Here is My Movie Review of The Woman in The Yard
Now when this movie came out it has been getting mixed to negative reviews. Some people thought it was really good. Well some people think that this is the worst film of the entire year. So I watched this film and I have to say it is one of the most entertaining films of the entire year. It's probably one of the most underrated films of 2025.
So basically what happens then you have this woman named Ramona and she is dealing with the Lost of her husband David In a car accident and she has to look after her daughter Annie and her son Tyler and it's all going well until one day she sees this random woman in Black just sitting in front of their house outside their yard and Ramona suspects that there's something wrong with this woman and she want to figure out what is going on while on top of that she has to navigate her life on crutches because she is unable to walk because she was in that car accident with with her husband. It is up to Ramona to figure out why her and her family are being watched by this woman while trying to move past the loss of her husband and that's basically what the story is for this film. I have to say the storyline in this movie is really interesting how it revolved around trying to get over the loss of someone you care about and it executed that idea perfectly and I think this film is up there with the storyline In Love Hurts and one of the best storylines of 2025.
Now the acting in this movie is interesting because there's not many actors in the film but all of them do a spectacular job and their character then to be honest I think the acting in this film is up there with the acting and Thunderbolts and what the best acted films of 2025.
However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Danielle Deadwyler as Ramona because she gives one month Captivating and probably one the most nail biting performances of 2025 because she's playing a character that is dealing with a lot of stress in our life because she lost her husband In a car accident and Danielle Deadwyler does such a spectacular job of conveying so much emotion into this character. Now the character of Ramona is someone that you can really feel bad for and understand why she is so unhappy with her life because her husband Dave died in a car accident she is unable to walk because her leg is broken and she is really suspicious about the woman in in her family yarn and she wants to know why she is on their property and she thinks that there's something really weird going on with this woman well on top of that she is trying to be a single mother raising her kids because again her husband is no longer with her. She also becomes more unstable as the film goes on because of strange things happening. The scenes with Ramona are really incredible because whether it's Ramona trying to figure out why the woman is standing outside of her family's yard or it's her having flashbacks of her dead husband didn't lead to some really creepy and some really unnerving moments throughout the film. Now here is the most interesting thing Danielle Deadwyler plays The Woman when she is unmasked and she does a tremendous job as this character. Now The Woman is a really creepy and mysterious character because she the main villain and The Woman's motivations are really disturbing but really interesting because she wants to help Ramona to get over her lost and her trauma over her husband Dave which makes sense because she wants to help her get over the loss of someone she cared about and move on. I think The Woman is up there with The Void from Thunderbolts as one of the creepiest villains of 2025. The scenes with The Woman are really creepy whether it's her showing herself Ramona or it's her telling her to get over the loss of her husband do lead to some remarkable and some of the more haunting moments in the film. The chemistry between her and Okwui Okpokwasili, Peyton Jackson, Estella Kahiha is terrific.
Peyton Jackson plays Tylor in the film and his performance is excellent because he gives such a raw and fantastic performance as this character. Also you can tell Peyton Jackson is having a lot of fun in this film. Now the character of Taylor is really interesting because in my choice his mother Ramona he is also trying to cope with the loss of his father and he also wants to figure out why The Woman is in their yard. The scenes with Tyler are really fantastic whether it is the scene where Tayler is looking out the window to see what The Woman is going to do or the scene where he is in the garage and hears weird things happening around them that lead to some really excellent and chilling moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Danielle Deadwyler is excellent.
Okwui Okpokwasili plays The woman in the film and her performance is probably one of the most disturbing performances in the entire film because she plays the mask version of The Woman in this film and she does a marvelous job of giving a haunting performances in the film. Now the woman as a character as I already said is really disturbing and really creepy and her motivations are again as I already said she is trying to get Ramona to get over the loss of her husband and the film does a glorious job of making her really creepy and really disturbing at the character. The scenes with the woman are really disturbing but really interesting whether it is the theme of her introduction scene where she's just standing outside of Ramona's house or her attacking the family, it does lead to some really horrifying in some really incredible moments in the film. The chemistry between her and Danielle Deadwyler is perfect.
Estella Kahiha plays Annie In the film and her performance is really fun and really entertaining because she'd give a really brilliant child performance in the film. Now the character of Annie is really incredible and really fantastic because she is essentially the heart and soul of the entire film because she wants to figure out what is going on with her mother Ramona and with the woman in their yard. The scenes of Annie are really fun and really suspenseful whether it is the scene of Her and her family confronting the woman in the Attic or it's her bonding with her brother Taylor it does lead to some really effective and really terrific moments in the film. The chemistry between her and Danielle Deadwyler is exquisite.
However the best thing about this movie is the directing by Jaume Collet- Serra Is remarkable because He has directed other really good films like The Showers, Black Adam, and Jungle Cruise and Orphan So he has shown that he can direct really good film and this one is no exception because his directing is tremendous because what I like about his directing they can know the good job Attack when the subject a grief because Ramona is a character that is full of pain and tragedy when the film starts you see her looking at a video of her late husband Dave and on top of that she broke her leg so that's why she uses crutches and you can Tell that she is harsh with her kids but it's understandable she's giving them that tough love and because she is going through a lot of pain and Sadness in our life So you can understand why she is so strict in the film. So I think he did a glorious job of discussing the subject of Grief and Leaving the past behind because there will be moments where you lose someone and then you have to move on you can't think about forever. So overall I think you did a tremendous job directing this film.
So in conclusion I still really enjoy this film because the storyline about Ramona trying to get over the loss of her husband as well as trying to figure out why the woman is just watching them from their house and it is a really awesome and unique concept for film and that executes it perfectly Also to be honest I don't think this movie is nearly as bad as a lot of people say is because There are far worth movies of 2025 like hurry up tomorrow with Jenna Ortega and The old guard 2 Charlize Therone Those two movies are a lot more on watchful than this one. Also the performances in the film were magnificent. The two stand out performances are from Danielle Deadwyler and Estella Kahiha because those two gave perfect and captivating performances. Also The Woman is up there with The Void from Thunderbolts* as one of the creepiest villains of 2025. I think the film is up there with the electrical state Ke Huy Quan as one of the most underrated films of the entire year. I highly recommend you watch this film especially if you enjoy 28 Years Later with Aaron Taylor Johnson. Then I'm sure you're going to like this one as well. I give this movie a 10/10.
