Here is My Movie Review of Silk Road

Now to be honest I have never seen a single trailer. I have heard people say that it is one of the most confusing and one of the most messy films of 2021 And some people said that this is one of the worst films of the 2021. So I watched the film and it's not as bad as I thought it was. That being said though it's still a bad movie it's just really confusing and really boring. Now I will say I would rather watch this than stuff like Infinite or Chaos Walking because those films are unbearable to watch. 

Now to be honest the story should be really simple really interesting because it's based off of this true story about this guy named Ross Ulbricht Homemade this website called Silk Road which is a website that you can buy or sell drugs for free and he wants to make this website a success and make a lot of money. The way I just said this storyline you may think is the main story. But here's the thing the movie Doesn't really start around Ross Ulbricht  and this website Silk Road what does surround in the FBI agent named Richard Rick Bowden trying to bring Ross Ulbricht to Justice and that's basically what the story is for this film you see what I mean by the storyline is just a big mess and it doesn't know what to focus on. Now I like this idea of it being based off of this guy who made this website selling drugs for free and trying to not be caught by the FBI. But the problem is it just fails and executes.

Now I will say the performance is not terrible in this movie. It's actually really good. It's just the directing and the writing that is the big problem with this film. Which I will get to later.

Nick Robertson plays  Ross Ulbricht and his performance was decent because even parts where this film is not working Nick Robertson is fun to watch as this character. Now the character of Ross Ulbricht Is really accurate to how he was in real life field this guy who made Silk Road which was this website where you can buy and sell drugs for free but the problem is the movie again does it really center around him so as I as he is to how he was in real life the film doesn't really do much with him at the character. Now I will say there are some good moments with Ross Ulbricht  whether it's him making the website or him going to all these drinking parties. It does lead to some really fun and some really entertaining moments but the fact that he is not really the main character it just makes those things good but  not great. The chemistry between him and Jason Clark, Alexandra Shipp  is still great. 

Now I will say that the actor that steals the film is Jason Clark who plays Richard Rick Bowden In the film  and even parts where this movie is not working Jason Clark still gives a great performance as the character. Now the character of Richard Rick Bowden  Is really accurate to how he won the real life field that's FBI agent who's trying to track  down Ross Ulbricht and bring him to justice because of the illegal website he made known as Silk Road but the thing is sent the movies focus around Richard Rick Bowden  It makes you think that he had actually the main character because the guy we're focusing on that being Ross Ulbricht Is more of a side character than the main character.  Now The scenes with Richard Rick Bowden Are some of the better moments of the film and I'm going to say that's wherever the film focuses on Richard Rick Bowden the movie actually got a little bit better in fact i think he had the highlight of the entire movie because i found his scenes a lot more memorable whether it'll be the scene of him bonding with his daughter Edie Or him trying to track down Richard Rick Bowden  Do  lead to some really fun and entertaining moments but due to how mess the film is in terms of directing and writing the thing are great but they're not perfect and if the writing was better I think the movie would have been a lot better. The chemistry between him and Nick Robertson is okay. 

Alexandra Shipp plays Ross Ulbricht's Girlfriend Julia In the film and she still does a great job even parts where the film is not working Alexandra Shipp is really entertaining to watch. Now the character of Julia is accurate to how she was in real life. She was Ross Ulbricht's Love interest but that's it  the film doesn't really develop her that much at the character she's just there to be Ross Ulbricht's Love interest and that's it. Now scenes with Julia are okay. There are some fun moments with her and Roth Ulbrits bonding or trying to prevent the FBI from catching them does leave the thumb good moments but again the writing kind of fumbles that potential of those scenes being memorable. The chemistry between her and Nick Robertson is okay. I do that they do have fun chemistry in the film. 

Now let's talk about the biggest problem I have and that is the directing Tiller Russell because I understand what he was attempting to do with him telling this story about this guy who made this illegal website called Silk Road where again you could buy all the drugs you want and sell them for free but the biggest problem is that That's not the storyline because instead of that for some weird reason he decided to focus the film on Jason Clark's character and not Nick Robertson's character But it's kind of ruins The potential of this film becauseI think when he Is showing  Ross Ulbricht making money on this website the film is okay but it's not really interesting but the weird thing the way it goes to Jason Clark's character Richard Rick Bowden The film actually gets better in fact i wish that the film with all about him because that's quilly what the story is and about the FBI agent not the guy who's making this website where you can buy drugs for free so that's what I believe that caused this film to be really To be a mess and also his writing Is also really bad because he focuses on the romance side of Ross Ulbricht  Instead of the crazed drug dealer sign of the character and also it felt like they were trying to make this film like the movie Cherry because both of the movies focus around people who are addicted to drugs but I feel like Cherry just executed a lot better and the characters were a lot more interesting you know Tom Holland's character  Cherry Was more interesting than Nick Robertson's character. Also for some reason We focus on this police drama rather than the  Silk Road Website t itself So the movie  lies to its audience.When it goes like were going to talk about more about jith and Clark's character and not Nick Robertson's character The overall I think he did a really bad job of directing this film

So in conclusion I did not like this movie  because the whole storyline is just a mess because it focuses on Silk Road but then it focuses on Jason Clark's  character Richard Rick Bowden who wants to bring Nick Robertson's character Ross Ulbricht  so the film is not even consistent on what character to follow and that's really disappointing because I really like the idea of this guy who made this website where you can buy illegal drugs for free and you can sell them as well and he named Silk Road but due to the film being messy it's just a giant waste of potential in execution  Now the performances are not terrible, they're actually pretty good. Nick Robertson is decent and Jason Clark is the standout performance and I will admit Lexi Rabe  did a great job as Edie. You could tell that she is having fun in this film.  Also her and Jason Clark did have believable chemistry as a father-daughter duo throughout the film. Also to be honest I kind of wish Richard Rick Bowden and Edie Were the main characters along with the mother because I think they are more memorable than the main character Ross Ulbricht  because he's just not the best written character. Now I will say there were good moments in the film. I enjoyed everything I had to do with Jason Clark's character. Richard Rick Bowden was amazing. I think he had all the best moments in the film. Also I will say that Nick Robertson's Character Ross Ulbricht did have some interesting moments. But to be honest I was pretty bored with this film because this film clocks in at  1 hour and 52 minutes. I will give credit for being under 2 hours. But I think they should have cut the film down to an hour and 39 minutes. That way it would go by a lot faster. This is probably my pick for probably one of the most disappointing films of 2021 and that's really frustrating because I love the idea of this movie but due to the horrible writing and kind of watered it down to one of the worst films of 2021. This is probably up there with Black Widow and one of the most disappointing films of the 2020s. I say just skip this one and go watch Cherry with Tom Holland. It has a much better storyline and better performances because the screenplay in the directing was better than the writing and the directing in this film. I give this movie a 3/10.
