Here is My Movie Review of X-Men First Class

Here is My Movie Review of X-Men First Class

Now the storyline in this movie is it interesting idea having it revolve around Magneto wine Revenge on Sebastian Shaw For killing his mother and coming up with the X-Men to stop Sebastian Shaw from Starry World War III but then turning on the X-Men and becoming the villain so he can make me a tense the dominant race is a good idea in concept and for the most part of this film executes the storyline Okay but the problem is this filming really poor writing.

Now this leads into the performance is how were they well they're very hit or missed Because some of the performances are really good but some of them are really bad due to the actors being miscast. Now I will say this movie is not on the level of Kraven the hunter because that film has horrible Acting So much because they are not even trying. Well the actors in this film are somewhat trying and giving good performances.

Now a lot of people say that James McAvoy is tremendous as Charles Xavier / Professor X. But in my opinion I feel like he is Miss cast because he the little too young for Charles Xavier you need like a Jude Law or like Ralph Fiennes I think those two actors would been a lot better and would have made a lot more sense to cast Professor X. Now I will say the James McAvoy is not bad but I feel like he is just really Bland at this character now wait with Magneto AKA Michael Fassbender I think his performance Is really awesome but with the other characters it just feels like James McAvoy is just playing himself throughout the whole movie. Now Charlie Xavier / Professor X at a character is kind of inconsistent because Wade with Magneto he is very serious but they do this weird thing where they have him party a lot and crack jokes which is just so out of character for Charles Xavier because he's not a character that cracks jokes he is very serious. That's why I think Patrick Stewart played a much better professor X because that one was a lot more serious. Now the scenes with Charles Xavier are entertaining in particularly the scenes of him and Magneto interacting Because I think those moments are the highway of the movie especially the part where Charles Xavier begs Magneto not to turn against him it does lead to a really powerful and heartbreaking moment because Charles Xavier knows that his old childhood friend will eventually turn against him and turn bad and I thought the film executed their friendship falling apart really well because I have problems with the writing i don't have a problem with Magnetos writing in the film. The chemistry between him and Michael Fassbender, January Jones, Kevin Bacon, Caleb Landry Jones Is decent.

However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Michael Fassbender who plays Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto in the film and his performance is perfect because he gives one of the most emotional and captivating performances of the entire film and even parts where this movie is not working Fassbender still give it his all as the character. Now the character of Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto It's incredible because this is the character that has been broken By Nazi Germany because Sebastian Shaw had one of his henchmen kill Eric's mother because Eric couldn't use his power he hesitated and with that Sebastian Shaw broke Magneto and he wants revenge on Savannah's drawing for taking his mother away from him and he was mutants to be the dominant race so even though he is technically having good intentions he's going about them Completely the wrong way. Also his villain turn in The Incredible Because humans have pushed Magneto over the end to the point that he's started to despise them. Now the themes with Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto Are incredible because They are probably my favorite moments throughout the film in particularly in the third act where magnetos to Charles Xavier I've been following men's or for so long never again and the thing that I love about that scene is that it's Magnetos villain turn him essentially destroying him and Charles's friendship and the scene where he sees Charles Xavier against Shot in the back a breaks down crying that's another moment I really like because Magneto is blaming himself for not pushing Charles out of the way. It's probably one of the saddest moments of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Charles Xavier is actually the Highlight of the entire film because as much problems that I have with this film and they are a lot of problems the bonding between Charles and Eric was never the problem with this film Because both Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy have tremendous chemistry now I will say though I think Ian McKellen played a far far better Magneto because the writing for him was a lot better. But Michael Fassbender did a pretty great job of playing a young Magneto.

Now  January Jones Play the Emma Frost in the film and she is Miss cast because she does not resemble the character from the comics at all because it feels like January Jones it just playing herself rather than the character and I feel like this should have gone somebody else like Cate Blanchett or Charlize Therone i think both of those actresses would have been a lot better because they would have made a lot more sense to cast as the character and I think one of them could have given a tremendous performance as Emma Frost. Now the character of Emma Frost is just boring he doesn't really do much in the film she is just there to follow Sebastian Shaw around. In the comics Emma Frost is a much more complex and interesting character because She is a member of the Hellfire Club and she goes by the white queen she's supposed to have the ability to go inside of Charles's mind because she has telepathic ability and in this film She does have the abilities but they don't call her the white Queen nigga color Emma Frost and she's just really Bland so overall I think the film does not do a good job of utilizing Emma Frost as a villain. I can't remember any moments with Emma Frost on screen at least with Sebastian Shaw there's stuff I remember about him but with Emma Frost I can't remember moments with her in the film. The chemistry between her and James McAvoy is decent.

Caleb Landry Jones. plays Cassidy / Banshee In the film and he does a good job as the character but i feel like he's miscast because the Irish accent he puts on it sounds really weird at times it sounds real but other times throughout the film it sounds really fake and I feel like they should cast someone like Colin Farrell who is Irish and I think that would have been a lot better and I did call him Pharaoh could have done a much better job at the character. Now the character of Cassidy / Banshee is decent he does care about Charles and Xavier and wants to help him take down Sebastian saw and preventing World War III. But I feel like Banshee and a character has so much potential in the film doesn't really do anything with him. So he's just a okay character rather than incredible character like Magneto is in this film. the scenes with Banshee are pretty good like the fiends of him using his powers the scenes of him in the rest of the X-Men taking down the Hellfire Club it does lead to some really fun moments but those moments could have been a lot better if this movie had a much better script. the chemistry between him and Jim McAvoy is decent.

Now it's talk about Kevin Bacon who played our main villain Sebastian Shaw in the film and performance is decent he's really entertaining as this character. But the problem is that he is miscast because I feel like Live Schreiber or Brian Cranston they would have been better choices to play Sebastian Sean. Now I will say though Is this performance as bad as Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse in X-Men apocalypse no that performance is virtually unwatchable but also laughably stupid because you can't really take Oscar as that character. But with Kevin Bacon you do take him seriously as this villain. But I think again they should have went with somebody else like Live Schreiber as I already stated or Hugh Jackman, Brian Cranston or Jude Law those actors would make a lot more sense to cast as this character. now the character of Sebastian Shaw is really weird because in the comics he is a guy from Massachusetts he is a rich man he had the leader of the Hellfire Club. But for some reason in this movie they depict him as a World War II not the prison guard which was a really dumb choice I mean he is part of the Hellfire Club like in the comics but they didn't really execute that really well. Now I will say though unlike apocalypse from X-Men apocalypse Sebastian Shaw is a really fun villain because of his connection to Magneto and the film The Glorious job and make you hate him and i will say though he is better written than black mask from where the prayer because that character is awful and he was not accurate to the comics at all well at least with the bathroom saw he is entertaining. But I feel like he could have been a much better than if they cast somebody else. The scenes with the Baptist Shaw are interesting for example the scene where he had one in his henchmen kill Eric's mother that wouldn't really dark and really scary moment and the way he goes out that scene of him being killed by Magneto is probably my favorite scene of the entire film because it's really brutal because Magneto sends the coin through Sebastian Shaw's head and that's how he dies. which is probably the most brutal X-Men movie villain death of all time. but he could have been a much better villain if again he was played by somebody else.  Fun fact actors like Bryan Cranston, Colin Firth, Daniel Craig, Jeremy Irons, Eric Bana, Liam Neeson, John Malkovich, Daniel Day- Lewis, Hugh Jackman, Ray Winston, Vin Diesel, Liev Schreiber Hugh Grant, Michael Fassbender, Edward Norton, Mark Strong, Clive Owen, Mads Mikkelsen were all considered to play Sebastian Shaw. The chemistry between him and James McAvoy is decent.

The directing by Matthew Vaughn is really strange because this stuff I do think he does a great job of dealing like the origin Magneto is really good the way he developed the character of Magneto from hero to villain was really awesome because I think out of all the characters I think Magneto was the one character in Matthew Vaughn did a great job of developing. But most of the choices he makes for the film are just really dumb like having Sebastian Shaw via Nazi was not that interesting. Also making Charles Xavier silly was really dumb and really weird. he doesn't really develop Emma Frost as a character because he just made her into a attractive character rather than a complex character and I feel like he should casted someone like Charlize Therone instead january Jones because I think Charlize Therone would have given a much better and more interesting performance at the character. i will admit he does a great job with the cinematography in the beginning with the flashbacks in World War II and in the present day with the X-Men it does look really terrific but I feel like he did a really poor job directing this film. I think Peyton Reed should have directed this film because I feel like he was going most of the characters right just like he does with his Ant-Man films.

So in conclusion i am very mixed on this film there's some some stuff I like the idea on the storyline is really interesting having it be focused on Magneto's rise and fall into becoming a villain Hamlet game Revenge on Sebastian Shaw for killing his mother and him and Charles is friendship falling apart is it a great idea. But it could have been a lot better in execution I think that's down to the really poor writing for the film the script in this movie's biggest problem because they reroute the whole film this movie would have been a lot better. But both of the performances were way too inconsistent because aside from Michael Fassbender and occasionally James McAvoy most of the performances weren't that good especially from January Jones who played Emma Frost she would just miscast she was really boring as this character. Now Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw he did a great job with his performance and you can tell that he was probably the most entertaining part of this film. But again he was miss cast I think Hugh Jackman or Brian Cranston or Liev Schreiber would have been much better choices for this character. Now I will say that the movie that the glorious job will make you despise Sebastian Shaw you want this asshole to die and when he does die it is really brutal. But it's really satisfying when he dies. But aside from that this movie had way too many problems now is it as bad as X-Men Dark Phoenix? No that film of the was more boring and a lot more dumber. But this movie could have been a lot better. So that's why I say skip this film. But watch it for Magneto but go watch the first X-Men movie because it is a lot more consistent with its tone and characters and performances. I give this movie a 6/10.
