Here is My Movie Review of Gerald's Game
So basically you have this woman named Jessie Burlingame and her husband Gerald Burlingame And their marriage is not doing so well so they decide to go out to a cabin to spend time together so they can fix up their marriage and Gerald Burlingame decides to handcuff his wife Jessie Burlingame to the bed frame and they're about to have intercourse but Burlingame unfortunately Gerald suffers a heart attack dies so now Jessie Burlingame has to figure out a way to get her hands out of the handcuffs and escape. It is up Jessie Burlingame To escape and confront her past and that is basically what the story is for the film.
Now the acting in this movie is very entertaining because well there are a lot of characters they're mostly in flashbacks so the majority of the film does have two characters.
However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Carla Gigino as Jessie Burlingame. What makes Jessie Burlingame such an incredible character Is that you feel really bad for because she wants to get out of the handcuffs and escape and she is also confronting a dark past about her father harassing her. Probably the best moment with Jessie Burlingame Is where she gets the handcuffs off by cutting her hand open. Not only was it really intense but it made sense because she needed to figure out when to get the handcuffs off of her. It is probably the darkest scene in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Bruce Greenwood is astonishing.
Bruce Greenwood plays Jessie Burlingame’s husband Gerald Burlingame In the film. I have to say he still does a spectacular job as the character. What makes Gerald Burlingame such an excellent character is that he really wants to fix his and Jessie Burlingame’s marriage. Probably the best moment with Gerald Burlingame Is where he and his wife Jessie Burlingame are driving to the cabin and he said it would be good for the both of them and not only would it really emotional but it made sense because they wanted to fix up their marriage it is probably the most powerful scene in the entire film. The chemistry between him and Carla Gigino Is still excellent.
The directing by Mike Flanagan is excellent Because what I like about his directing that he does a great job adapting the story from the book really accurately because the same thing happens In the book Jessie Burlingame and her husband Gerald Burlingame Are having marriage problems and they want to fix it but taking a vacation out to a cabin. I still think it is really fantastic of how he did that.
So in conclusion I still really enjoyed this film. The storyline was really interesting because of how it was adapted from the book into the film. This is probably in my top 10 favorite movies of 2017. This is also up there with 1922 at the one of my favorite Stephen King movies. This is also in my top 10 favorite horror movies all time. This is probably up there with Extraction with Chris Hemsworth as one of my favorite Netflix original films. I still think if you like the movie Mute with Paul Rudd you'll definitely enjoy this film. I give this film a 10/10.
