Here is My Movie Review of The Florida Project
So basically what happens is that you have Moonee and her mother named Halley who are living outside of Disney World in Florida in a motel and they have to pay the rent and keep everything in check. That is basically what the story is for this movie.
The acting in this movie is really amazing I still think everyone does a marvelous job as the characters. I can tell that all the actors were having fun as their characters.
Brooklyn Prince plays Moonee In the film. I have to say she still does a terrific job as the character. What makes Moonee such an excellent character is that all she wants to do is to spend time with her mother in Florida. Probably the best moment with Moonee is where she She finds out that she is being taken away from her mom and she breaks down crying and not only was it really Intense but it made sense because she didn't want to be away from her mother it is probably the saddest moment of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Bria Vinaite and William Dafoe is exquisite.
Bria Vinaite plays Halley In the film. I have to say she still does a spectacular job as the character. What makes Halley such a Remarkable character Is that all she wants to do is to make her daughter happy and she doesn't want her daughter to be taken away and taken to a different family. Probably the best moment with Holly is where she finds out that her daughter Moonee is take away from her and she gets really mad at CP s not only was it really emotional but it made sense because he didn't want her daughter to be taken away from her It is probably one of the most powerful moments in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Brooklyn Prince and Willem Dafoe is really marvelous.
However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Willem Dafoe as Bobby. Now much like I said in my review of mute This is a very different performance from Willem Dafoe because usually we associate him Playing a lot of villains in movies. But in this film plays a really nice and down to earth character. What makes Bobby such a fantastic character is that all he wants to do is to Have everything go great at his motel; he doesn't want anything to go wrong. Probably the best moment with Bobby is where he's talking to Mooney about How adults have to figure stuff out by talking to other adults and not only with it really emotional but it means since because he wants her to be safe it is probably the most powerful moment in the entire film. Also the bonding he has with Moonee is really great. The chemistry between him and Brooklyn Prince and Bria Vinaite is really great. This is probably my third favorite Willem Dafoe. My other two Willem Dafoe performances are Thomas Wake from the A24 film The Lighthouse. My all-time favorite Willem Dafoe performance is the Green Goblin from the Spider-Man movies.
The directing by Sean Baker Is really terrific because of what I like about his directing in that he does a spectacular job of discussing the subject of living in poverty and What is really sad that there are people in real life who can't afford a house and they have to live in a motel and pay money to be able to stay there and I like how he treats the subject very seriously because It's not something that you're not supposed to joke about because it is a very harsh and real world problem.
So in conclusion I really enjoyed this movie because it does a tremendous job of discussing the subject of living in poverty and being able to take it very seriously. Also Bobby is probably my favorite character in this entire film he's just really nice and down to earth with Mooney to the point that you can understand why he really cares about her. Also Willem Dafoe nails it as the character of Bobby and you can tell he was having fun in the role. This is probably up there with a Man Called Otto as one of the saddest movies ever made. This is probably up there with the farewell and one of my favorite A24 movies. I have to say if you enjoy the movie a man called Otto with Tom Hanks then you will definitely enjoy this film. I give this movie a 10/10.
