Here is My Movie Review Of Superman
Now when this movie was announced I was really excited because the last couple Superman movies weren't really that good, Man of Steel was just boring and not interesting Batman versus Superman was unwatchable. So I saw the film and this did not disappoint me because this is one of the best Superman films we have had in a long time and it fixes most of the problems I had with the Zack Snyder Superman films because they were really dark and depressing. This film is light-hearted but it has steaks to it.
So basically what the story is for this film is that you have Superman who has been Earth for 3 years and he is going around caring for the sessions of Metropolis but then Lex Luther decides to ruin Silverman's reputation by seeding a message that his parents said that he was always tasked to take over the world and he doesn't want to believe that and the whole reason why Lex Luthor wants to do this is that he want to start a war with the Batavia and Jarhanpur the the two countries can try to kill one another and it's up to Superman to take down Lex Luthor with the help of the justice gang and save the world and that is basically what the storyline is for this film. I have to say out of all the Superman movies this one has either way the best storyline because I didn't really care for the storyline man steel and the storyline Batman versus Superman was just a mess. Well this film has won the easiest and one of the most entertaining storylines out of any comic book film of 2025.
Now as terrific as the storyline is for this film either way the thing that makes this movie perfect are the performances because out of all the Superman films this one easily has the best acting out of all of them. Also unlike the Zack Snyder Superman films the performance is not boring they're actually really tremendous and really entertaining to watch.
However the actor that steals this entire film is of course David Cornsweat who absolutely nailed it as Clark Kent/ Superman and something that he succeeds that Henry Cavill failed a dealing add the character is actually emoting because Henry Cavill was just so depressed and unhappy and that's why he didn't really care for him at the character. Well in this film David Corn sweat does make you care about Superman and he does a magnificent job playing the character and you could tell that he is having a ton of fun in this film. In fact I will put him up there with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine from the X-Men movies as one of the best superhero casting choices of all time. That's how perfect he was as this character. Now the character of Clark Kent/ Superman is perfect because he actually saves people, he doesn't kill anyone and he really cares about everyone and wants to protect Earth from other potential threats that might be looming throughout the universe. They also make you feel really bad for him because you know the town starts to hate Superman because of what Lex Luthor put out in the world and it makes him question if he wants to continue to be Superman or stop and that is actually the strongest aspect of the entire film. The scenes with Clark Kent/ Superman Are magnificent and really fun to watch and something that the Zack Snyder filmed failed at Dylan is making the scene's memorable here in the film I can remember a lot of the scenes with Superman whether it's him fighting Ultraman or him talking to the adopted parents or him meaning metamorpho all those moments are really fun to watch and I am looking forward to seeing what David Cornswent is going to do going forward as this character. The chemistry between him and Rachel Brannahan, Nicholas Halt, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Maria Gabriela, Skyler Gisoondo is outstanding. I think all the actors have terrific chemistry with one another.
Rachel Brannahan plays Lois Lane in the film And her performance is magnificent in fact I think she is a lot better than Amy Adams as Lois Lane in the DC extended Universe because that one was just there to be rescued he didn't really do anything in the Zack Snyder Superman films just really boring and really bland. Now the character of Lois Lane is perfect. She is very sharp and very sassy just like how she is in the comics. She doesn't take nonsense from anybody and she does care about Clark Kent / Superman even though they do argue. They still really cared about one another. The scenes with Lois Lane is perfect whether it is her meeting meant Mr. Terrific for the first time or her interviewing Superman, it does lead to some really powerful and emotional scenes in this film and the relationship between Clark Kent/ Superman and Lois Lane is the strong point of the entire film. The chemistry between her and David Corn Sweat is perfect because I can tell that both of them were having a lot of fun in the film.
Nathan Fillion Plays Guy Gardener / green Lantern i have to say I have all the performances he is probably my favorite performance in the entire film because you can tell that Nathan feeling is having a lot of fun playing this character and I have to say he is more accurate interpretation of Green Lantern is a lot better than the Ryan Reynolds one from 2011's Green Lantern because that one would just overly silly and you couldn't take him really seriously at all. Now the character of Guy Gardner/Green Lantern is accurate to the comics because this Green Lantern is very arrogant. He thinks he's better than everybody and that's what makes him really funny in this film. But he also wants to help Superman stop Lex Luthor so as well as being funny he does have a heart in this film in his own way. The scenes with Guy Gardner/ Green Lantern are really incredible wheather in the scene where he is reacting to lowest Lane saying that he had a really bad haircut or the theme of him fighting the giant Kaiju with Superman or him saving the people of Jahanpur. It does lead to some funny moments but some really exhilarating and powerful moments in the film as well. The chemistry between him and David Corn sweat is outstanding.
Edi Gathegi is really interesting because this is the same actor who played Darwin in X-Men First Class and I thought he was very bland and forgettable in that film. But luckily in the film he gives a tremendous and captivating performance as Michael Holt/Mr Terrific and you can tell that he is having a lot of fun playing this character. Now the character of Michael Hoit/Mr Terrific Ignorating because he's shown to be really intelligent and he wants to help Superman take down Lex Luthor and I like how he wasn't overly silly and he was a brilliant leader to the Justice League Gang. I am really looking forward to seeing what they're going to do in the future with Mr Terrific in this new DCU. The scenes with Michael Hoit Mr terrific are really fun and really amazing whether it is the scene where Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific Is going around saving people or is him introducing himself to Superman doesn't lead to some really fun action sequences and some really strong character moments as well. The chemistry between him and David Cornsweat is magnificent because you can tell that both of these actors are having a lot of fun in this film.
Maria Gabriela plays Angela Spica/The Engineer and her performance is really incredible and really fantastic to watch because she does a glorious job of making the engineer really intelligent and really intimidating at the same time. Now the character of Angela Spica/The Engineer is really incredible because she basically is Lex Louthor's help throughout the entire film and she wants to help like the cause of the War between Batavia and Jarhanpur so both of the countries can kill each other and try to kill Superman. The scenes with Angela Spica/The Engineer are really terrific and really nail biting and suspenseful whether it's the scene of her and Lex Luthor attacking the Fortress of Solitude or her controlling Ultraman to kill Superman it leads to some really fantastic and really intense action sequences throughout the film. The chemistry between her and David Corn Sweat is excellent.
Skyler Gisoondo plays Jimmy Olsen in the film and his performance is really fun and really entertaining to watch. Now the character of Jimmy Olsen is really fantastic because unlike the one Batman versus Superman who just dies this one actually has screen time and has stuff to do because he had actually a really light-hearted character he really cares about Superman as his friend and he wants to help Superman prevent the war between between Batavia and Jarhanpur from killing each other. As well as stopping Lex Luthor from destroying the world. The scenes with Jimmy Olsen are really incredible and really spectacular whether it is the scene with him interacting with Eve or him interacting with Lois Lane, it does lead to some really incredible and really captivating moments throughout the film. The chemistry between him and David Corn Sweat is magnificent.
Anthony Carrigan voices Rex Mason/Metamorpho In the film and his performance is probably one of the most powerful and one of the most emotional performances in the entire film and out of all the performances he is probably my second favorite performance in the entire film. Now the character of Rex Mason/Metamorpho is really incredible because you really feel bad for him because Rex Mason / Metamorpho because he is actually being manipulated by Lex Luthor and if he doesn't help him he will kill metamorphos son Joey and he turned against Lex Luthor after Superman tells him that you don't need to follow his orders and that causes Metamorpho to have a change of heart. The scenes with Rex Mason/ Metamorpho are really emotional and really beautiful to watch whether it is in the scene where Metamorpho is bonding with his baby Joey or him turning against Lex Luthor does lead to some really fun and really captivating moments in the film with this character. I am looking forward to seeing what they're going to do with Menomorpho in the future in the DCU. The chemistry between him and David Corn Sweat is spectacular.
Now let's talk about Nicholas Holt as Lex Luthor. To be honest, the only actors I enjoyed playing Lex Luthor were Gene Hackman and Clancy Brown, and Gian Carlo Esposito because I did not really care for Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor. I thought he was just really dull and really boring. I hated Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. I thought that one was really annoying and really stupid. Now as for Nicholas Holt who plays Lex Luthor in this film I thought he did a terrific job playing this character because you can tell that he is having a lot of fun as this character. Now Lex Luthor as a character is really interesting because he is just like how he is in the comic sees smug he's petty and jealous of Superman getting all the attention and his motivations are really interesting because he wanted to paint Superman in a bad light he wants to cause the countries to start World War III with Batavia and Jarhanpur. The scenes with Lex Luthor really incredible and really fantastic whether it is the scene of Lex Luthor breaking into the Fortress of Solitude or him gun up to a random person's head and shoot them point blank and kills him the other way to some really suspenseful and really chilling moments throughout the film. Also the film does a remarkable job of making you hate Lex Luthor because you really want something horrible to happen to this character and luckily something does happen to him he gets attacked by Krypto the Super dog and gets arrested. I think Lex Luthor is up there with The Leader from Captain America Brave New World as one of the most entertaining villains of 2025. Now there were scenes where Lex Luthor would raise his voice but it was actually really good but in the last half and the third act of the he was just yell everything and acted like a man child with him screaming but it wasn't as bad as Kylo Ren from Star Wars the Force Awakens. Now I do think Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor is better written because that actor felt more experienced playing the character while Nicolas Holt was fun to watch but it wasn't The best Lex Luthor of all time. He was still fun to watch. Now I will say unlike Jesse Eisenberg this one looked the most comic accurate and In terms of the design and personality of Lex Luthor. The Rivalry between him and Superman is perfect just like how it is in the comics. The chemistry between him and David Corn Sweat is marvelous.
Now as Gloria's as the acting was in the film either way the the best thing of this entire film is the directing by James going because he knocked out of the park he really understand who's Superman is as a character he represents hope he didn't make Superman a deranged psychopath like Zack Snyder did in his movies. I also like how he developed the relationship between Superman and Lois Lane because he didn't make it stereotypical when they or won't they get together. No he actually balanced their romance really perfectly like how it is in the comics. I also liked how he fixed the problems with the previous Superman films, like being too dark making Superman into a killer lack of care development. All of that is fixed in the film including the depiction of Lex Luthor. I also like how he develops the character of Metamorpho and makes him a really tragic and sympathetic character and I'm looking forward to seeing what good deals with this character next in his new DCU. So overall I think he did a magnificent job directing this film.
So in conclusion I really love the film. It had a very awesome and unique storyline for a Superman movie. Having a revolve around Silverman questioning his purpose in the world while trying to prevent war between two countries is a very unique concept for a Superman movie and the film executes it perfectly. The performances are tremendous especially from David Corn Sweat as Superman and I am really much looking forward to seeing what he's going to do as Superman in this new DCU. Also the action sequence is where I made the especially that file valid against Superman Ultraman and the engineer. Also I am mentally terrific and Guy Gardner/Green Lantern are probably one of my favorite characters in this entire film. Also both Nathan Fillion and Edi Gathegi play the characters perfectly and have amazing chemistry with one another. Although I like how this film fixes all the problems that the Zack Snyder Superman films had by being too dark and makes this one light-hearted but it still had higher stakes to it. I also think Lex Luthor well I don't think is as perfect as the Clancy brown one. But he was entertaining as the villain and the movie did a A remarkable job of making you hate him and all the things are really awesome especially Where he tells its crew to control Ultraman again to kill Superman and The whole thing of him trans Superman like garbage is probably one of the most accurate things of the entire film is probably the dark scene to watch in this entire movie. I think Lex Luthor is up there with The High Evolutionary From Guardians of the Galaxy volume 3 as one of the best villains of the 2020s and one of the best villains that is really fun to hate. I highly recommend you go see the film and dare you not be disappointed because it's the most comic accurate Superman film of this decade. I think this film is up there with Thunderbolts* with Lewis Pullman as one of the best films of 2025. I give this movie a 10/10.
