Here is My Movie Review of Jonah Hex

Here is My Movie Review of Jonah Hex

So basically what the movie centers around is that it tells the origin story of Jonah Hex how he had to watch Burke and Quentin Turnbull kill his entire family. So he decides to get revenge on Burke and Quentin Turnbull for killing his entire family. then you have Burke and Quentin Turnbull wanting to build a weapon to kill the US government so they can see his control over the city. It is up to Jonah Hex to take down Quentin Turnbull and Burke and save the city and that's basically what the story is for this movie.

Now the acting in this movie I don't think is as bad as the other people make it out to be. I still think most of the actors are doing a great job and their characters you can tell they are having fun in their roles.

Now Let's talk about Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex. You know everyone knows him as Thanos from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also a lot of people know him as Cable in Deadpool 2. But I have to say I  still don't think he is that bad as Jonah Hex. I do think he does a great job as the character. What makes Jonah Hex such an interesting character that all he wants to do is to get revenge on Quentin Turnbull and Burke for killing his entire family. Also I don't mind the makeup on Josh Brolin's face I do think it looks accurate to the comics. Fun fact Josh Brolin would go on to play two Marvel villains He would go on to play Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy to Avengers Endgame. He would eventually go on to play Cable from Deadpool 2. The chemistry between him and Michael Fassbener, Megan Fox, and John Malkovich is still really terrific.

Megan Fox in this movie is rather decent and the character of Lilah Black. But the character of Lilah Black is rather bland; she just serves as Jonah Hex's love interest in the film. She kind of suffers the same problem as Blake Lively did Ryan Reynolds wife in Green Lantern wear her character much like Megan Fox's character in this movie is just the main characters love interest but I think Green Lantern did the romance between Green Lantern and Carol Feris was done a lot better because I actually bought that chemistry for the most part in that film. I just didn't really care for the romance between Jonah Hex's and Lilah Black. I would say that Josh Brolin and Megan Fox did work well together in this movie. I still think that chemistry was pretty good.

Michael Fassbener in this movie plays Burke In the film. I still think Michael Fassbener  still does a spectacular job as the character of Burke. What makes Burke such an interesting villain is that he basically wants to help Quentin Turnbull kill the US government and take over the city. Probably my favorite moment with Burke is at the very beginning with his boss Quentin Turnbull and he burns down Jonah Hex´s house and kills his entire family and not only is it really dark but definitely sets the tone of this movie very well. fun fact Michael Fassbender would eventually go on to play Magneto in X-Men First Class. The chemistry between him and Josh Brolin is still really amazing.

However the absolute standout of the entire movie is John Malkovich as the character of Quentin Trunbull. What makes Quinton Turnbull such a tremendous villain is that he really has a really understandable motivation. He wants revenge on Jonah Hex for  killing his son. I still think this is the most underrated DC movie villain performance.  I could tell John Malkovich was having fun in the role. His death is still really excellent. I also still think he is one of the most underrated movie villains of the 2010s.  The rivalry between him and Jonah Hex is still excellent. The chemistry between him and Josh Brolin is still remarkable.

The directing by Jimmy Hayward is still really interesting. What I like about his directing is that he does a great job of getting the origin of Jonah Hex accurate to the comic books as possible. I still think it is really interesting how he did that.

So in conclusion I don't think this is the worst superhero movie ever made. I still think movies like Fantastic Four 2015 and Batman versus Superman Dawn of Justice are even worse than this movie because at least with this movie it's very entertaining and it has way better written villains than Fantastic 4 2015 and Batman Versus Superman Dawn of Justice. I still think this is Josh Brolin's most underrated movie that he has done. I still think more people should re-watch this movie before calling it a piece of garbage movie. I give this movie a 10/10.

  1. I enjoyed reading this review. I remember seeing Jonah Hex in the theatre years ago when it came out and enjoying it. I could not understand why it received so many negative reviews.

    1. I agree with you Lou that Jonah Hex is not the worst superhero movie ever made. I re-watched the movie two times in one day. I enjoyed Josh Brolin's performance as Jonah Hex. I think his performance is up there with the Ray Stevenson ´ s performance at the Punisher from Punisher War zone as one of the most underrated superhero performances. I also enjoyed John Malkovich's performance as Quentin Turnbull. I think his performance is right up there with Dominic West ´ s performance as Jigsaw from Punisher War zone as the most underrated supervillain performance in a superhero movie. I think fantastic Four 2015 is worst than Jonah Hex because at least with this movie you can have fun with it and it has a really great storyline but with fantastic for 2015 it's very boring and you can't really be entertained by it whatsoever.
