Here is my Movie Review of Sound of Metal

Here is my Movie Review of Sound of Metal

So basically what happened is that you have this heavy metal drummer musician named Ruben and he's been a heavy metal drummer for a long time. Then he wakes up nearly deft one day. He tries to raise money to get the hearing implant so he can hear again and he has to go to a school that teaches him how to sign language. That is basically what the story is for this movie.

The acting in this movie is tremendous. But much like other movies that I have discussed, there are fewer actors. I really don't have much to say about the acting in general but I have a lot to say about the performances from the actors.

Olivia Cook does a tremendous job as the character of Lou. What makes Lou such a phenomenal character is that you understand where she's coming from because she is  really concerned that her boyfriend Ruben might hurt himself and herself if he doesn't get help. Also the relationship between her and Ruben is the strongest aspect in the movie. Probably my favorite scene is where she and Ruben are on a tour together. The chemistry between her and Riz Ahmed is really spectacular.

However the true star of the film is Riz Ahmed who absolutely nailed it as the character of Ruben. What makes Reuben such a tremendous character is that you really feel bad for him because he loved being a metal drama and now that he's become deft which means he can't really hear anymore. Probably the saddest scene is where Ruben breaks down by breaking his music equipment in his own trailer stating the fact that he thinks he will never drum again and again even more depressing where he asked his girlfriend Lou to kill him because he can't take the thought of losing his hearing. What's really sad is that in real life there are some musical artists or drummers who have lost their ability to hear and sometimes they get really depressed about it. I think the character of Reuben might be the most tragic main character in a movie in the 2020s so far. Probably my favorite scene is where Ruben learns how to use sign language. It is probably the strongest and most emotional scene in the film. The chemistry between him and Olivia Cook is tremendous.

The directing by Darius Marder Is excellent. What I like about his directing is that he does an extraordinary job of tackling the subject of being deft Because in real life there are some people that are actually deaf and they can't hear and even some actors are deft and even some musicians are deft as well other event famous painters that can be deft as well. I think it is really great how he does that. I think his directing is right up there with Lulu Wang´s directing of the farewell because both of the directors know how to tackle different subjects.

So in conclusion I really enjoyed this movie. The storyline was really fun to follow and really simple to understand. I also like how this movie almost feels like an A24 film but it's not but it feels like it is one In terms of telling a really simple story to follow. I think Ruben is a really interesting main character. I give this movie a 10/10.
