Here is My Movie Review of Regular Show the Movie

Here is my movie review of Regular Show the movie

So basically what the point is that you have Mordecai and  Rigby, they're late to work as usual and Benson has had it and fired them. Then a spaceship crashes in the park and it's Rigby from the future who tells the park gang that he was shot by Mordecai from the future. Mordecai and Rigby and the park gang have to go back in time to stop Mordecai and Rigby from the past from making the time machine and prevent the Timenado and take down Mr. Ross and save the universe, which is basically what the story is for this movie. now the storyline in this movie is Is okay but it could have been a lot better because I feel like all the idea that good is just the way it executes It could have been done a lot better.

now the acting in this movie I think for the most part works I think most of the actors a great job you can tell that some of them are having fun at the characters although there is one performance I still don't like.

Mordecai in this movie Is very inconsistent because in the first two acts I think he was relatively decent he was tolerable to watch But once the third act happens that's when we're kind really went from terrible to unlikable because he treats Bentham like garbage he treats his best friend Rigby even worse He gets mad at Rigby over the fact that he didn't get into the college that he and Rigby wanted to attend together and it just no the idea of Mordecai getting married be for not attending college is a great idea in concept I actually liked this idea how their friendship is forced to be tested but execution-wise it works in the first two acts but by the third act it doesn't work Now given credit J.G. Quentin does a wonderful job as the character.

Rigby in this movie much like Mordecai was relatively fine for the first two acts of the film. But by the third act i just found him annoying because the scene where he cries. I just didn't feel as bad for him because it just came out of nowhere for me I think if they built the scene up it would have been relatively great. William Salyers Voices Rigby. I have to say he  still does a decent job at the character even when Rigby cries he still does a great job conveying that emotion of sadness.

But the character I feel like was wasted the most is Skips because this is one of Mark Hamill's best performance So what does skips do in this movie Well I'm not joking I mentioned this but he does the least in this entire movie. To be honest Skips is just here to crack jokes and the movie does a good job of incorporating him into the story but he's mostly in the background for the majority of the film. Now Mark Hamill still does a tremendous job at the character he just doesn't have much to do.

Benson in this movie I still think is the best part of the film he is still funny and he is really entertaining. Probably the funniest moment in the film is where he says to Mordecai and Rigby and now for the word that I've wanted to say to you guys for a long time you're fired and not only was funny but it made sense because he was done with them not obeying his orders. Also I do wish Benson had more of a bigger role in the film because well he had stuff to do I just feel like he was under-utilized in the film. Sam Marin voiced Benson and he still is the best performance In the entire film because most of the acting is okay but Sam Marin is the one true standout of the entire film.

Now let's talk about the villain the film  honestly the villain is awful Mr Ross just to over a top and his motivations are just really dumb and really pointless because his motivation he wants to use the timenado to destroy the universe all just because Rigby ruined his volleyball game and it comes off as really ridiculous and just very cliche and predictable. Also Mr Ross  Just does not have an on-screen presence like Kang the Conqueror because the film tries to make him like Kang The Conqueror from Ant-Man the Wasp Quantumania and it just completely fails because He is not scary or intimidating at all because at least with King he was scary and he had an on-screen presence.  Also Mr Ross whatever he raised his voice it was so annoying because he tries to be like The High Evolutionary from Guardian of the Galaxy Vol 3 but the only difference is that The High Evolutionary have a reason to raise his voice because he thinks he is the Messiah because  he think that he's better than everybody else in the world he thinks he is God. Also you don't understand why Mr Ross hates Mordecai and Rigby. In Eternals you can see the hatred that Ikaris had for the Eternals. In Ant-Man and Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantum Mania you can see the hatred that Darren Cross / Yellow Jacket / M.O.D.O.K had for Scott Lang / Ant-Man and Hank Pym. Even In Jack the Giant Slayer you can see the hatred that  General Fallen had for Jack. But with Ross I just don't understand where his hatred he has for Mordecai and Rigby comes from and when he meets Mordecai and Rigby when they are adults he doesn't even react to it. The other villains  I mentioned are not considered the best villains. But even they managed to give a reason why they hate the main characters. I still think Mr Ross is up there with Lex Luthor from Batman versus Superman Dawn of Justice as one of the worst villains of the 2010s. Also to be honest Mr Ross could have been a compelling villain if the film was longer and if he had better dialogue. Mr Ross is voiced by Jason Mantzoukas and his performance is so terrible because he is really over the top and cheesy and  not really entertaining.  I still think they should have picked someone else like Willem Dafoe because he was really menacing as the Green Goblin in Spider-Man No Way Home. Another actor they should have picked is Gary Oldman because I still think Gary Oldman would have made a terrific choice to voice Mr Ross because in Kung Fu Panda 2 he is really menacing as Lord Shen.  Also I still think Paul Rudd would have been a decent choice to voice Mr Ross because it would be interesting to have Paul Rudd to play a villain in an animated film. Also Billy Bob Thornton would make a good choice to voice Mr Ross because it'll be funny to have Mr Ross have a southern accent. Also even at the end of the movie  tries to make you feel sorry for him. it just comes off as rip off to the villain in Everything Everywhere All at Once Joy Wang/Jobu Tupaki but the only difference between that you do feel sorry for and you understood why she did the things that she did because her mother ignored her and treated like she was nothing so that is why she wanted to go inside the multiverse to kill every variant of her mother. Also by the end he does apologize to her mother and they forgive each other at the end of the film. the end of that film is better than the ending in this film because they actually built it up. But in this film it felt kind of rushed and didn't develop its ending very well.

Probably the worst thing about this movie is not the tone or the acting It is the runtime because this movie clocks in about 1 hour and 10 minutes. I just feel like this should have made the film longer to develop Mr. Ross that's what they should have done. This movie should have been 2 hours and 33 minutes so that way the film can develop Mr Ross and give him better lines and motivations.

The tone of the film is really inconsistent because there are some points in the film where it's light-hearted but by the third act it just goes way too dark and I feel like it needs to be a mix between light hardness and seriousness. I wish that the tone of this movie was the tone of Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantum Mania because that film was dark but had some light-hearted moments. I think the film overall tries to be two films The first two acts tried to be like Ant-Man the Wasp with all the light-hearted and funny moments but by the third act of this movie it tries to be like zodiac like really dark and that's not what the film should have been because Zodiac revolt around a real life serial killer this is a time travel story.

Now the action sequences in the film are not bad I will admit the opening spaceship battle was really good. Also I will admit the hallway fight was really interesting. But the problem is they don't push the violence in this film it's all PG it should have been PG-13 like the Action Sequences in Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom if they went that route then maybe the action sequences would have been really great. But believe it or not the worst action sequence is the climax is the final battle with Mordecai and Rigby against Mr Ross it was nothing climax because it is a absolute rip off to the final battle against Cassie and M.O.D.O.K from Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantum Mania The only difference being that that climax actually had some funny moments but this climax is basically nothing and that's another thing that really ruins the climax there's not much steaks in this film It's all playing it way too safe and not to mention It also rips off another climax from another movie and that is shockingly Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom The only difference being that final battle against Indiana Jones and Mola Ram was a lot more intense and it was actually entertaining but this climax could have been good if they pushed the violence. I'll say this the action sequence is in this film or way better than the actress sequences in Suicide Squad 2016.

The directing by J.G Quintel is Okay because there is some stuff he does very well like keeping the character of Benson relatively the same.He acts just like how he is in the TV show. Also i will admit i do like the idea of him making this movie dark but to be honest he should have done it like Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantum Mania where the film is dark but there are some funny moments. But the problem is that I just wish he developed Mr Ross better he does made him into this overly cartoony villain that you can't really take seriously and that's the biggest problem with his directing but overall I think he did a decent job of directing the film.

So in conclusion I don't think this film is horrible there are a lot of good things about the film. But to be honest I was really disappointed with the film because I really wanted to like this movie because I´m big fan of the TV show and this movie could have been like the TV show it feels a little more light-hearted instead of being overly dark. The run time was poorly used it should have been a lot longer like 2 hours and 30 minutes Instead of making it 1 hour and 10 minutes. Now obviously the best part of the movie is Benson Same Marin still does a tremendous job and he is the best actor in the movie He is having a lot of fun as the character. but it feels like he was like Christian Bale from Thor Love and Thunder in terms of not having enough screen time. I still think he should have been the main focus of the film. The tone is all over the place because it doesn't know what it wants to be does it want to be this want to be a time travel comedy film or does it want to be like Zodiac being really dark now the idea of making this movie dark is not a bad idea but it could have been done a lot better in the film. I think the tone should have been like Kung Fu Panda 2 having it be light-hearted but also have a few dark moments and Mr. Ross think of Aldridge Killian from Iron Man 3 and Ajax from Deadpool and you get this movie´s villain he will go down as the worst villains you will ever see and also the best scene in the movie is where at the beginning Benson yelled at Mordecai and Rigby for being late. Also I'm going to say Mr Ross is even worse than Dar-Benn was in the Marvels as much as I found her very boring and just a one dimensional villain at least she had a decent motivation At least Zawe Ashton beaded the lousy performance that Jason Mantzoukas gave as Mr Ross. Overall I suggest you skip this movie and go Shang Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings because at least with Xu Wenwu Is a better Villain because you felt bad for him. I give this movie a 4/10.
