Here is My Movie Review of Southpaw

Here is My Movie Review of Southpaw

So basically what happens is that you have this championship boxer named Billy Hope  who has been boxing for a long time.  But one day  there is this guy named  Miguel Ecocar who kills his wife Maureen Hope  and  by committing too much  violence the court has decided to take his child away from him. It is up to Billy Hope to seek revenge on Miguel Escobar and be reunited with his daughter Leila Hope.  That is basically what  the story is for this movie.

The acting in this movie is remarkable. I think everyone gives it their best and you could tell all the actors are having fun in the roles.

Jake Gyllenhaal plays Billy Hope in this movie and I have to say that he  absolutely nailed it as the character of Billy Hope.  What makes Billy help such a wonderful character is that you really feel bad for him  because he had to watch a daughter be taken away  from him  and he also had to watch his wife die in front of him.  This is probably  Jake Gyllenhaal's best performance in the film.  Probably the best moment with Billy Hope is when he is grieving over the death of his wife Maureen Hope. It is probably the most powerful scene in the entire film.  The chemistry between him and Rachel McAdams,  Forest Whitaker,  Miguel Gomez, and Oona Laurence  is outstanding.

Forest Whitaker  plays Billy Hope ´ s trainer Tick Willis. I have to say he does a remarkable job as the character of Tick Willis.  What makes Tick Willis  such a  spectacular character is that  he really wants to help Billy Hope train for  his match against Miguel Escobar. Probably the best scene in the movie is where Tick Willis  is training Billy Hope  to get back into the ring. It is probably the strongest moment in the film.  the chemistry between him and Jake Gyllenhaal is astounding.

Rachel McAdams is not in this movie a whole lot but for what she does have, she  does a fantastic job as the character of Maureen Hope.  What makes Maureen Hope  such a sympathetic character is that she really cares about her husband Billy Hope.  Probably the   saddest part of the entire film is where she dies right in front of her husband Billy Hope; it is probably the most depressing scene of the entire movie.  The chemistry between her and  Jake Gyllenhaal  is excellent.

Miguel Gonez  plays Billy's Archival Miguel Escobar. I have to say he does a flawless job as the character of Miguel Escobar.  What makes Miguel Escobar  such an awesome rival is that  he is really tough and really intimidating.   Probably the best moment with  Escobar  and during the match where he  attacks Billy Hope it is probably the most intense scene of the entire film. The rivalry between him and Billy Hope is fantastic.  The chemistry between him and   Jake Gyllenhaal is remarkable.

However, the absolute big standout of the entire film is Oona  Laurence  as Leila Hope.  What makes Leila Hope  such a sympathetic character  is that you really feel sorry for because all she wants is to spend time with her dad.  probably the best  moment with Leila Hope  is when she's in the courtroom with her dad Billy Hope and the police take her away  and you see her breakdown crying because she doesn't want to be away from her dad and it is probably the most emotional and the most depressing moment throughout the entire film.  The relationship between her and Billy Hope  is astounding.  The chemistry between her and   Jake Gyllenhaal is phenomenal.

The directing by Antoine Fuqua  is tremendous because what I like about his directing is that he does a great job of rackling the subject of  child custody  because  and what is really sad is that in real life there are kids who get taken away from their parents. I think it is really amazing how he did that.

So in conclusion I really enjoyed this movie.  I think this is one of Jake Gyllenhaal's best movies.  I think this is my new favorite  Jake Gyllenhaal movie.  I think this is one of the best movies of 2015.  I think this is a really underrated sports drama film that I think more people should watch if you enjoy Rush with Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhi. I give this movie a 10/10.
