Here is my Tv Show review of Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Now when it comes to the show when I first watched it I thought it was pretty good I thought the story was really interesting. But the more I thought about it the show actually get worse because not only was it not interesting but it was really boring and it did stuff that was either really dumb or just poorly handled. It also ruined a couple of MCU characters. Now I will say I do have positives with the show there is stuff I like but overall I think the show gets worse and worse the more you think about it.
The acting in this show if so inconsistent because some of the performances are really great but some of them are just flat out awful or just completely Bland and boring and I think the show is up there with Hawkeye and turn them the most inconsistent MCU show of all time.
Now let's talk about Anthony Mackie who plays Sam Wilson / Captain America to be completely honest I think his performance is tremendous because even parts where the show is not working Mackie is giving his all you can tell he's having a lot of fun and this character and there are moments where he brings some emotional moments to his character but the MCU really didn't Developed Sam Wilson at the character. Now Sam Wilson as a character i never really hated him in the MCU but his turn into becoming Captain America it was really rushed in this show they didn't really develop much of it. be to be completely honest I'm much preferred Sam Wilson as a side character rather than a main character because I feel like that's what he should be because even though as little effort that the MCU has given Sam Wilson as a character he is still a entertaining character But he's just not a perfect character to become Captain America because in the words of Harrison Ford aka Pregnant Ross from Captain America Brave New World you're not Steve Rogers. Now there are some awesome moments with Sam Wilson / Captain America like where he's fighting the flag Smashers or him training to become Captain America or him and Bucky having this argument of whether he should be common Captain America or should he not become Captain America. Now those moments are probably some of the best moments in the show.
However the absolute big standout of the entire show Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes /The Winter Soldier and look even parts where the show is not working Sebastian Stan still give that his all he still give the character of Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier a lot of heart and emotion and you can tell that Sebastian Stan still enjoys playing this character you could tell he's having a lot of fun in MCU. Now Bucky Barnes as a character was actually still consistent like he is in the MCU because this is a character that has gone through a lot he had died in World War II he has been brainwashed by Hydra he became the Winter Soldier and then his childhood friend Steve Rogers / Captain America had to him and getting back to his old self and he had to help the Avengers take down Thanos. now in this show I think he he doesn't really trust Sam Wilson to become Captain America because he wanted to become come to America because he wanted to carry the legacy of his childhood friend and I think the show handled that really well Although they do give him some dumb MCU jokes which I didn't find those funny some of his jokes were funny But Bucky Barnes isn't really a a character who cracks jokes he's about to be a very tragic and really serious character. now the fiends with Bucky Barnes / the winter Soldier are really interesting whether it is him and Sam Wilson fighting the flag Smashers or or Bucky telling Sam about Wes Like to carry on a legacy of a previous hero I think those moments work Because when those moments did happen that is when I had a lot more fun with this show and I think the dynamic between him and Sam Wilson in the strongest part of this show.
Daniel Bruhi reprise his role as Helmet Zemo in the show and I'm going to say his performance is kind of inconsistent some of it is really good but other times Daniel Bruhi will act so weird as this character and that's mainly down to the bad writing in the show. Now the character of Helmet Zemo is so inconsistent because there is stuff that I like about this character I like his motivation how he wants to help Sam and Bucky to prevent more super soldiers from being made because he's a superhero supremacist he hates superheroes he blames the Avengers for the death of his family I love how in the show they bring that up. Also I will say there are some funny jokes with Zemo. The one joke that did make me laugh is where he needs Bucky Barnes /The winter Soldier again and he says hello James and what may it funny is that he's actually mocking the Winter Soldier so it does come off as a dumb MCU joke it just comes off at Zemo like threatening and manipulating Bucky Barnes/The Winter Solder. But then you'll get a really stupid scene like Helmet Zemo dancing at a bar which is so dumb and I don't care because Zemo isn't a comedic character but due to it being the MCU they had to make him family friendly and his turn into being nice is so stupid because he's a Nazi Zemo is from Hydra and nobody from that organization has ever turned good because you can't get a villain like Zemo to turn nice that easily because this is the same guy that killed Black Panther's father by blowing up a building and Captain America Civil War. Now I will say though I think this show does improve the character in terms of the stuff the show does well with Zemo and to be honest like rethinking about it I actually think he is up there with The Collector from Marvel's what if add one of the most entertaining phase 4 villains in the MCU.
Wyatt Russell plays John Walker/US Agent in this show and his performance is tremendous he does a spectacular job with his performance and you can tell that Wyatt Russell is having a lot of fun as this character and even parts where the show is not working Wyatt Russell still gives it his all. now the character of John Walker/us agent it actually my favorite character in the show because well he's not evil he does start out bad because he is a little crazy because he wants to prove to everyone that he could be a better Captain America than Steve Rogers And well Steve Rogers doesn't kill people John Walker/us agent doesn't have a problem across in the line and killing people to get what he wants and I think the whole John Walker Arc of him starting out bad and him turning good is actually the strongest storyline in this entire show. the scenes with John Walker/ us agent are some of my favorite moments in the show whether it's him meeting Sam Wilson/Captain America for the first time or him brutally beating Nico with his shield and killing him in the middle of the road it does lead to some really dark and some really scary moments throughout the show.
Emily Van Camp comes back as Sharon Carter and to be honest I didn't really care when she came back because this performance is just a really boring MCU performance that is just not that memorable you end up forgetting that Emma Van camp is in the MCU and to be honest i was never really into her in the MCU. I just found her really boring. To be honest that's how I feel about Sharon Carter in the MCU and in this show she's just boring she doesn't really do anything in her turn into becoming the power broker AKA the main villain that was so unbelievably stupid because if anyone should have been the main villain it should have been Zemo it should have been him being this character that is pulling the strings behind everything but they didn't do that they didn't give us another generic villain that doesn't even do anything.
The directing by Kari Skogland is so inconsistent because their stuff that she does right like the dynamic between Sam Wilson/Captain America and Bucky Barnes / the Winter Soldier that was really good the stuff. also the stuff that she tries to do with Zemo is really good but it's also inconsistent because well she develops more of his character. but she also makes Zemo become like silly and make him family friendly and make him into a good guy which was so dumb because no one from Hydra can change and become nice that easily. I also feel like she rushed a lot of stuff and the stuff with Sam Wilson becoming Captain America that was really rushed and the whole Flag Smashers was really boring and that it did not get a development and they were just really pathetic villains in the MCU they didn't post that much of a threat. The overall I don't think she did a great job directing the show.
So in conclusion I don't like this show because not only was it rush in terms of the storyline of Sam Wilson becoming Captain America but there were moments in the show that I found either cringe worthy or does really boring the most boring thing was the stuff with Shannon Carter and the dumb stuff was making Zemo family friendly. But the really frustrating part is that there is stuff I like about this show I think performance is a really good I think the stuff they did with Zemo for the most part was really good i enjoyed the dynamic between him and Sam Wilson/Captain America and Bucky Barn / the Winter Soldier I think those three characters work well together. I also like how they tied his character back to Captain America Civil War which I thought was really good. But this show made him stupid they made him dance and while he wear the mask he didn't wear it enough I was hoping it'll get burned on to his face and his heroic turn into being nice with so stupid because like said before he is a Nazi he's from Hydra and no one from that organization can be turn nice that easily. The action sequences were okay. But they weren't that incredible they were just dull except for the ones with U.S. Agent those ones were actually really good. But overall I just thought this show was very boring very rushed and it did't really develop Sam Wilson as a character as much as it did try it didn't really do anything so I say skip this show and go watch Loki with Ke Huy Quan that show is a lot better because the characters are more developed It's actually more consistent with its tone and it has better writing. But this show was just not that interesting so I give this show a 4/10.
