting performance. Now the character of Williams is very similar to the Caller from Phone Booth because both of them enjoy torturing the main characters and they are both really crazy and really psychopathic. But you can tell that Williams enjoys torturing any as much as possible if he wants to make him lose his sandy much like the caller why to do to Stu shepherd in Phone Booth. The scenes with William are probably some of the most creepy and probably the most entertaining moments throughout the film whether it is him meeting Eddie Barrish for the first time or him telling him to run someone over and kill them. It does mean some really scary and some really nail biting moments throughout the film. The chemistry between him and Bill Skarsgard is terrific because you can tell that they had a lot of fun making this movie.
However the best thing about this film is the directing by David Yearovsky who is the same director who directed Brightburn which i thought he did a glorious job directing that film Have like a what if scenario like what is Superman came to Earth and he was evil instead and went on a killing spray. So what he does with this film is that he decides to make this like Locke combined with Phone Booth like what if the movie Locke with Tom Hardy was a stalker thriller film. I think he did a glorious job of developing Eddie Barrish as a character you feel bad for because again he wants to get out of the car and he doesn't want to obey William's orders. So overall I think he did a terrific job directing this film.
So in conclusion I still really enjoyed this film because the storyline was really interesting even though it was similar to the film Locke and Phone Booth It was still really interesting having this guy in this car been stocked by this guy who clearly wants him to kill his many people as he can in the interesting idea in the film executes it pretty well. The performances were terrific from both Bill Skarsgard and Anthony Hopkins, who is the big standout of the entire film. I still think William is up there with Galactus from Fantastic 4 First Steps as one of the best villains of 2025. Also The interactions between Eddie and William are tremendous because you can tell that Bill Skarsgard and Anthony Hopkins are having a lot of fun in the film. I still think this film is up there with Novocaine with Jack Quaid as one of my favorite films of 2025. I also think that this is up there with Last Breath with Woody Harrelson as one of the best films of 2025. I highly recommend you watch this film especially if you enjoy a really suspenseful film like The Monkey with Theo James. Then I'm sure you're going to really enjoy this film. I give this film a 10/10.
