Here is My Movie Review of Peter Pan And Wendy

Here is My Movie Review of Peter Pan And Wendy

So basically what happens is that you have Wendy Darling And says playing with her brothers until they accidentally break a mirror though her dad wanted to go to boarding school  but Wendy does not want to go. Then they meet Peter Pan who takes them to Never land and shows them how fun it is to never grow up. Then you have Captain Hook who wants to Revenge on  Peter Pan for chopping off his hand Infinity to a Crocodile. So it's up to Peter Pan and his friends too take down Captain Hook and get Wendy home and that's basically what the story is for this film. I have to say the storyline is just a lazy rehash of the original 1953 film because the exact same thing happens but the way this film executes its story is just really boring and not that interesting.

The acting in the film is bad I will say though if not as bad as the acting in Aladdin 2019 because the performances in that movie were really bad because all actors were Gave really bad in that film aside from Naomi Scott she was the only actor in the film that did give a good performance. Now surprisingly there is a great performance in this film.

Alexander Monlony plays Peter Pan in this film. I have to say his performance is really bad because it feels like he's just doing a really bland imitation of the original film. Now the character of Peter Pan is really bad because they tried to make him more developed with his backstory with Captain Hook and it just does not work it comes off very flat And really weird because in the original film peter Pan never really need a backstory it acknowledge that he was a guy that never growed up because he lives in Never land and now is that that's all you need to know. But in this film they Want you to be bad for Peter Pan but you really don't. The scene where Peter Pan talks to Captain Hook and tried to get him forgive him is really dumb and really weird and uninteresting it is probably one of the most filler heavy moments of the entire film The chemistry between him and Ever Anderson, Jude Law, Jim Gaffigan, Jacob Jupe,  Joshua Pickering Is decent.

However the worst performance in the entire film is Evan Anderson as Wendy Darling because she just either goes way too over the top or she's just sleepwalking the route the entire film. But the character of Wendy Darling is so unlikable because in the original film she really cared about the Lost Boys and her brothers but in this film she did not comes off very cynical and very snotty because She just treats everyone like garbage essentially she just shuts everyone out because the film tried to make her a strong female character but it doesn't work because the film just makes her so selfish and unlikable. The scene where Wendy Darling Is Captain Hook kill Peter Pan and she starts screaming and she says no it is one of the dumbest moments because it's trying to be really intense but It just came off as a rip off to the scene in Rise of the Guardians where Pitch Black killed the Sandman and Jack Frost screamed no and tackled Pitch Black and that was a really intense and very disturbing scene because Jack Frost had to watch one the Guardians die in front of him and now it's handled a lot better in that film then the dramatic moment was in this film.  The chemistry between her and Alexander Monlony  Is decent.

Jacob Jupe Plays Michael Darling in the film. I have to say his performance Is just really flat and really boring because the way he plays  the character just comes off as a lady rehash of the actor in the original Peter Pan movie. Now the character of Michael Darling Is just the same character from the original film, nothing new, nothing different and he's just not that interesting and he was in the Animated film. The scene where Michael Darling  meets Peter Pan for the first time is just like the original film but it's just not the interesting as the way the 1953 film executed the moment because in the original film Michael Darling  was really happy and excited to go to Neverland but in this film it just feels like He's doing the same thing other than the original film it just doesn't come off really interesting it just comes off with really bland. The chemistry between him and Alexander Monlony  Is decent.

Joshua Pickering Plays John Darling in the film. I have to say he doesn't do a great job as the character  he is just gives  a really dull and really flat performance as the character. Now The character of John Darling Is not that interesting because despite acting like how he is in the original film he's just really boring and uninteresting and the things with him that are supposed to be terrific but they just come off really Bland and not entertaining at all. The scene John Darling And his brother Michael are getting captured by Captain Hooks Crow he doesn't seem really scared at all because in the original film he was really scared but in this they make him nervous but they don't make him te look like he is afraid at all because it's just a lazy rehash of the scene from the original. The chemistry between him and Alexander Monlony Is okay.

Jim Gaffigan plays Mr Smee and his performance is not bad. It's not really good either because he gives one of the weirdest performances  of the entire film. Now Smee as a character is relatively the same as he was in the original film but here he's just not as funny as he is in the original film because in the original film Mr. Smee Was really funny and entertaining but in this film he's just kind of boring. The thing where he talks to Captain Hook is not that interesting because in the original film it was really funny and really entertaining because they're interactions were really great. In the original film here they're interactions that come off really boring and not interesting at all. The chemistry between him and Alexander Monlony Is decent.

Now well the acting is not really good the probably the best actor in this entire movie I can't believe I'm going to say this Jude Law is actually the best thing of this entire movie because he plays Captain Hook and he gives the best performance out of everyone in this entire film because you can tell that Jude Law was actually having fun in this movie and there are moments where Jude Law does come off really scary in this film as Captain Hook. Now the character of Captain Hook is interesting because I will say he is more accurate to his  counterpart than Jafar is from Aladdin 2019 because that film got Everything wrong about that character. Well Captain Hook in this film is accurate for the most part. He still hates Peter Pan with a brain passion. He wants revenge on him for chopping off his hand and feeding  it to a crocodile just like in the animated film. But there is one problem with Captain Hook in this film and that is the backstory between him and Peter Pan it is so unbelievably stupid because the film tried to make Captain Hook sympathetic and it does not work because Captain Hook is supposed to be just pure evil when no redeeming qualities but they just humanize him a little too much. Now I will say the scene where Captain Hook is being really scary is really entertaining because there are moments where he was actually really fun to watch. In fact my favorite moment with Captain Hook in this film is where He tells Wendy about his backstory how his mother never really cared about him and well it's not a great backstory and the stuff with between him and Peter Pan is really weird I think the scene on its own was actually really dark and really suspenseful. In fact I will go as far to say that all of Captain Hook's scenes are a lot more tolerable to sit through than all of Jafar's scenes in Aladdin 2019. Now the Rivalry between him and Peter Pan was really good. But I think the animated film handled their rivalry a lot better because they don't bill it up; they actually just tell you that Peter Pan and Captain Hook hate each other and they hate each other for a long time. Fun fact actors like Will Smith, Joaquin Phoenix and Adam Driver were all considered to play Captain Hook. The chemistry between him and Alexander Monlony Is surprisingly really fantastic. They had a really fun and amazing chemistry with each other.

Now the directing by David Lowry is interesting because he is a really awesome director. He directed the film a ghost story from 2017 he directed Pete's Dragon from 2016 and he's also directed The Green Knight from 2021 and he did a terrific job directing all those films. But I have to say for this film i thought I didn't okay job directing this film because there is stuff he gets right like Captain Hook full of mouth part there is one thing that I didn't like what you did with the character and that was making Captain hunk sympathetic ill the Widow weird and our place but in turn them like the villain Captain Hook he actually got that down really well. The problem is I don't think he developed the rest of the characters because for so many things he makes Wendy  unlikable and just makes pure pan really dull and uninteresting. I will say though that when it comes to the moments with Captain Hook i thought he directed those scenes really well. So overall I thought he did an all right job directing this film.

So in conclusion I didn't really like this film. I thought the story was just a lazy rehash of the original Peter Pan movie from 1953. The performance is just weren't that good there was just really bad and really over the top and silly. Now surprisingly the thing I really liked was actually Jude Law as Captain Hook. I think he does a fantastic job with his performance. Also out of all the characters he is the best one in the film now. Yes his backstory does not make any sense but if you look at him as a villain they did  get him right for the most part from the original film. I will say that he is better than Jafar from Aladdin 2019 because they got that character all wrong. Also I will say that the cinematography in this film was not that bad it was actually really good. The landscapes looked really beautiful and really interesting. Now I will say the cinematography in the original appearance is way better because it is a lot more colorful and better to look at. But this is still a really bad movie despite jude Law being the best part of the film. It does save it for the most part.  This is still a really uninteresting Disney live-action remake. I have to say this film is probably up there with Knights of the Zodiac as one of the worst films of 2023. I have to say this film is up there with Infinite with Mark Wahlberg as one of the worst films of the 2020s. I say just watch it for Jude Law and that's it. I think Jude Law's performance will put a smile on your face. But other than that just skip the film, go watch the original Peter Pan movie or go watch Hook or go watch the 2003 film. because those films are a lot more entertaining. Than this film. I give this movie a 3/10.
