Here is My Movie Review of Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back
So basically what happens and that takes place after Star Wars left off. You have Luke Skywalker who wants to learn how to be a Jedi so she must visit master Yoda to accomplish but he has so much anger built up inside of him That is slowly turning To the dark side. Meanwhile you have Han Solo and the rest of them they're trying to fight back against the Empire But they end up losing so it's up to Luke Skywalker to learn The way he is a Jedi Knight and tries to take down Darth Vader and that's basically what the story is for the film. I Have to say The storyline of this movie is easily the best storyline of the entire Star Wars franchise because we are focusing on Luke Skywalker trying to control his emotions and trying to become a Jedi Knight. I think the film executes the story perfectly.
The acting in this movie is the best acted film out of all the Star Wars movies. Everyone gives really powerful and terrific performances and you can tell that all of these actors are having a lot of fun in the film.
However the absolute big standout of the entire film is Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker because he gives one of his best performances and the whole Star Wars franchise. Now Luke Skywalker as a character is tremendous because he had the one anger built up inside of them because want to know who his father is but he also has to learn how to control his emotions in order to become A Jedi knight and learn the ways of the force. I think the film executes his character tremendously. The scene where Luke Skywalker is fighting Darth Vader was the darkest moment of the entire film because you think that Luke Skywalker will win but no he loses he gets his hand chopped off He got manipulated by Darth Vader into joining him. It is probably the most nail biting moment of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Frank Oz, James Earl Jones, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew Is excellent.
Carrie Fisher comes back as Princess Leia in the film. I have to say she gives one of her best performances and this character because you can tell she puts so much heart and emotion into her character. Now the character of Princess Leia is even better than she was in the first star was filmed because in the first film she was already a tremendous character but here they make her even better because in this film do you want to take down the Empire and she want to save the Galaxy but she is all worried because the Empire are taking down the rebels ships and they're getting taken out one by one by these giant Eta Walkers. The scene where she and the rest of her team is captured by Darth Vader is one of the darkest moments of the entire film because Darth Vader actually succeeds in taking down the rubble alliance so he sort of wins in this movie. It was one of the scariest moments of the entire film. The chemistry between her and Mark Hamill Is incredible. Also the relationship between Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia is the strongest aspect of the entire film.
Harrison Ford comes back as Han Solo in the film. I have to say much like in the first film he is still my favorite performance in the franchise because he is still really entertaining as this character. Now the character of Han Solo I enjoyed in the first film. But I have to say he is actually better they was in that first film because he learned that they are losing against the Empire and he still wants to try to save the Galaxy but that way Darth Vader had overpowered them And turn the tables on them that's why they are living because Darth Vader in this film is one step ahead of them at every turn. Also Han Solo it's still funny in this film but like how they make him a lot more serious. The scene where Han Solo tries to get Princess Leia to admit that she loves him is not only really funny. But it makes sense because it sets up their relationship in the film because she gets annoyed by him whenever he tries to flirt with her on the Millennium Falcon. But the thing where Hanco gets frozen and carbonite and Princess Leia says I love you. Then Hanco says I know it wasn't the most tragic moments of the entire film because Han Solo has to say goodbye to Princess Leia and the rest of their friends but because he's going to be frozen in carbonite. The chemistry between him and Mark Hamill.
Peter Mayhew Comes back to voice Chewbacca In this film. I have to say he probably gives his best performance and his character in the entire Star Wars franchise. Now the character of Chewbacca in this movie is actually tremendous. He is even better than it was in the first Star Wars film because much like the rest of the characters he also wants to save the Galaxy and again they actually lose against the Empire the Empire overpowered them they managed to Take over the Galaxy. The scene where Chewbacca sees Han Solo in carbonite it's probably one of the saddest moments of the entire film because Han Solo is Chewbacca's best friend. It's probably one of the more dramatic moments in the film. The chemistry between him and Mark Hamill it's terrific.
Frank Oz Voices Master Yoda in the film. I have to say he does a terrific job as the character. Now the character of Master Yoda Is spectacular because he essentially wants to help Luke Skywalker learn the ways of the force and tells him to control his emotions and not let his anger get the better of him. The scene where Master Yoda tells Luke Skywalker To concentrate in order to use the forest wisely because not only is a really important scene but it makes sense because the fourth requires a lot of concentration to use. It is probably one of the most important moments of the entire film because Luke Skywalker also asks Master Yoda if his friends are going to die and that was also really intense because even though Han Solo doesn't die it does sort of foreshadow him being trapped in carbonite. The chemistry between him and Mark Hamill is incredible.
Anthony Daniels Comes back to voice C3PO In the film. I have to say this is one of his best performances as his character because he has a lot more to do they did in the first movie because in the first movie he had stuff to do but in this one they give him more character development. Now the character of C3PO is relatively the same, he's still downer. He's still complaining but he still really cares about his friends. He wants to help them protect the Galaxy and take down the Empire. But They failed to take down the Empire because they overpowered them and killed half of the rebels. The scene C3PO sees Han Solo and Princess Leia Making out and at least to this really awkward moment where they look at him at if he kind of ruined the moment and not only was it really funny but it makes sense because Han Solo and Princess Leia were confessing their true feelings towards each other and C3PO walks in on them kissing each other. It is probably the funniest moment of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Mark Hamell Is perfect.
Billy Dee Williams plays Lando In the film. I have to say he does a spectacular job as the character. Now the character of Lando is really complicated because he's not a villain he really wants to help Han Solo and his friends take down the Empire but he does end up double crossing them by letting them to Darth Vader. But wasn't his intention because he had to do it in order to keep himself alive so he didn't intend on having his friends be almost killed by the Empire, it was because he needed a way to survive. But he does redeem himself by helping them escape from Cloud City. The scene where Lando is reunited with Han Solo is not only a really powerful and Incredible moment but it makes sense because they haven't seen each other since that time they were gambling against each other to have the Millennium Falcon. It is probably one of the most important moments of the entire film. The chemistry between him and Harrison Ford is excellent.
James Earl Jones comes back to voice Darth Vader in this film. I have to say he gives one of his best performances as the character because he gives such a really powerful and terrifying performance in the film. Now the character of Darth Vader is terrific because well I enjoyed them in the first Star Wars film i actually think he's a lot better written in this film and that's because they make him a lot more scarier in the film because he trys push Luke to turn to the dark side and try to make him just like him. Now let's talk about the most iconic scene in the movie and that is Darth Vader saying No Luke I am your father and not only if it was the scariest moments of the entire film. But Luke Skywalker did not know that Darth Vader was his dad. He always thought that his dad died. But no his father is still alive and it is the darkest moment of the entire film. The Rivalry between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader is epic because Luke Skywalker does not want to be corrupted and turn to the dark side. Will Darth Vader want him to join him and become a killer just like him. I think the film handles their rivalry perfectly. The chemistry between him and Mark Hamill is amazing.
However the best thing about this film is the directing by Irvin Kershner because what I love about him directing and I can imagine to develop more of the characters like for example Luke Skywalker get the biggest character dog in the entire film because he had to learn to control an emotions and be one with the force to become a Jedi Knight and try to defeat Darth Vader. Also Princess Leia and Han Solo get more development because it goes deeper into their relationship in the film as they slowly start to like each other. I also like how he made this film a lot darker because well the thrift Star Wars movie had darker moments this one has a lot more like Luke Skywalker almost dying in the cold. Han Solo being trapped and carbonite. Also Luke getting his arm chopped off by Darth Vader is also really disturbing. So overall I think he did an incredible job directing this film.
So in conclusion I really enjoyed this film. The storyline was a lot darker. Having Luke Skywalker try to control his emotions so he can learn the ways of the force to become a Jedi Knight was amazing because in the first Star Wars film he wanted to be a pilot. I think making him a Jedi Knight in this film was a terrific idea because they need to develop Luke even more. I also like how this film is a lot darker than the first film because the first film had some suspenseful moments. But this film takes it to the next level by having Han Solo be trapped in carbonite, Luke Skywalker getting his hand chopped off and Darth Vader winning which means that the rebels lose in this film. But all the performances are still great. Harrison Ford is still entertaining as Han Solo and he is still my favorite performance in the film. James Earl Jones is still just as scary and entertaining as he was as Darth Vader in the first film. Also the action sequences were really tremendous, especially the final battle between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader that was a really intense and awesome action sequence. This is the best Star Wars film of all time. I highly recommend you watch this film especially if you enjoy the first Star Wars film which also Stars Mark Hamill. I give this movie a 10/10.
