Here is My Movie Review of Velvet Buzzsaw

Here is My Movie  Review of Velvet Buzzsaw

So basically what happens is that you have this Art credit named Morf Vandwait Who works at this museum and one day he falls in love with a woman named Josephine and they start to develop feelings for each other. But then Josephine one night finds the dead body and she thinks that there is a killer on the loose so it is up to her and Morf Vandwait what is causing all these deaths and that is basically what the story is for the film.

Now the acting in this movie is mixed. There are some performances In the film that I like but then there are some performances that either are bad or the actors were underutilized.

Now a lot of people say the best thing of this entire movie is Jake Gyllenhaal as Morf Vandwait. To be honest I 100% agree with that statement because even in parts where the film isn't working Jake Gyllenhaal gives a fantastic performance as the character of Morf Vandwait. What makes Morf Vandwait Such an interesting character that you can understand why he is going crazy because he thinks there's something wrong in the museum but everyone else thinks he is making all the stuff up. Probably the best moment with Morf Vandwait Is where to at the end And where the robotic Sculpture comes to life and tries to kill him and not only was it really dark but it made sense because there were paranormal hauntings in the museum. It is probably the most intense scene of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Zawe Ashton, Rene Russo, and John Malkovich is really terrific.

Zawe Ashton plays Josephine In the film. I have to say she does a great job at the character of Josephine. What makes Josephine Such an interesting character is that You understand why she is so concerned because you can tell that she's very horrified by what's been happening in the museum and you really want her to find out what is going on with the museum. Probably the best moment with Josephine is when she first meets Morf Vandwait For the first time and not only is it really interesting but it makes sense because he falls in love with her in the beginning of the film and it's probably one of the most emotional moments of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Jake Gyllenhaal is really awesome.

Rene Russo plays Rhodora Haze in the film. I have to say she did a decent job at the character of  Rhodora Haze. Also the character of Rhodora Haze Is next. There are some moments where I enjoy her but there are some Moments in the film where I just found a kind of a weak character. Probably in the best moment the best moment Rhodora Haze Is at the end where she sees all the paintings coming to life and attacking people Not only was it really Shocking but it made sense because you can see how scared She was because she didn't expect paintings to come to life and kill people It did probably the most darkest moment in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Jake Gyllenhaal is excellent.

However the worst performance I'm sorry to say John Malkovich is pretty bad as the character of Paris. To be honest I just felt like John Malkovich was sleepwalking throughout this entire performance and what's really disappointing is that he is a great actor if you watch him in Con Air with Nicolas Cage and Jonah Hex with Josh Brolin. You can see that he can act in movies extremely well. Also the character of Paris is so forgettable I'm not even joking I actually forgot he was even in the movie That's how forgettable John Malkovich is in this movie. The chemistry between him and Jake Gyllenhaal is remarkable.

The directing by Dan Gilroy And really strange because I don't know what he wanted me to be does he want this to be a horror movie or did he want this movie to have the social commentary message that art Critics are are just way too pretentious I just don't know what he was trying to do. Now I will give credit. He does a good job of doing the horror scenes really well because there are some scenes that were really creepy.

So in conclusion this is probably the most disappointing movie. This is probably the worst movie I have ever seen in 2019. This is also the most disappointing movies I have seen in the 2010s and I think this is up there with Avengers Age of Ultron as one of the most disappointing movies I have ever seen. Also there is stuff in the film Like Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance as Morf Vandwait. I do like some of the horror scenes. Also the effects to bring the paintings to life. They are  pretty good. But I just think the film failed because the social commentary of art clinics or critics in general because I think the movie The Menu from 2022 did that whole social commentary message a lot better because they openly acknowledge how a critic does their job. To be honest I would say this is not the worst Jake Gyllenhaal movie ever made because the worst Jake Gyllenhaal movie ever made is Accidental Love because that movie had no redeeming qualities. Well this movie has some good elements. But overall it is just one of The most disappointing and one of the worst Netflix Original Films. I have ever seen. Sadly I really wanted to like the film because again there are things I enjoy about the film. But overall I was incredibly disappointed with the film. I give this movie a 4/10.
