Here is My Movie Review of Mangrove
So basically what happens is that it tells the real life story of Franklin Crichlow who opened this restaurant in The 1960s called The Mangrove Then he meets this girl named Althea Jones- LeCointe Who wants to help him make his restaurant better but unfortunately you have this really racist police officer named PC Dixon Who hates people who are African American and orders the restaurant to be shut down in him to leave so it is up to Franklin Crichlow and Althea Jones- LeCointe and the rest of the town too fight back against PC Dixon so he can keep his restaurant and that's basically what the story is for this film.
The acting in this film is astounding. I think everyone did a tremendous job as their characters. I think this movie up there with Mink as one of the best active films of the 2020s because both movies deal with really powerful and true events and both Gary Oldman and Shaun Parks Give really powerful and awesome performances at the characters in both films.
However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Shaun Parks as Franklin Crichlow. Now the character of Franklin Crichlow It's really interesting because he really wants to keep his restaurant open called The Mangrove Andy wants to fight back against the racist police officer PC Dixon and the rest of the police in order to save his restaurant and prevent it from being closed down. Probably the best moment with Franklin Crichlow Is where he Is opening his restaurant and not only that really powerful but you can just see the passion that he had of making this restaurant back in the 1960s and it's probably the most important moment of the entire film because he opened the restaurant in real life I think it's one of the strongest moments of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Letitia Wright, Malachi Kirby, Joseph Quinn Is perfect.
Letitia Wright plays Althea Jones- Le Cointe In the film. I have to say she does a spectacular job as this character. Now the character of Althea Jones-LeCointe Is really incredible because she really wants to help Franklin Crichlow Keep the restaurant open and fight against PC Dixon and the rest of the police force so they can keep his restaurant open. Probably the best moment with Althea Jones-LeCointe Is where she mentions to Franklin Crichlow That she was judged by people because of her race when she was adopted and not only that really dark and heavy but it makes sense because in the six 1960s people who are African American were judged by the color their skin and is really messed up but it's probably the most important moment of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Shaun Parks Is excellent.
Joseph Quinn plays PC Dixon In the film. Now it is hard for actors to play racist and bigoted characters because they realize they're not really racist they're just acting but somehow Joseph Quinn Man just to pull it off extremely well because he basically had the character down because in real life PC Dixon Was a really racist and corrupt police officer. Now the character of PC Dixon might be the most cold-hearted and one of the most disgusting characters in this film because he is racist and malicious because he hates people who are African American and you can tell right from the story you're going nearly hate this character and he does a great job of making you hate him his motivation is actually very dark and realistic because he wants to shut down the mangrove because he doesn't believe people who are African American don't have the right to open up a restaurant and I think the film handles his character extremely well. Probably the best moment with PC Dixon is were he and the rest of the place and puts the restaurant and start destroying things and not only is it really dark to see but it makes sense because In real life PC Dixon is very corrupt and bigoted cop it is probably the most intense and nail biting scene of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Shaun Parks Is wonderful.
Malachi Kirby plays Darcus Howe In the film. I have to say he does a marvelous job as this character. Now the character of Darcus Howe Is really incredible because he wants to help Franklin Crichlow fight back against PC Dixon and the rest of the police to keep his restaurant open. Probably the best moment Darcus Howe is where he mentions in the protest that people of color have been attacked by police and not only that really heavy and really Powerful but it makes sense because in the real life back in the 1950s people who were African-American were physically and emotionally abused by the police and it is probably the most Incredible and one of the strongest moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Shaun Parks is excellent.
But the best thing about this film The directing Steve McQueen Because why I like about his directing that he does a fantastic job of telling the real life story of Franklin Crichlow Because in real life he opened up a restaurant with a constantly being ambushed by PC Dixon And the rest of the police because of his skin color and it was a very heavy and tragic moment of his life. I think Really tremendous of how he did that I also like how he discusses the police brutality of how corrupt police officers can be of people of different color because what's really sad and disturbing that some point is often actually did they attack them because of their race because that they are minority they just shoot them dead without thinking because they believe that they're doing the right thing but they're actually doing very harmful and disturbing Things and I'm happy that he kept that subject very seriously and not make any jokes about because you can't make jokes about any of the stuff you have to keep it really serious so I think it is wonderful of how they did that.
So in concluding this with a brilliant Start five-part Small Acx Series I love the storyline of this film about the true story of Franklin Crichlow. I also like how this movie is very political. Shaun Parks gives a really powerful and strong performance as the character of Franklin Crichlow. I still think this is up there with Mank as one of my favorite films of 2020. I still think that If you enjoy the film Django Unchained with Leonardo DiCaprio Then I'm sure you're going to like this film. I give this movie a 10/10.
