Here is My Movie Review of Palmer

Here is My Movie Review of Palmer

So basically what happenes is that you have this guy named Eddie Palmer Who has been in present for 12 years and he is been let out and he has determined to turn his life around and they can meet this boy Sam who At first he doesn't want to spend any time with but after his grandmother Vivian Passing away any Palmer is tasked to look after them they start to have a bond but Sam's mother Shelly wants him back and it is up to Eddie Palmer to protect Sam and turn his life around and that is basically what the story is for the film.

The acting in this movie is fantastic. I still think everyone does a terrific job as their characters.

However the absolut big standout of the entire film isJustin Timberlake as Eddie Palmer in the film. Now much like what I said in my review of The Farewell, this is a very different performance from Justin Timberlake because he  plays really funny or really down to earth characters but in this film he plays the character of Eddie Palmer. Surprisingly very serious and he does a spectacular job of doing it. What makes Eddie Palmer such a terrific character that you really feel bad for him because He has been in present for 12 years and wants to turn his criminal life behind and he really reminds me of Scott/Lang / Ant-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe because both characters were released from present and want to turn their lives around the difference in that Scott Lang/Ant-Man is a really funny and down to earth character. Well Eddie Palmer is very serious and doesn't crack any jokes. Probably the best scene with Eddie Palmer is where takes Sam away from his alcoholic mother Shelly and it not only was it really intense but it made sense because he didn't want to see Sam get abused by his parents. It is probably the most powerful moment in the entire film. The chemistry between him and Juno Temple, Ryder Allen, and Alisha Wainwright Is amazing.

Now for this being Ryder Allen´s very first movie he did. I have to say he still does a remarkable job as the character of Sam. What makes Sam such a really marvelous character is that you feel really bad for him because he has to live with his mother Shelly who constantly drinks and he really wants to have a  normal life. Probably the best moment with Sam is where he Tells his mother that she never really cared for him and he had to watch any power being taken Back to jail in the breaks down crying and not only was it really emotional but it made sense because they didn't want Eddie Palmer  to be taken away it is probably the saddest moment of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Justin Timberlake is exquisite.

Juno Temple Play Sam's mother Shelly. I have to say she still does a spectacular job as the character. Now the character of Shelly is really interesting because to say that she is deranged is too nice of a word to describe her. She has a lot of alcoholic addiction and mental issues and gets mad that her son is being taken away from her. Probably the best moment with Shelly is at the end of where she apologizes to Sam of the way she treated him and not only is it really emotional but it made sense because deep down she really loves her son and it is probably the second saddest moment in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Justin Timberlake is excellent.

Alisha Wainwright plays  Sam's teacher Maggie in the film. I have to say she still does an awesome job as the character. What makes Maggie such an incredible character is that you can see that she really cares for a student Sam and really wants him to be happy and to have a normal life. Probably the best moment with Maggie is when Eddie Palmer and Sam are at the bowling alley and they are having fun together and not only was it a really strong moment. But it made sense because you could tell that she really cares for students saying It is probably the most powerful moment in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Justin Timberlake is astonishing.

The directing by Fisher Stevens is wonderful because what I like about his directing is that Hey does a terrific job of tackling the subject of Turning in life around because if you go to jail and once you are relieved from there you have to get job and turn your life around to make your life better and I like how it takes it really seriously because being in jail is not a laughing matter you have to take the subject really seriously. I still think it is really outstanding of how he did that.

So in conclusion I still really enjoy the film. I still think the storylines are really powerful. Having Palmer try to reform and turn his life around is the strongest aspect of the film. The bonding between him and Sam is probably the best part of this entire film. I also like how even though this movie is not an A24 film. But at the same time it kind of is in A24 film because you have really powerful and emotional elements to it and a very fun and simple story to follow. This is probably up there with Swan Song as one of the most powerful and one of my favorite Apple TV plus films. Both Justin Timberlake and Ryder Allen Play off each other very well and you can tell that they were having fun as their characters.  Also this is probably up there with the tomorrow war with Chris Pratt as one of my favorite movies of 2021. It is one of the most powerful and beautiful films and it is the true art of cinema at its finest. I think if you enjoy really powerful movies like Cherry with Tom Holland then I'm sure you're going to like this one. I give this movie a 10/10.
