Here is My Movie Review of Black Widow

Here is my review of Black Widow.

So basically what the plot is  that it takes place during Captain America Civil War and it tells the origin story of Natasha Romanoff and how she became Black Widow. that is basically what the story is for this movie.

The acting in this movie for the most part is relatively good I think most of the actors are having fun as the characters. But I think the acting could have been a lot better.

Scarlett Johansson plays  Natasha Romanoff Black Widow in the film. i have to say she still does a fantastic job as the character and even in parts of the film that do not work scarlett Johansson still gives a really great performance as the character. the character of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow is really interesting because her backstory is decent because you find out that she was trained in the red room to become a skilled espionage assassin. but I think out of all the characters in the MCU her backstory is probably my least favorite because it's not terrible but I don't think it is good as Namor's backstory in Black Panther Wakanda Forever because he wanted to rage war with the Wakandans because the government made a machine to find vibranium and he thinks it is a threat to his kingdom so he wants to protect his kingdom at all cost so you can understand why he doesn't like the condensed doing that to his kingdom.

Florence Pugh plays Yelena Belova in the film. i have to say she does a decent job as the character. now the character of Yelena Belova is mixed because there is some stuff I like about her like for example she wants to help her sister Natasha take down General Dreykov and free all the other Black Widows from the red room mind control dust. but there are some stuff I don't like about the country like for example at the end of the movie they tried to make her into not necessary a villain but more of an anti-hero and I thought that was kind of dumb and out of character for her I mean yeah I understand that she wanted revenge on Hawkeye for not saving her sister.

Rachel Weisz plays Melina Vostok in the film. i have to say she actually does a good job and the character. Now the character of Melina Vostok is really interesting because you can tell that she really cares for her daughter and she wants to help them take down General Dreykov free all the other black widows that are being mind-controlled by the red dust in the red room. probably my favorite moment with Melina Vostok is where she is telling her daughter Natasha not to slouch at the table if she tell her that she's not slouching and it is probably one of the funniest moments especially when Red Guardian tells her to listen to her. and it's probably one of the few memorable scenes in the film. the chemistry between her and scarlett Johansson is really great.

However the absolute big standout of the entire film is David Harbor as Red Guardian. i still think out of all the characters Red Guardian is still my favorite character in the film because he was probably the most memorable character because all the scenes involving him and all of his jokes actually made me laugh and I really wish the film was all about him. Probably the funniest moment with Red Guardian is where he explains what the red room does how they experiment on the women by ripping all the reproductive organs and Black Widow and Elena are just grossed out by in a dent while him to keep discussing it and it was the funniest moment of the entire film. To be honest I would love that if there was a whole Disney plus show revolving around Red Guardian for 10 whole episodes that will be a really interesting show to watch. i'm looking forward to seeing him in the thunderbolts next year i think he'll be one of the best things in that movie.

Ray Winstone plays General Dreykov in the film. i have to say he still does a fantastic job as the character. i think between him and his daughter Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster he is a way better villain because he actually has a motivation because he basically wants to have an army of black widows under his control so he can have an army of skilled assassins. probably the best scene with General Dreykov is where he is explaining to Natasha Romanoff / black widow of what he is going to do once he had all the black widows under his control and not only was it really dark but it made sense because he was an army of them so he can carrying out espionage spy missions. is it probably the most intense moment of the film. the rivalry between the ham and Black Widow is decent. the chemistry between him and black widow is still amazing.

However the absolute worst to performance in the entire film is Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster. Now the character is all wrong because Taskmaster is supposed to be a male. I still think it was a strange idea to make Taskmaster a female because it just doesn't work. Now  Ant-Man and the Wasp did something similar to this with the character of Ghost who in the comics and in the cartoons was male. However unlike Taskmaster I'm actually okay with them making  Ghost a female because Ghost is a very obscure villain. Also Bill Foster didn't control Ava Star/Ghost like General Dreykov  did to Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster in this movie. Also Taskmaster in the comics, cartoons and even video games never took his mask off he always kept his mask on and never revealed his face.  I also think Taskmaster is up there with Ultron as one of the most disappointing Marvel Cinematic Universe villains. Also the weird thing is that in the trailers and the marketing made it look like that Taskmaster was going to be a male villain but when me and Lou watch the movie in theaters we were really disappointed because we were looking forward to seeing Taskmaster in live action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. I still think it is really poor marketing to the character of Taskmaster. Also fun fact there was originally going to be a solo Taskmaster movie but it was canceled for unknown reasons. If that movie did happen I think they would have made the character of Taskmaster like how he is in the comics. Also me and Lou would have been happy and we would have liked it. But me and Lou are really suspicious about what they're going to do with Taskmaster in the Thunderbolts movie I think out of the characters I think she is still going to be our least favorite in the film.

Now the directing by. Cate Shortland is interesting because there is some things that I like about her directing like for example all the stuff that she did with the red guardian was excellent and some of the stuff that she did with General Dreykov was relatively amazing and really interesting to watch. but the stuff that she does with Taskmaster was really bad because it just feels like she doesn't understand who the character is and to be perfectly honest it's not even taskmaster it just feels like a completely different character entirely like something that's not even from the comics It's from this movie only. so I think her directing could have been a lot better.

So in conclusion i was really let down by this movie Now it isn't a horrible movie it does have good things about it like for example Red Guardian out of character and David Harbor's performance is the best thing about the film and I still think all of his jokes landed. Also the dialogue in this film is decent. But I think the story in Black Panther Wakanda Forever worked a lot better because that film focused more on grief Well this film does focus on family but it doesn't have her grief over her family´s death as much as Shuri when she grieved over her brother's death T´Challa. also the villain Taskmaster was a big disappointment and one of the worst MCU villains of not the worst MCU villain of phase 4 because that will be the wrecking crew from She Hulk. but overall I was extremely underwhelmed by this movie I don't hate this movie I think it's one of the most disappointing MCU films of Phase 4 but not the most disappointing movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because that honor belongs to Avengers Age of Ultron as the most disappointing film I have ever seen. I give this movie a 5/10.
