Here is My Movie Review of Prisoners Of The Ghostland

Here is My Movie Review of Prisoners Of The Ghostland

So basically what happens is that you have this guy named Hero who is a former bank robber Who has been captured and taken to Japan where the Governor tells him to bring back his niece Bernice By going to the ghost land to find her. But In order for him not to lose his temper the governor plants all these bomb devices all around his body. But unfortunately he wants that she is not really his niece because in reality he actually sexually abused her so it's up to Hero and Bernice to go back to town to get revenge on The Governor and that is basically what the story is for the film.

The acting in this movie is fantastic. I think everyone does an awesome job as the characters.

However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Nicolas Cage as Hero. What makes Hero such a terrific character is that he really wants to get  Bernice back to her grandfather. But  at the same time he is trying to get over his  PTSD because when he was at this bank robbery  he was  trying to prevent his friend from killing a little kid. But  unfortunately he failed to prevent it from happening. Probably the best moment with Hero is when he is dreaming and you see him Trying to find this kid that his friend accidentally killed and not only is it really powerful but it makes sense because he is feeling guilty that he didn't prevent his friend from killing the little kid. It is probably the saddest moment in the entire film. The chemistry between him and Sofia Boutella, Bill Moseley is still amazing.

Sofia Boutella plays The Governor's niece Boutella In the film. I have to say she still does an awesome job as the character. What makes  Boutella such a tragic and emotional character is that you really feel bad for her because she the governor wasn't really her grandpa he was actually just sexually abusing her. Probably the best moment with Boutella is during the Final battle in the film  where she takes revenge on The Governor for sexually abusing her by shooting him in the head with a gun and not only was it really emotional but it made sense because she had enough of him sexually abusing her. It is probably the darkest but most strongest moment in the film. The chemistry between her and Nicolas Cage is still excellent.

Bill Moseley plays The Governor in the film. I have to say he still does a remarkable job as the character. What makes the governor such an interesting villain is that at first you think he wants Hero´s help to get Boutella back to him but in reality he just wants to sexually abuse her more. Not to mention he is a villain that you just  love to hate because you really want something bad to happen to him and luckily something does happen to him Boutella takes her revenge on him by shooting him in the head which kills him. Probably the best moment with The Governor is at the beginning of the film where you are first introduced to him. He seems really nice but in reality he is a psychopath and not only was it a great introduction scene. But it makes sense because the film at first makes you think that he is not that bad of a guy but as  the film goes on you learn about his true intentions. It is probably the most suspenseful moment of the entire film. The rivalry between him and Hero is astounding. The chemistry between him and Nicolas Cage is marvelous.

The directing by Sion Sono Is incredible because when I like about his director that he does a tremendous job of dealing with the stress of PTSD because in real life some people in war they watch their comments or best friends die in front of them and it causes them to have a lot of stress and anxiety and sometimes if they hear around noise it can cause them to revive to that moment when they lost someone they really cared about. I also like how he takes it really seriously when because you can't really make jokes about PTSD you have to treat it with respect. I think it is really incredible how he did that.

So in conclusion I still really enjoyed this film. I still think this is in my top 5 favorite Nicolas Cage films. I do wish more people watched the film because a lot of people didn't know that this film came out in 2021 right when the pandemic was still going on so it's kind of a shame that a lot of people missed this really powerful and really underrated film. This is still one of the most underrated Films of 2021 and I also like how Nicolas Cage's performance is mostly subtle with a bit of over the topness mixed into it. I think if you enjoy the movie Renfield from this year which also stars Nicolas Cage then I'm sure you'll like this one. I give this movie a 10/10.
