Here is My Movie Review of Quest For Camelot
So basically what happens is that you have this girl named Kayley who wants to become a Knight of the round table to do that she must find The sword of Excalibur. But then you have this guy named Ruber who also wants The Sword of Excalibur to destroy Camelot. It is up to Kayley To take down Ruber to save Camelot and become a Knight. That is basically what the story is for this movie. To be honest the storyline of this film is not bad. It is just really dull and really generic.
The voice acting in this movie Is good but the characters are rather forgettable.
Jessalyn Gilsig voices Kayley. I have to say she does a decent job voicing the character. But the character of Kayley Is really boring because she doesn't really have much of a character. Her character is basically what she wants to become a knight and save Camelot. Also to be honest when she sees her mother being taken away by Ruber. I just simply didn't feel anything when that happened because I feel more bad for Simba from The Lion K-ing when he had to watch his father be killed by Scar. But with this movie they barely mentioned it at all because at least with the Lion King they mentioned it a couple of times. The chemistry between her and Cary Elwes, Pierce Brosnan, and Gary Oldman Is great.
Cary Elwes voices Garrett. I have to say he does an okay job voicing the character. But the character of Garrett Is really bland because he's just there to be the love interest to Kayley. Also the romance between the main characters is not really good because to me I just see them as friends and even at the end of the movie you don't buy them romance at all. The chemistry between him and Jessalyn Gilsig Is decent.
Pierce Brosnan voices King Arthur. I think he does an okay job as the character. But King Arthur as a calendar just doesn't have much to do in this movie. To be honest King Arthur is really only here to protect his kingdom. Also Pierce Brosnan Is really under utilized in this movie and what is really disappointing is that he is a really great actor. If you watch him in his James Bond movies he is really good in those. Also probably his best performance is where he played Dr Fate in Black Adam because he did an astonishing job with that character. The chemistry between him and Jessalyn Gilsig is much like with the rest of the actors I mentioned Is decent.
Probably the best performance is Gary Oldman as Ruber. I think of all the Performances in the film. I think his performance is probably the most entertaining in the film. I think put all the characters in the film Ruber Is probably the most entertaining character in the entire film because he at least has an on-screen present and for the most part he is really intimidating. But Ruber’s motivations are so one-dimensional and unmemorable because he basically wants to rule the kingdom. Probably the best scene with Ruber is when he is attacking the castle in the climax of the film it probably one the best scenes in the entire movie. The Rivalry between him and Kayley Is okay. The chemistry between him and Jessalyn Gilsig is much like the rest of the actors is really average. Fun fact actors like James Woods and Tommy Lee Jones were both considered to voice Ruber.
The directing by Frederik Du Chau Is not really good because I don't think he knows the original story of Quest for Camelot because the original story is very dark and really graphic. But for this film He basically took the story request for a camera and made it family-friendly. A story like this should not be family friendly. It should be really dark and epic. I think what they should do is to have Tim Burton make it really dark like the source material.
So in conclusion I didn't like this movie. I think the characters are really flat and unmemorable. The only good character in the film is Ruber. This film should be a lot more dark and blink like the Black Cauldron. But the movie is very watered down compared to its source material. The acting is Okay but most of the characters are really boring and unmemorable. I say just skip it and go watch The Black Cauldron. You'll have more entertained with that film than with this film. I give this movie a 2/10.
