Here is My Movie Review of The Flash
So basically what happens is that you have Barry Allen / the Flash and he is still trying to cope with the death of his mother. But then He has this idea to travel back in time to prevent her from dying but by doing that he meets another variant of himself. Then you have General Zod trying to rebuild krypton. So In order to stop him they have to team up with Batman and Supergirl and take down General Zod and save the multiverse. That is basically what the story is for this movie. Honestly the storyline to this movie is really terrible In the way I can sum it up is that is an absolute rip off to Spider-Man No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and it also rips off Everything Everywhere All at Once because that film also has to deal with the multiverse. But the only difference is that all those movies were entertaining and engaging to watch because this film is really boring.
The acting in this movie is really really terrible Because most of the actors just feel like they're not happy while doing this movie aside from 2 performances most of the acting is Really weak and uninteresting to be honest I think this is up there with Napoleon and what the worst acted films of 2023.
Probably the worst performance in the entire film is Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / the Flash. To be honest I never really liked the interpretation of Barry Allen / The Flash because he is really annoying and he can't even take anything seriously because everything he says in this movie is really dumb and really cringe worthy to watch. Also the movie tries to make you feel bad for him when his mother died but To be honest I didn't feel bad for him because it wasn't that interesting when she died and to be honest I felt more bad for X-23 from Logan when she had to watch Wolverine get killed by X24 AK the Wolverine clone Because Laura breaks down crying in that film. but when they tried doing it in this movie I just didn't feel anything. Hey also plays the other variant of Barry Allen/ The Flash I don't think he did a great job And that character either because to be honest he's not even playing the flash he just playing himself throughout the whole movie and the film wants you to feel bad for them but to be honest I didn't feel bad for them because all they do from the majority of the film is all they do is arguing it's only at the end they start to get along it was just really stupid. The chemistry between him and Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon is okay. Also that is my other positive with the movie. I did think all the actors work really well together.
Now when it was announced that Michael Keaton was coming back to play Bruce Wayne/ Bat man. I was at least hope that he'll be the one redeeming quality of the film and I'm sorry to say he was not that good because there were moments of him giving a good performance. But it was just for the most part really cheesy and really silly that's really shocking to say because I liked him as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Tim Burton Batman films. Bruce Wayne / Batman because in those films Bruce Wayne was mostly serious with a hint of humor. But in this film. He is way too silly and there are a lot of lines he says that were not funny especially that really dumb line where he said you all get nuts let's get nuts and that line in Batman was dumb but I can look past that because that was in 1989. But in this film it just felt like really forced trying to be like fan service and Bruce Wayne/Batman did have humor in the timber and Batman films but the only difference is that his humor was more subtle. But in this film all his lines of dialogue are just really cheesy and over the top. The chemistry between him and Ezra Miller Is average.
Michael Shannon comes back as General Zod. I have to say I thought he'll get me really terrible in the film. But to my surprise he was. He didn't give a terrible performance like he did in Man of Steel. I have to say out of all the actors. He was one of two performances that didn't bored me. But that being said, General God as a villain just doesn't make sense in this movie. He is a Superman villain and this is a Flash movie so I think what they should have done is use The Reverse Flash or Gorilla Grodd because those villains will make way more sense because those villains have fought the Flash multiple times in the comics and The CW Flash TV series. But having General Zod in the film. It just didn't make any sense. It should've used an actual flash villain to be The villain. The chemistry between her and Ezra Miller is average.
However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Sasha Calle as Kara Zor El/Supergirl. I think out of all the characters In the film Kara Zor El/Supergirl is the best character in the film because you really feel bad for her because General Zod killed her cousin Clark Kent when he was a baby. So you understand why She has such burning hatred towards him because he was the one responsible for her cousin's death. Probably the best thing of the film is where she is fighting General Zod and getting revenge on him for killing her cousin. That's probably the only legit good scene of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Ezra Miller Is average.
The directing by Andy Muschietti Is terrible because he wants you to feel bad for Barry Allen / The Flash but I Just didn't F\feel bad for him because throughout the film he is so unlikable that I felt bad for Spider-Man from Spider-Man No Way Home where the Green Goblin killed Aunt May with his glider. But in this film I just simply didn't feel anything when his mom died. I also feel like he tried to make this movie like Doctor Strange and The multiverse of Madness with fan service. But the only difference Is that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness didn't overly do it. with it it did it in a very subtle way. But this movie forces fan service for no reason whatsoever other than it wastes your time with it.
So in conclusion I did not like this movie. I thought it was really boring. The acting for the most part was really bad. I still think Ezra Miller is still terrible as The Flash. I felt like Michael Keaton was sleepwalking for the whole movie and what is really disappointing is that Michael Keaton is a great actor. I did think Michael Shannon was a little bit better as General Zod than he was in Man of Steel. I still think the best performance in the movie was Sasha Calle as Kara Zor El/Supergirl because her performance was really awesome. This is the most overrated movie of 2023. I say just skip this movie and go watch Everything Everywhere All at Once with Ke Huy Quan. Or go watch Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with Benedict Cumberbatch because that movie actually his effort and it has awesome fan service with a really strong storyline and great acting you'll have a better time with those movies then you'll have with this one. I give this 3/10.
