Here is My Movie Review of The Shape of Water

Here is my movie review of the Shape of Water

So basically what happens is that you have this woman named Elisa Esposito Who is mute and she works as a janitor. Then one day she finds this sea creature and at first she is startled by it. But then later on she starts to bond with it. Then you have this guy named Colonel Richard Strickland who wants to capture the creature and kill it for money to provide for a family. So it is up to Elisa Esposito to take down Colonel Richard Strickland and free the creature. That is basically what the story is for this movie.

The acting in this movie is still I made them because I stood that everyone nailed it in all of their performances and I can tell everyone was having fun as that characters.

Sally Hawkins plays Elisa Espsito In the film. I have to say she still does a spectacular job as the character. What makes Elisa Espsito Such a terrific character is that she really wants to set the creature free and live with it. Probably the best scene with Elisa Espsito is where she first meets the creature and she starts to build a connection to it and not only was it really emotional but it made sense because She and the creature start to form a bond it is probably the most powerful moment in the film. The chemistry between her and Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon, and Richard Jenkins is still really great.

Octavia Spencer plays Zelda Fuller In the film. I have to say she still does a marvelous job as the character. What makes Zelda Fuller That should really want to help Elisa Espsito Set the creature free from the facility. Probably the best moment with Zelda Fuller Is where she and Elisa Espsito are stealing the creature from the facility and not only with it really intense but it made sense because they really want to rescue it from captivity. It is probably the strongest moment in the film. The chemistry between her and Sally Hawkins is still fantastic.

Richard Jenkins plays Giles In the film. I have to say he still does an outstanding job as the character. What makes Giles such an excellent character is that he really wants to help Elisa Espsito Set the creature free From the facility. Probably the best moment with Giles is where he tells Elisa Espsito to go find the creature and not only was it really intense but it made sense because she was worried about him because he was hurt but he told her That he is fine. It is probably one of the darkest moments in the entire film. Fun fact actor Ian McKellen was considered to play Giles. The chemistry between him and Sally Hawkins is still great.

However the absolute big stand out of the entire film is Michael Shannon as Colonel Richard Strickland. What makes Colonel Richard Strickland such a tremendous villain is that he doesn't have a big evil scheme to destroy the earth or cause war he's just a guy who wants to spend with his family so it is very similar to Vulture's motivation in Spider-Man homecoming because both villains just wanted to provide for their families. I still think Colonel Richard Strickland is up there with The Vulture from Spider-Man Homecoming as one of the most sympathetic villains of 2017. Probably the best moment with Colonel Richard Strickland is where he is in his car in the rain Thinking about what his going to do to kill the creature and not only is it a very suspenseful scene but the fact that there is no dialogue and he does hear the sound of the rain just makes the scene very magnificent and one of the most beautiful moments in the film. The rivalry between him and Elisa Espsito Is remarkable. The chemistry between him and Sally Hawkins is astounding.

The directing by Guillermo Del Toro is tremendous because what I like about his directing is that he was able to make this fantastic and beautiful art of a film. i also like how he made the villain Colonel Richard Strickland such a relatable and sympathetic villain because he could have made him into a generic narcissistic villain but luckily he didn't do that he made him into a very relatable and understandable villain who just wants to spend time with his family. i also like how concluded really great social commentary of animal cruelty because in real life there are people who abuse animals and take them away from their habitats and it's really messed up and I'm happy that he took the situation very seriously because you can't really joke about that stuff. i still think it is really marvelous of how I did that.

So in conclusion this is one of the most beautiful pieces of art of a film in 2017. I still really enjoyed the storyline revolving around Elisa Espsito wanting to free the creature from captivity. Also Colonel Richard Strickland is probably up there with The Vulture from Spider-Man Homecoming as one of the best villains of 2017. I also like how the film handled the social commentary of animal captivity very well and treats it really seriously. This is probably up there with 1922 as one of my favorite movies of 2017. I have to say if you enjoy the movie Finch with Tom Hanks then I'm sure you're going to like this one. I give this movie a 10/10.
