Here is My Movie Review of Aladdin 2019
So basically what happens is that you have this guy Aladdin who lives in the village and he meets this girl named Jasmine who he starts to fall in love with but then You have this guy named Jafar who wants the lamp so he can acquire all the power in the world and the rule Agrabah. So it's up to Aladdin to take down Jafar and Save the kingdom and that's basically what the story is for the film. The storyline of this movie is just a rehash of the original online from 1992. The same story is just not interesting as it was in the original film.
The acting in this movie is just not that interesting. There are a few decent performances but most of them are just cheap imitations of the original performances from the original film.
Mena Massoud plays Aladdin in the film. I have to say his performance it actually pretty decent Because there are moments where Mena Massoud does act like the original Aladdin from the anime film and he he does pull it off for the most part. Now the character of Aladdin is relatively the same as he was in the original film because he still fall in love with Jasmine he's becomes a prince at the end of the film he still takes down Jafar like in the original film. Now The scenes involving Aladdin are really good for the most part whether it's him sing with Jasmine or him Standing up to Jafar did lead to some really fun moments. The chemistry between him and Naomi Scott, Will Smith, and Marwen Kansari Is okay.
However the best performance in this entire film is Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine. Now the character of Princess Jasmine is relatively the same as she was in the original film because she fell in love with Aladdin. But there are some differences to the character that she becomes the Sultan at the end of the film which I didn't really mind that change. The scene where she sings the song speechless is probably the most memorable scene of the entire film because it is actually an entertaining moment of the film. The chemistry between her and Mena Massoud Is okay.
Will Smith plays the Genie in the film. I have to say he did a good job as the character but I don't think he holds a candle to Robin William´s performance from the original film because Robin Williams gave a lot more effort in playing the character well. Now the character of the genie is the same as it was in the original he still Aladdin's best friend he still wishes to be free from the lamp and he wants to Take down Jafar and save Agriba Just like in the original one. The the scenes with the genie are Are fun to watch whether it's their first interactions or the scenes of the Genie singing or really fun to watch and they are probably the most entertaining parts of this film. The chemistry between him and Mena Massoud Is decent.
However the worst performance in this entire film is Marwan Kanzari as Jafar Because his performance is so dull and uninspired that it just feels like he's just playing himself rather than the character. But the character of Jafar is terrible because unlike Jafar from the original film this one is not even scary because he doesn't even do anything that's even remotely creepy or terrifying in the original film Jafar had a big presents in the film and he actually became an evil sorcerer and he became the sultan He also turned himself into a giant snake during the final battle of the film. But this film Jafar doesn't really do anything in fact I will say that he is the worst Disney Live Action movie villain because even if you didn't like the Lion King 2019 You could say Scar was accurate to his original counterpart I mean yes they didn't make him funny like how he was in the original But his motivation of wanting to kill Mufasa and ruling the pride lands are all there. But in this movie they just get everything wrong about the character. Also the Rivalry between him and Aladdin just wasn't that interesting because then the original film right from the start he knows that Jafar is evil and this one he doesn't even know that Jafar and evil until halfway through the film so that ruined their relationship in the film. I think Jafar is up there with Yon Rogg from Captain Marvel as one of the worst villains of 2019. The chemistry between him and Mena Massoud Is okay.
the directing by Guy Ritchie is pretty mixed because there is stuff that can get the right about the original film like the relationship between Aladdin and Jasmine and the Jeannie wanted to be free like those three characters he actually got right but what he got wrong was Jafar's motivations and Characterization because Jafar in the original was really scary this one was just annoying and really spoiled because there was nothing scary about him in fact I would say Scar from The Lion King 2019 where the lot more scarier As I already mentioned. So I think he's directing could have been a lot better again I do like how he makes Jasmine a more stronger female character i like how he got the relationship between Aladdin and Jasmine accurate to the original anime film but I think overall his direct and could have been a lot better and he should have Made a bear a script because I think the script in this movies biggest problem.
So in conclusion re thinking about I don't think this movie is that horrible and I thought was that being said though it's still not a good Disney live-action remake but I will say it's not as bad as like peter Pan and Wendy because that film is a lot more boring and a lot more Unwatchable. Now I will say though that Jude Law was a better Captain Hook then Marwan Kanzari was a Jafar in this movie because I think Captain Hook with a lot more scarier than Jafar because Captain Hook had a presence on screen while the far does not. Also there are some interesting and entertainment moments in the film and marked at the performances are really decent for the most partners just to far kind of ruins the film because I think if the guy in a different actor this film would have been a lot better. But in the end I just feel like this movie is below average. That's why I give this film a 4/10.
