Here is my movie review of Eternals.
So basically what the plot is is that it tells the origin story the celestials and the eternals and the eternal all must team up to take down the deviants and Ikaris and save the world and that's basically what the story is for this movie.
Now a lot of people say that the acting in Eternals is really bad and really unwatchable. i disagree with that statement I still think the acting isn't all that bad because I did think for the most part the acting is very consistent I still think everyone gives it they're all. although to be honest only one bad performance in this entire film I think all the rest of the performances work It is just that one that didn't work. Also if you really see really bad acting go watch Batman versus Superman Dawn of Justice that has acting that is so bad that it is virtually unwatchable. Also nobody is giving any good performances in that movie well in this movie I think for the most part everyone give tremendous performances.
Angelina Jolie plays Thena In the film. I have to say she still does a marvelous job as the character. What makes Thena Such an incredible character is she wants to take down Kro and stop Tiamut ´ s Emergence from happening. Probably the best moment with Thena Is where she tells Sersei that When you love something you must protect it and and she loved the human sense the day they arrived on Earth and not only was it really emotional Play it made sense because now that a jack is dead they need a new leader to lead them to save the universe and it is probably the most powerful moment in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Salma Hayek, Kit Harington, German chain, Kumail Nanjiani, Barry Keoghan, Lauren Ridloff, Lia McHugh, and Richard Madden is astonishing.
Salma Hayek plays Ajak In the film. I still think she does a marvelous job as the character. What makes Ajax such an incredible character is that much like the rest of the team she also wants to take down the deviance and Ikaris to save the universe. Probably the best moment with Ajax Is where she is trying to fight against Kro And kill him but unfortunately she died and not only was it very tragic but it made sense because he overpowered her and killed her it is probably the saddest moment in the film. Fun fact actresses like Ana De Armas, Eiza Gonzalez, Naomi Scoot, and Gina Rodriguez were all considered to play Ajak.
Kit Harington plays Dane Whitman In the film. I have to say he still does a terrific job as the character. What makes Dane Whitman such an interesting character is that much like the rest of the eternals he wants to Take down the deviance and save the universe. But the problem is he doesn't really do anything because they set up him as the Black Knight at the end of the film but yet they never bring that up anywhere else in the MCU. So they failed with developing Dane Whitman as a character Probably the best moment with Dane Whitman is where he sees Sersei going up in the sky and he is panicking and not only was it really powerful but made sense because he had to watch the love life get sent up to the sky to talk to Arishem the Judge it is probably the most intense moment of the film. The chemistry between him and Angelina Jolie is outstanding.
Gemma Chan plays Sersi In the film. I have to say well Gemma Chan's performance is great. But I think they should have gone to someone else because this is the same actress who played Minn Erva in Captain Marvel. It's just really confusing how they double cast her. Now I am happy that she played a way better character in the MCU but any other actress could have played Sersei. Now the character of Sersei is really awesome because she wants to help the rest of the eternals take down the deviance and take down Ikaris to save to the universe. Probably the best scene with Sersei is where When she gets taken by Arishem The Judge and She explains to him that Ajax was killed by a deviant and not only was it really dark but made sense because he had to tell her the life cycle of how earth. Fun Fact actresses like Marie Averopoulos, Sofia Boutella, and Tatiana Maslany were all considered to play Sersi.
Kumail Nanjiani plays Kingo in the film. I have to say out of all the performances in the film he is probably my favorite favorite character in the entire film. What makes Kingo such a spectacular character that much like the rest of the eternals he also wants to take down the deviance and Ikaris to restore balance to the universe. Probably the best scene with Kingo is where he is Ikaris in this musical and he sees Ikaris and not only was it really funny but it made sense because he was happy to see his leader. It is probably the funniest moment of the entire. The chemistry between him and Angelina Jolie is astounding.
Lia McHugh plays Sprite in the film. I have to say out of all the performances I still think she is my fourth favorite performance in the entire film. What what makes Sprite such a tremendous character is that she's misunderstood because all she wants is to be with Ikaris because she has feelings towards him but unfortunately she can't be with him because she is a kid and he is grown up. I still think it was really cool how they handled that very well. Probably the best moment with Sprite is where she goes along with Ikaris plan and not only was it really shocking but it made sense because she was obsessed with him she had romantic feelings towards him and it is probably the most surprising moment in the entire film. The chemistry between her and Angelina Jolie is perfect.
David Kyle voices Arishem The judge in the film. I have to say he still does a glorious job as this character. Now Airshem The Judge as a character An incredible because he's essentially the overarching villain of the film he the one that watching over the universe and his motivations is that he doesn't want the eternals to interfere with anything Because he's essentially God who is wanting everything to be imbalanced the way it So nothing bad happens to the universe. The scene Arishem The Judge punishes Sersei by banishing her it was a darkest moment of the entire film because she broke the roll because the rule was not to interfere with anything but her and her team undead the balance of the universe and that is why Arishem The Judge past judgment on to her and imprisoned her. It is probably one of the most disturbing moments of the entire film. Fun fact actors like Tom Hiddleston, Vin Diesel, Morgan Freeman, James Earl Jones, Liam Neeson, and Keanu Reeves were all considered to voice Arishem The Judge. The chemistry between him and Gemma Chan is excellent.
Lauren Ridloff plays Makkari In the film I have to say she does an excellent job as the character. What makes Makkari Such an awesome character that much like the rest of the Eternals she also wants to take down the deviance and save the world and take down Ikaris. Probably the best moment with Makkari Is where she sees Icarus killing one of their teammates and not only was it really intense but it made sense because it made her to seek vengeance on him for killing one of their teammates. It is probably the most powerful moment in the entire film.
Barry Keoghan plays Druig In the film. I have to say he still does a remarkable job as the character. What makes Druig such an amazing character is that much like the rest of the Eternals she also wants to take down the deviance and save the world and take down Ikaris. Probably the best moment with Druig Is where he kept calling Makkari beautiful not only was it really sweet. But it makes sense because you can tell how much you care about her it is probably the most lighthearted moment in the entire film. Fun fact actors like Keanu Reeves, Dev Patel, Tom Holland, John Boyega, Harry Styles, Nicholas Halt, Taron Edgerton, Timothy Chalamet, Luke Evans, Remi Malek, and Ian McShane were all considered to play Druig. Also here is another fun fact 2 years after this film was released Barry Keoghan went on to play Oliver Quick in thee 2023 film Saltburn. The chemistry between him and Angelina Jolie is awesome.
However the absolute big stead out of the entire film is Richard Madden as Ikaris. What makes Ikaris such a terrific villain in that at first you think he is one of the members of the eternals he wants to help fight the deviance but in the third act is reveal that he was the main villain all along I think it is a really great twist because you don't know if he's good or bad. No his villain is actually really really interesting because his motivation is that he wants Kill Ajak to prevent her from from stopping Tiamut´s Emergence in name of Arishem the Judge and if you think about it he actually wins in the end because he actually killed Tiamut Now ask for the other motivations he wanted to marry Sersei kill his former teammates and create new intelligent life in the galaxy but he assumed aborted those ideas and end up sacrificing himself to save the galaxy by flying too close to the sun. Probably the best moment with Ikaris is where he realizes that he has gone to far so he decides to end up killing himself and not only was it really emotional but it made sense because he had to end of the life in order to redeem himself It is probably the most powerful moment in the entire film. I still think Ikaris is my favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe villain in phase 4. The rivalry between him and the Eternals is really terrific. Fun fact actors like Armie Hammer, Sam Heughan, Charile Hunnam, Alexander Skarsgard, Joe Kennard, Garrett Hedlund,Jason Lewis, and Zack Duhame were All considered to play Ikaris.
The directing by Chlo ´ e Zhao. I still think she does an awesome job directing this movie. What I like about her directing is that I like how she keeps a consistent tone throughout the movie because you can have a really funny scene like Kingo annoying Sprite with his video camera. But then you'll have a really dark scene like Ikaris betraying the Eternals. I think it is really cool how she did that. I also like how she made the eternals better than they were in the comics because then the comics they weren't really that great of the team of superheroes they were just rather boring and not engaging and characters. But in this movie they are way more fun and entertaining and they all have distinct unique and separate personalities. I think it is really cool how she did that. Fun fact directors like Nicole Kassell, Cristina Gallego, Ciro Guerra, and Travis Knight were considered to direct this movie.
So in conclusion i don't think this movie is that's bad as a lot of people saying is to be honest there are far worse movies like Doctor Strange 1970 and Daredevil 2003 those two films were more unwatchable than this. I still think the MCU did a great job of improving these characters because in the comics the eternals are so boring and bland but in this movie they gave them unique and entertaining personalities. I still think Ikaris is still up there with Xu Wenwu from Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as one the best phase 4 Villains. I also think the action scenes are really fun. I also love the climax and the twist reveal with Ikaris was really fun. I think more people should give this movie a watch before calling it one of the worst MCU movies of all time. I think if you enjoy the movie Guardians of the Galaxy you'll probably like this one. I give this movie a 10/10.
