Here is My Movie Review of The Last Thing He Wanted

Here is My Movie Review of The Last Thing He Wanted

So basically what happens and that takes place during the Civil War and then it flashes forward to the 1984 Re election of Ronald Reagan and you have this woman named Elena McMahon who is a journalist who is test to track down these arms dealers  until she is tasked to become one by her father Richard  McMahon but she doesn't want to do it but eventually she has to in order to report on the story that is trying to break and tell to the public about Central America about the political system of the states. It is up to Elena McMahon to expose the political party and get a good report on the political system and that's basically what the story is for the film.  The storyline of the film is so boring and so flat. It is probably the most boring movie storylines ever put into the film.

The acting in this movie is really bad and it feels like most of the actors are really bored while doing this film except for one performance that is the best thing about this movie.

Probably the worst performance in the entire film I'm sorry to say but Anne Hathaway is really bad as the character of Elena McMahon. It just feels like she is sleepwalking throughout her performance. What is really disappointing is that Anne Hathaway is a tremendous actress because if you watch her in TheDark Knight Rises when  she plays Catwoman In that film you can tell that she can act very well.  Now the character of  Elena McMahon is really boring and unmemorable because all she wants to do is to expose the political party and that's it and nothing interesting about the character. She's one of the most bland and one of the most boring main characters in a film. The scene when she Is at this party and she is celebrating that she is a really great reporter and that comes off as very filler heavy and serves nothing to the storyline. It is probably the most boring and the most filler moment of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Ben Affleck,  and Willem Dafoe is decent.

Ben Affleck plays Treat Morrison In the film. I have to say he does an awful job as the character. Now the character of Treat Morrison Is so bland and so boring. He's basically just here to just give Elena McMahon exposition and that's all his character does. Probably the worst scene with Treat Morrison Is where he and  Elena McMahon are discussing how good they are about discussing political stuff and it just comes off really boring and not interesting in the slightest. It is probably the most boring and filler heavy moment of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Anne Hathaway is fine.

Now the only good performance in this entire film is William Dafoe as Richard McMahon  because it feels like he is the only actor actually giving an awesome performance despite the horrible writing and the dialogue. I still think he is the saving grace of the entire movie. He is the best part of the film. Also the character of Richard McMahon is the only memorable character because you can tell that he can be really careless about his daughter Elena McMahon and he really wants to be a really great reporter. Probably the most memorable scene with Richard McMahon Is where he is talking with his daughter Elena McMahon In the hospital discussing how much  He really cares about her and it's probably the only memorable scene with him and I'm going to say this every scene with Richard McMahon  are the most memorable moments in the film. But I wish the film revolved around his character instead of his daughter Elena McMahon then the film would have been a lot better. The chemistry between him and Anne Hathaway is surprisingly remarkable because they are the only two actors to  have really great chemistry with one another.

The directing by Dee Rees And really bad because I don't know what she wanted us to be that she wanted to be a spy thrower or a political movie I simply don't know what is Her idea of the film It feels like she made this movie all messy because it feels like it wants to be It's trying to be a spy film but it's trying to be a political thriller as well and it is  just can't decide what wants to be that's how messy her directing is For this film.

So in conclusion I still Had the film. It is so boring nothing really happenes  because boring political stuff that you simply don't care about because the film swags around at a snail's pace. Also Anne Hathaway´s performance is so bad because she's not even trying in the film it feels like she is sleepwalking through it. The only legit good performance in the film was Willem Dafoe as Richard McMahon Because it felt like he was  the only actor that gave a great performance despite the bad writing. Everyone else was just sleepwalking throughout their performances. I say just skip this move and go watch Spider-Man no way home. It is a much better Willem Dafoe movie because it's not boring and it goes by way faster than this film. This is easily in my top 10 worst movies of 2020 and it's also in my top 5 most boring movies. It is also in my top 10 worst Netflix original films. I get this movie a 1/10.
