Here is My Movie Review of Shutter Island

Here is My Movie Review of shutter Island

So basically what this movie centers around is that you have this guy named Teddy Daniels And he is this World War II soldier and he has been traumatized by all the people he has killed so he and his partner Chuck go to this place called Shutter Island to examine all the insane patients that lived there. But it turns out that it is really a place for Teddy Dennis because he is part of this game that they're doing to try to fix his insanity so he has to do everything in his power to get off the island.  That is basically what the story is for this movie.

The acting in this movie is tremendous. I think everyone still gives that they're all you could tell that the actors they're having fun and this is probably one of the best acting that I have seen in a psychological thriller movie.

Let's talk about the main character Teddy Dennis played tremendously by Leonardo DiCaprio. Teddy Dennis is a character that you really feel sorry for because his wife died and keeps having strange nightmares about her. probably the most messed up scene in the film is when Teddy Daniels Find his three children that are drowning in the river and they are covered in a lot of blood  it just really dark to watch the the scene where Teddy Dennis is like crying and you can tell that When Leonardo DiCaprio cries in this movie it's very believable. You can tell that Leonardo DiCaprio had a lot of fun in the role and in the movie.  The chemistry between him and Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, and Max Von Sydow is still really awesome. Fun fact Leonardo DiCaprio two years after this movie was released he would go on to play the villainous Calvin Candie in Django Unchained in 2012.

Mark Ruffalo in this movie is really entertaining as the character of Chuck Aule. Chuck Aule Is a really interesting character because he also is trying to help Teddy Dennis investigate this mental hospital but it's later revealed that he was  with Doctor Cawley. The twist revealed that he was with Dr Cawley the whole time is probably the most surprising twist in 2010s. I can tell Mark Ruffalo was having fun in the role. The chemistry between him and Leonard DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley, and Max Von Sydow is still really excellent. Fun fact 2 years after this movie was released Mark Ruffalo  would go on to play the Hulk in the Avengers from 2012. Fun fact actors like Robert Downey Jr and Josh Brolin were considered for the role of Chuck Aule.

Max Von Sydow Isn't in this movie as much but for what he has he does a tremendous job as the character Doctor Naehring. Doctor Naehring Is a really interesting character because you don't really see him until later on in the movie. But when you do eventually see him he is very disturbing his introduction scene is really messed up but yet really entertained because you see the back of its head he's like in a chair and then you finally see him in there like blood all over the side of his face So you could tell how crazy he is. The chemistry between him and Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, and Ben Kingsley is still really amazing.

However the absolutely tremendous and entertaining performance in the entire movie is Ben Kingsley as Dr Cowley. Dr Cowley Is a really interesting character because he told them that the this crazy patient and he told them to interview all the inmates to figure out what drove the woman to do the thing that she did. The whole scene alone with him telling them what to do when they first need him it's probably one of the best moments in the entire film. I can tell Ben Kingsley was having fun in the role. You could tell he just relishes playing really smart and sophisticated characters and films. fun fact 3 years after this movie was released  he would would  go on to play the fake Mandarin AKA Trevor Slattrey and Iron Man 3 from 2013 and he would eventually years after that movie came out he would eventually reprise his role as Trevor Slattery in 2021's Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as a supporting character in the film. The chemistry between him and Leonard DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, and Max Von Sydow is still really excellent.

Now  the directing done  spectacularly by The best directors working today is Martin Scorsese. What I love about Martin Scorsese directing is that he really got the tone down for this movie because this is a really dark and suspenseful and psychological thriller. He does a great job of also attacking the subject of mental illnesses because Some people in real life are so crazy that they need to go to a mental hospital to seek help but sometimes it fails and they become even crazier.

So in conclusion I still really enjoyed this movie. I love how for the most part it just takes place in a mental hospital but mostly takes place on the island and I still think it is really cool how the film did that.I think this is one of the more underrated movies of the 2010s. I still think more people should watch it especially if you like disturbing movies like Buried with Ryan Reynolds. I give this movie a 10/10.
