Here is my Movie Review of Stranger Things The Piggyback
Now when it comes to Stranger Things I still really enjoy the show and this episode of Stranger Things feels more like a movie rather than an episode. This is probably one of the best movies of 2022. Also this movie does something that Avengers Age of Ultron failed to do and is that it had a consistent tone because that movie's just overly silly and they made the villain Ultron into a joke. But with this movie they did not do that. They keep everything really dark and really horrifying from the beginning to the end.
Now the storyline of this film is brilliant because it focuses around the character Elven and the citizens of Hawkins preparing her final battle with Vecna to save the world and kill all of the demons and she has use all the power that she had inside of her to use against Vecna and kill him once and for all. Now while they're doing that you also have Dustin and Eddie working together to kill all the flying bat demons that Vecna sends them after them. So it's up to Elven and the citizens of Hawkins to take down Vecna and save the world and that's basically what the story is for this film. I have to say the storyline in this movie is tremendous and because every single character in Stranger Things plays a gigantic role in this film and even someone like Joyce Byers Will's mother she has a lot to do in this film as well. I think this film's storyline is up there with the storyline in Everything Everywhere All At Once with Ke Huy Quan as one of the best story lines of 2022.
Now as magnificent as the storyline is, that's not the thing that makes this movie as perfect as it is. Don't get me wrong, the storyline is super intense and really heart pounding. But the thing that makes this movie exhilarating is all the performances because every single actor is giving it their all and they all give really powerful and captivating performances in the film.
But the person we really should shine a line on and who is the big standout of the entire film is Millie Bobby Brown who plays Elven Now in stranger things see the one she did a spectacular job with her performance but I have to send this movie she gives one of her best performances as the character when a Elven has to be really sad are really scared Millie Bobby Brown still pulled that off magnificently. Now as tremendous as Millie Bobby Brown's performance was. the character of Elven Is either way the best character in the film and she's always been my favorite character in the show and in this movie that's no exception she is a badass she really wants to kill Vecna and save her family +essentially because in see the one she didn't have a friend Shield all alone the woods she was tortured experimenting on by the scientist and see with all alone that and until Mike And his friends found her and Taking care of her and they all became great friends and they all teamed up to save the world in this film. Now the thing we really have to talk about is 11th mental breakdown sequence in the third act because holy shit it is really hard to watch because Elven is watching her friends be brutally getting tortured by Vecna and when she breaks down you really believe it because she doesn't want her friends to die and when I watch Film for the first time and rewatching it again. I was also really scared that all of these characters would die because I grew so attached to these characters I was like Please don't kill them off. But that's what makes the scene so scary but so tremendous because it makes you feel for these characters because in In Avengers Age of Ultron i could have care to laugh if Quicksilver lived or not because the movie didn't really develop him that much at all they had killed him off well this movie actually makes you care about all of them. The chemistry between her and Finn Wolfhard, David Harbor, Winond Ryder, Gaten Matararazzo, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Joseph Quinn, Cable McLaughlin, Jamie Campbell Bower, Maya Hawk Is tremendous.
Now Finn Wolfhard has been playing Mike since the very first episode of Stranger Things and in this film he gives a beautiful and emotional and amazing performance as this character because he gives such a raw and captivating performance in this film. Now the character of Mike were they really incredible character in stranger things because he really cared about Elven he didn't want anything bad happened to her he always enjoyed spending time with her and even when they had a falling out he deeply does care about her even seen the three where she outright dumped him for being a jerk he still came back to help her fight the Mind Flayer. Now in this movie he wants to help Elven and everyone around them to take down Vecna and save the world. The scene where Mike gives Elven that really awesome speech saying that he always cared about her he always loved her and that was a really powerful and brilliant moment in the film because he was encouraging her to fight back against Vecna because he admitted that he really loved her and would be nothing without her because even apologizes for being kind of a jerk to her and kind of shining her out and it's one of the most powerful and one of the most emotional moments of the entire film and it's probably my favorite moment in the entire film as well because the relators are between Elven and Mike what the strongest thing the route this film. The chemistry between him and Millie Bobby Brown is exhilarating.
Now When it comes to Gaten Matararazzo As Dustin Henderson i always liked his performance in fact he was probably My favorite performance in the entire show and even in this movie I got to say he still gives a magnificent and exhilarating performance as this character. Now Dustin Hendrickson is the character that was always my favorite because his humor always made me laugh because whether it is in the first episode where he says to like something's wrong with your sister. Then Mike says what do you mean. Then Dustin says she has a giant stick up her butt because she found Dustin annoying and that's what made his humor throughout the rest of the show really funny. Or him taking the ice cream scooper which belonged to Steve and he put it in his mouth and Steve says Oh dud come on not my scooper because Dustin had an in his mouth and that's what makes them such a funny character. But I have to say this movie I love how he was Super serious because he is so desperate to save the world and protect Elven from Vecna To the point that he would actually battle a bunch of demons and Get attacked by them So Elven can save the world. Now let's talk about the scene that is probably the most heavy scene to watch in this entire film and that is Dustin's mental breakdown this scene is so sad and so brule to watch because dustin is watching his new friend Ediedd Munson die in front of him and when he cries in front him and keep begging Eddie not to die telling him that he will be okay It's probably the saddest moment of the entire film and it's probably my favorite moment in this film because it showed that Dustin even though he's really funny he could be really emotional at times. This is probably one of the most brutal scenes in the entire film. The chemistry between him and Millie Bobby Brown is outstanding.
Now Cable McLaughlin has always given a really masterful and incredible performance as Lucas in Stranger Things. But in this movie he gives probably his best performance as this character. He did give such a raw and exhilarating Performance as this character. Now Lucas as a character with always really interesting and Strange Things he was the smart one and at first he didn't really like Elven because believed that she was a spy but as the show progressed he started to enjoy her as a friend and agreed to help her take down any threat that was from the upside down. But in this film he is tremendous because Lucas wants to help Elven and the rest of the citizens in Hawkins to take down Vecna and save the world. The scene where Lucas is telling Max Mayfield to wake up and it's probably one of the most heart-pounding moments of the entire film because Vecna almost kills her and she gets put into a coma and it's probably the most terrifying moment of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Millie Bobby Brown is magnificent.
Now Noah Schnapp was always glorious as Mike's friend Will And stranger things because he gave a really terrific and excellent performance as this character. But I have to say he probably gives the strongest performance in this film as Will because he gives such an emotional and beautiful performance as this character. Now Will as a character in Stranger Things was always really shy. He didn't really open up to anyone except Mike on top of that he kind of had a case of PTSD from being trapped in the Upside Down for so long and he always had a lot of pack attacks but he always cared about his friends and family. But in this film Will really wants to protect his family and take down Vecna and save all of Hawkins. The scene where Will Is helping Mike get Evlen for parent to fight Vecna is probably one the most emotional and probably one of the strongest moments in the film because even though They had problems with another sometimes because they had a falling out they do deeply care about each other and it is probably one of the most One of the most powerful moments of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Millie Bobby Brown is fantastic.
Now when Joseph Quinn Appeared in Stranger Things as Eddie Munson I was a little suspicious of him. I thought he would have been way too over the top and silly. But to my surprise I ended up liking him even more than I thought. I would because he gave a really fun and entertaining performance as this character. But I have to say in the movie he gives one of the most emotional performances in the entire film as Eddie Munson because you can tell he is having a lot of fun as this character. Now Eddie Munson I always enjoyed the character. I always found him really funny but I also really like him as Dustin's Mentor and the bonding between them was always the strongest aspect of stranger things. Now in the film that's no different. They still have magnificent chemistry with one another; they both want to help Elven and their friends take down Vecna and save the world. The scene where Eddie Munson sacrifice in himself to save the world is probably one of the saddest moments of the entire film because Dustin had to watch him be killed by the demons and he broke down crying because he really cared about Eddie and it's probably one of the hardest things to watch in the film because of how much it broke Dustin to watch Eddie be killed in front of him. The chemistry between him and Millie Bobby Brown is magnificent.
Now Joe Keery was always amazing as Steve Harrington in Stranger Things because he always gave a really fun and entertaining performance as the character. But I have to say in this movie he gives a really spectacular and fantastical performance as this character. Now Steve as a character i always enjoyed in Stranger Things because at first he was a jerk how he didn't want Mikey and his friends hang out with him. But as the show went on Steve started to really care about Mike and his friends and wanted to help take down any demons from the upside down and he also had a couple funny jokes Like him reacting to Dustin put his ice cream scooper In his mouth. Or him reacting to Eddie trusting him to drive the trailer. But in this film Steve is shown to be really brave because he will do anything to protect his friends and help Elven take down Vecna and save the world. The scene where Steve explained to Dustin and Eddie the plan is probably one of the most important moments of the entire film because it forced the rest of the film of how they are going to defeat Vecna. It is probably one of the most important moments of the entire film. Also the bonding between Steve and Mike and the rest of his friends is probably the strongest thing of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Millie Bobby Brown is incredible.
Now David Harbour has always given a terrific and remarkable performance as Jim Harper in Stranger Things. But in this film he really gives it his all in fact he probably gives his best performance as this character In this film. Now Jim Hopper at a character he was always really strict but he really did care for Mike and his friends especially Elven because you find out that she was his daughter and he didn't want anything bad happened to her. Now in this film he has not changed. Jim Hopper is still the same and he really wants to help his daughter Elven take down Vecna and save the world that way no other evil creatures can emerge from the upside down. The scene where Jim Hopper is reunited with Elven is probably one of the most beautiful moments in the film because he really cared about her and didn't want her to be killed by Vecna and it is probably My favorite moment of the entire film because it really shows how much Jim Hopper really cared about her. The chemistry between him and Millie Bobby Brown is exhilarating.
Now Winond Ryder was always tremendous as Joyce Byers in Stranger Things. She always gave a really emotional and really beautiful performance as this character. But in this film I have to say she probably gives the best performance as this character. Now the character of Joyce Byers is still a really terrific character because the route stranger things she really cared about her son will and why him to get out of the upside down and she would do anything to get her son back and wanted to prevent more demons from emerging from the upside down. But I have to say in this film Joyce Byers Is not only tremendous but she is a really strong character in the film because she wants to go back to home and help her son Will and his friends to take down Vecna and Save the World. The scene where Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper teamed up to kill all the Demi Gorgons is probably the most badass and one of the most incredible moments of the entire film. The relationship between her and Jim Hopper is the strongest aspect of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Millie Bobby Brown is awesome.
Now Sadie Sink is still entertaining as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things because she gave a really fun and magnificent performance as this character. But in the movie I have to say she probably gives her best performance as this character because she gives such a spectacular and incredible performance. Now Max Mayfield as a character she was really interesting in stranger things because at first he didn't want to have with Mike and his friends but eventually she did start to care about them and she agreed to help them take down any Supernatural beans that came from the upside down and she also had a traumatic past with her brother Billy who always mistreated and abused her when they were kids So you did feel really bad for her. But I have to say in the movie Max Mayfield Is even better as a character because she clearly has some regrets of killing her brother even though she really hated him and cannot stand him she's still deeply cared about him even though Billy trainer like garbage and she wants to take down Vecna to get over her PTSD over dead brother. The scene where Max Mayfield is fighting Vecna and having all of these flashbacks of her and her brother is probably one of the most heart-pounding moments in the film because Vecna is making relieve all those bad moments while trying to kill her and her friends. It is probably the most terrifying moment of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Millie Bobby Brown is incredible.
Now Maya Hawke was always terrific as Robin Buckley because she gave a really exhilarating and terrific performance as this character. But I have to say in the film she probably gives her best performance as this character because she gives a raw and magnificent performance as this character because you can tell that Maya Hawke is having a lot of fun as this character. Now Robin Buckley as a character who was really interesting in Stranger Things because at first she didn't really believe anything that Mike and his friends were doing but eventually she did start to like them and agree to help them take down the Mind flyer and help them prevent other Supernatural disasters coming to Hawkins. Now in this film she has not changed she still Wants to help Mike and his friends take down Vecna and save all of Hawkins. The scene where Robin Buckley Is watching Vecna torture her and her friends is probably the scariest moment of the entire film because she doesn't want any of her friends to die and it's probably one of the heart pounding moments of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Millie Bobby Brown is exhilarating.
Now let's talk about Jamie Campbell Bower who voices Vecna in Stranger Things and his performance was really sinister because Jamie Campbell Bower’s vocal performance was really horrifying and really incredible because the voice he puts on was really disturbing and really Spine tingling. But I have to say in the film he actually steps it up a lot. His performance is a lot more chilling in this film and you can just tell that Jamie Campbell Bower is having a lot of fun as this character. Now as for Vecna in Stranger Things I always really enjoy him. He was really terrifying and really intelligent because he knew how to manipulate Elven and her friends. But in the movie Vecna is a lot more intense and a lot more sinister because he came the closest to strip killing everyone in Hawkins. Also Vecna is very similar to The Void from Thunderbolts in the sense that both of them represent loneliness and depression. The scene where Vecna pins Elven against that door and chokes her with his tentacles and says your friends have lost now I just want you to watch. Or him facing off against Elven In the upside down and he says You and your friends believe that you have won… Don't you? But this is only the beginning: The beginning… Of the end. You already lost. It is probably the scariest and most haunting moment of the entire film because Vecna almost kills Elven and her friends. It is kind of similar to the scene in Thunderbolts where The Void says to Bob you think you are some great man. Some savior you can't even save yourself. We will always be alone because both villains are psychologically and physically attacking the main character. Also i'm going to say this this is Ultron done right because if they made Ultron like Vecna from this movie then he would have been a lot more comic accurate. But instead the MCU made him into a overly silly and really terrible written villain so this movie showed how terrible the MCU did of adapting Ultron by making a more comic accurate interpretation of the character in the form of Vecna. The Rivalry between Vecna and Elven is brilliant because you can understand why Elven wants to kill Vecna and save her friends and when she beats The living shit out of him it is Really satisfying to watch That can I get beaten up by Elven because the movie does a glorious job of making you hate him. I think Vecna is up there with The Void from Thunderbolts and one of my favorite villains of all time. Also the CGI for Vecna looks so scary to the point that it looks realistic. That's how awesome and perfect the special effects are for this movie. The chemistry between him and Millie Bobby Brown is tremendous.
However the best thing about this movie is the directing by the Duffer Brothers Because why I love about their directing is that they gave Elven her ending because throughout Stranger Things she was a introvert she didn't have any friends she wanted to be left alone but that is until Mike and his friends found her in the woods and She started to like them and they became Her friends but she kind of saw them as a family because they knew that they really cared about her. Something else I really They did not hold back on the darkness this movie gets really dark and very violent in the first like 10 minutes thing they're not going well for our characters because they sense Vecna is coming and Max Mayfield telling Lucas about her dark thoughts of her to kill her brother because he always hated him because of the way he treated her. I also like how they developed the character of Vecna making him really scary having him be connected to Elven with a really smart idea in the film that executes it brilliantly. Even the stuff between Dustin and Eddie was really powerful and really sad to watch because Dustin had to watch his friend be killed in front of him. Also I am so glad that they didn't ruin this film with a bunch of stupid MCU jokes because if you gave this script and the film to someone Joss Whedon let me tell you that guy would have made Vecna a joke by making him tell all the dumb and silly jokes and it would have taken away from Vecna's intimidation presence in fear factor and would have made him a terrible villain. But thankfully they didn't have him direct this film, they made him completely horrifying and very intimidating and really intelligent. Also I am so happy the way they ended the film with a tragic and emotional but bittersweet ending. So overall I think they did a magnificent job directing this film.
So in conclusion I really love this film simply because there's just so many stakes to this film because you have Elven and her friends trying to take down one of the scariest villains in Hawkins history that being Vecna and it requires her friends to take him down once for all and save the world. But the best thing in the film is the performances because every single one of them is amazing. But the stand out is Millie Bobby Brown who gives her best performance ever as Elven. Also the scenes in this movie are incredible whether it is Dustin's mental breakdown pleading with any not to die or Elven facing off against Vecna in the final battle and finally killing him. Every single moment in this film is perfect. This film hits you surprise after surprise because you don't know what's going to happen next and when you do see something happen you are very shocked about what is going to happen to these characters. Also Vecna is up there with The Void from Thunderbolts as one of my favorite villains of the 2020s because both of them have really awesome motivations and some really heart pounding and awesome lines of dialogue. I still think that this film is up there with everything everywhere all at once with Ke Huy Quan as one of my favorite films of 2022. In fact both of them are in my top five favorite films of 2022. That's how perfect they are. I highly recommend you watch this film especially if you want to see a better version of Avengers Age of Ultron that is actually scary like the marketing they tried to use in the actual film and failed because they made it into a generic MCU comedy film. Well this film is actually consistent all the way through and doesn't have any dumb jokes. Then I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I give this movie a 10/10.
